Playoff Predictions – First Round
Posted by: Adam on April 28th, 2012
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. The playoffs start this weekend, and its time to cast your votes on what is going to happen during these playoffs! I just typed up a blog post on my personal blog where I go into detail in each match-up in the first round giving my pick of who will win, how many games they will do it in, and why. Here’s the link to it for you to check it out: http://drogemiester.blogspot.com/2012/04/nba-playoff-predictions-first-round.html. Yes, I am doing it this way this time to promote my blog I have started just this year. In addition to this post that is applicable to this site, I do lots of sportsy stuff and movie stuff as well as other random things. If you don’t like this promotion strategy, then feel free to just leave right now. It won’t offend me.
But I digress. Playoff predictions. Read mine up there and give me your thoughts and predictions. Here’s the condensed version if it pleases you:
First Round:
Spurs over Jazz
Thunder over Mavericks
Nuggets over Lakers
Clippers over Grizzlies
Bulls over 76ers
Heat over Knicks
Pacers over Magic
Celtics over Hawks
(other rounds after this, including my pick to win it all available on my blog. I’m not typing all that up here because I mainly want a discussion about the first round)

I don’t see the Nuggets taking it to the Lakers. And the Grizzlies are a really dangerous team. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it to the Conference Finals.
I agree on pretty much all the Eastern Conference games, though Celtics and Hawks are a toss up, Joe Johnson is a stud.
Here’s hoping for a Jazz miracle…
The Nuggets winning is my attempt to call an upset. Its too easy to just pick all the top seeds to win
If you do not have the Jazz going all the way what kind of fan are you??You have given up before the first tipoff..
@L.K. Anderson There’s a huge difference between being a Jazz fan, and making realistic predictions. Sure, we all want to see an upset, but realistically, in 4 games this year, we won one… at home… without Parker/Duncan/Ginobli even in town… AND it was a close game, that the Spurs could have won, I do think we’re better now,and that we’ll make the series interesting, but saying we’ll lose the series to the spurs is just being realistic, not being a bad fan.
as for you’re predictions Adam, In the west, the only thing i have a problem with is that you predict a spurs sweep, we’ll win at least two, other than that you’re first round in the west is good. In the east first round, I don’t see the Celtics beating the Hawks, the C’s are battling injuries right now, and they won’t have homecourt, which they need.
The Clips don’t have much playoff experience and are going up against a serious Memphis team. I think people are overrating them big time.
fans? where are u?
Go Jazz !@#$% spurs!
@Ryan GO JAZZ! F!@# the spurs!
Haha , come on. The jazz have beat every best team in the nba when they play well and that was before Favors broke out 3 games ago. Locke is right, we just added a young Dwight Howard to the lineup. We will shut them down on the inside now that the big 3 AL, Sap, Fav have had time to get in sync and Ty can use it effectively. Harris is back in form. Hayward and Favors hitting their sophmore jumps. I think Enes will be an X factor. Spurs dont rebound offensively , if they get beat on defensive rebounding as well then they are in trouble.
JAZZ
Thunder
Nuggets
Clippers
Bulls
Heat
Pacers
Hawks
Ive been dying to see jazz in a playoff series because I think we have the right build. Physical, Long, high talent, Gordon Hayward , and 40+ games this year with a 6 point margine makes this team underrated. POP’s a great coach but we have a better team. Jazz have been a tough assignment all year for Ty or any coach, so many young guys figuring out the nba game. But Ty knows what he has now. He is playing his best talent the right ways and he takes the necessary risks. POPs will win some chess matches, but Ty will have a chance to counter in a series. This isnt a boozer and kirelenko playoff team, this jazz team is loaded with competitors.

You seriously have the Clippers over the Grizzlies no way. Grizzlies sweep Clips.
Jazz beat Spurs in 7. (even if Jazz lose, its going to be a 7 game series.
Chicago will be eliminated in the second round. After missing almost half of the regular season, Derrick Rose is out for the entire post season.
Every team in the East just breathed a sigh of relief. Looks like Derrick Rose’s career is going to burn out just as fast as it caught fire.

With how well the Spurs have been playing, I would consider a 6 or 7 game series a success. Obviously I’d like the Jazz to sweep, but lets be realistic…Parker, Duncan and Ginobli are going to get all the calls. They’re four-time champions, they’re deep with Disease, Jackson, Splitter, Patty Mills, Bonner, Leonard and have probably the best coach in the league. But our team is basically unknown. Our coach is unproven. Anything could happen.
*Diaw not Disease stupid autocorrect
lol KC I definitely prefer “deep with disease”
