Hey there JAZZ FANS! WELCOME to the year of 2011!!

Wow isn’t that crazy? I hope you all had a wonderful time over the holidays. I think we all needed a little break from our crazy lives.  It sure was nice to take it easy and have a bit of a vacation. I felt like I was going to explode with everything I had to accomplish come December. But of course only a week into the break I was ready to get back into things! I have to admit I even got bored without school and not as many Jazz home games. I guess I’m one to always be on the go.  Don’t you worry though, I was really able to enjoy myself this winter break.

Right before Christmas I was able to go to the MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas to cheer on my UTES! Boy did I have a fun time. It sure was exciting to see so much of the color RED down there to support our team.  Although it was not the outcome we would have liked, I still had SO much fun!  I got to spend time with what I call my UTE family, as well as a couple of the biggest Utah football fans you will ever meet: my Grandpa who is a former player, my aunt who is about to graduate from the U with her Masters and a relative of mine who has been a faithful member of the Crimson Club for many years! Now can you see why I am such a huge Ute fan? Okay good I’m glad you understand. We BLEED UTAH RED!! Luckily I was able to go to the game with family, while also spending time with all of my many great friends. We went shopping, got all dressed up, supported our team and saw pretty much everyone we know! In my opinion it was the perfect getaway.

After a delayed flight, I finally made it home to my family on the twenty-third. I was very happy to see my cute little brothers all excited for Christmas. On Christmas Eve we all went to my Grandparents house for dinner. Actually I should say breakfast since we always eat waffles and hot chocolate as a tradition. We also all get pajamas to sleep in that night, and my littlest brother refuses to sleep with anyone but me. Christmas morning is always quite eventful. My brothers wake me up at about 5 am to open presents. They always get exactly what they want, and we spend all day playing with all their new toys.  Oh yes and I must not forget the big games on Christmas day! You better believe NBA basketball is always apart of the Sorenson house :)

Lucky for me JAZZ basketball was starting up again not too long after. I was about to go crazy if I didn’t have another game soon enough. I missed my girls, the JAZZ, performing and cheering on our team!  At practice we had a little reunion. Although it hadn’t been too long since we had seen each other, it seemed like ages. We are just so used to being together all the time. Probably the best thing about our first practice back was that we were all matching. All of us seemed to ask Santa for the same thing: Victoria’s Secret PINK sweats! I walked in and noticed two of the other girls (Mikell and Tasha) were wearing the EXACT same thing as I was, in the same color nonetheless. I guess we all have the same taste in clothes? On our team if you do not have a pair of PINK sweats, you almost start to feel a little left out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! Gosh can you believe it? Another year gone! Do you know what else that means? We are just about half way through the season. NO!! This is just so upsetting. I never want the season to end! I am so happy I have the Jazz games to keep me busy while school is out. Once again I am SO thankful to be apart of such a great organization. I have to say I have the best job EVER! I just get so excited every time I walk out onto that floor and I get to see all of YOU helping us cheer on our amazing team!

There are always new and exciting things happening inside the doors of ESA. The newest addition to the Jazz is Jazz Fit. Go check out the website: http://www.nba.com/jazz/features/jazzfit.html. It was just launched this week! If you were at the game on January 3rd there was a lot of hype about staying physically fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The NBA as well as the JAZZ are both supporting this idea. The Jazz players as well as the dancers and many people around the arena, are here to promote how to stay active. Local companies are also teaming up to provide education on fitness. The Jazz supports and gives advice on how to “live healthy.” Let’s get fit everyone!! Even the Jazz Bear is doing it! It’s the THING to do. In order to stay healthy and happy one must require: healthy activity and exercise, good nutrition, positive energy and a lot of JAZZ BASKETBALL!! Hope to see you all soon :)

I must have hit the wrong button. I thought this was a Jazz blog not a Ute blog..

  2. JC says:

Larry, you commented at 11:11 on 1/11/11

  3. and yet, despite that convergence of the universe’s intent to promote good will, his comment was still asinine.

Larry, you have rendered me speechless. Not something that happens very often.

  5. LKA says:

@JC So do I get to put this in my resume??

  6. Larry K. Anderson… they ask the Jazz dancers to write about their lives… hence the title “Dancer Diary” not just about the Jazz!!!

Every one needs a little tease in their life. Anyway I needed to hurry so I could get all those ones to line up. I will try again on Feb 2, 2022,at2:22.

I love the green and gold high socks. Classic. If Korver wasn’t a basketball player he could have fit right in with the squad.

  9. Fan says:

I am sure being a Jazz Dancer is much harder and time consuming than any of us would think. It is fun to hear about their lives and by the way I have a feeling Korver would fit right in with this squad no matter what kind of socks he wore.
