Cheerful Holiday Game Watching With a Twist

Lately my life is about two things, working at my shop and working to help others get festive at their homes or offices for the holidays.  I will be lucky if I get a chance to pause long enough to see the recap of the Jazz games this week on the local news.  I am not looking forward to missing Jazz games!

Since I’ve been entrenched in holiday decorating jobs, I’ve been trying to think of a way to combine the holidays and my desire to watch the Jazz games.  While I haven’t figured out a way for myself, I have figured out a way that you can combine the holiday spirit with your Jazz fandom.  Actually, fellow Jazzbot Joshua Palmer figured it out back in October and it’s a fantastic idea.

Here it is:  have a game watching party and/or get together, but instead of everyone bringing a food item to eat during the game, have everyone bring an item to donate to a charity.  You decide ahead of time what the charity group will be, and tell everyone to bring a donation (and a food dish, who are we kidding here?).  At Josh’s party we brought either wet wipes or diapers for the local women and children’s shelter or a canned food item for the food bank.  Most of us ended up bringing one of each because Josh provided enough food to feed the entire Jazzbots roster, the Jazz roster, the coaches, their families and the entire Jazz organization.  Thanks Josh!!

More importantly thanks Josh for the great idea.  It was really fun to think that our common thread of Jazz fanaticism was a vehicle for helping someone out.  It was super easy and super fun.  How’s about you all send in your ideas for donations and charity groups that can be helped out during the next Jazz games, so that we can all be inspired? And then lets take action.
