Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Enjoying the snow? I hope everyone was able to spend time with wonderful friends and family. I sure did! Before I could eat however, I felt like I had to EARN my turkey. At 8 am on Thursday morning our trainer (Neil Anderson) held an intense workout at his gym (GPP Fit). It wasn’t just like any other day. We ended up doing double what we usually do. Let’s just say that’s a whole lot of burpees (and if you know what those are, you’ll understand what I’m talking about). Once we made the room all nice and steamy, I headed home to Provo to see my family!

Last year we actually had a game on Thanksgiving night. It was quite nice to have the day off this year. Although I will admit, I just can’t get enough of the NBA lately. These past few games have been SO much fun for me and the girls. There must be something in the air ha. To top it off, we have a huge game against the LA Lakers. You all better be excited! My goodness and what an AMAZING month it has been for JAZZ basketball! Starting with the double OT win over the Clippers, and then the week of road games (yes the dancers watch them all and are REALLY into it).  We were hoping to win two of the four games on the road, but ended up winning EVERY game! The game against the Miami Heat was one of the best Jazz games I have ever witnessed. Then we went on to beat Orlando the next night ah. Last week’s home game against New Orleans was also another really sweet game. I just love leaving the Energy Solutions Arena with a big old smile after a great win.

Speaking of great games… This weekend UTAH vs. BYU rivalry game was incredible. I have been to pretty much every one of these games throughout the years. Depending on whether it is at Rice Eccles or Lavell Edwards Stadium, it is always a different experience.  There is a big contrast between the two venues. I grew up in Utah County and graduated from Timpview High School. I have many really close friends that play for both teams. However I have been a UTE fan since birth. My Grandfather and Uncle both played football for the U. Therefore I BLEED UTE RED!! To me Utah games are just a lot more fun! Everyone gets SO into them. Luckily I think we can all (down South and up North) pretty much agree on one thing: THE UTAH JAZZ!!

Wow November has been a really busy/stressful month for me. School, training, rehearsals, appearances, games, teaching dance classes, and working on and teaching choreography to a few dance students has been overwhelming for me. Oh yes and I even had the opportunity to choreograph my first dance for the NuSkin Jazz Dancers! That sure was exciting to see come together, and I think we all had fun doing it also. One night we learned a whole half time dance, and performed it a week later! That is not easy on the brain. In order to learn all our new routines, we have had many late nights at practice. Sometimes we will leave around 11 pm, and then I have to be up again at 7 am for school. This sure can wear me out. It is also nearing the end of fall semester at the University of Utah. Only two more weeks until winter break! I have many projects, exams, and service hours to complete.

Needless to say, I do not have very much free time on my hands. When I do get a spare minute I love shopping, going to movies (yes I am a huge Harry Potter fan), relaxing and hanging out with friends. I have many friends from the U that I have adopted as my college family. They are people that I really could not live without. I absolutely LOVE College life! I highly recommend everyone experience it. I think it is a great way to learn about life: to move away from the comfort zone of home and family and basically grow up and hopefully learn how to become a productive, self-sufficient adult. Oh and don’t let me forget my fellow Jazz Dancers as being one of my biggest support groups! If anything ever gets too stressful or I’m feeling down, they are always there to pick me right back up! These girls can always make me smile. I don’t know what I would do without them. I am VERY grateful for my friends, family, teammates, health, education, talents and abilities. Also I would like to thank the Jazz organization, NuSkin enterprises and ALL YOU FANS for being apart of my life! Love you all and talk to you soon!

  1. Hi Sydney, Robert from Salt Lake, 25. I was wondering if the Nu Skin Jazz dancers would ever consider a charity date auction? Maybe it could even be something that could be coordinated with the Jazz players to get them involved. I know that charity and public relations are important to people like Greg Miller and everyone involved with the Millers and the Jazz. I know there are a lot of people who would really enjoy an opportunity to help out a good charity and to be able to treat one of you beautiful women to dinner. Myself being one. :)

You guys are a great asset to the organization. utahjazz.com still has the old profiles. Why do the dancers not get a good web presence on utahjazz.com as compared to the other NBA teams in the league?
