Here’s what we should do…

So we have all heard the latest rumors that Danny Green is very interested in signing with us and believes that he would fit in perfectly here. Which i completely agree with. So we need to for sure get him into a Jazz uniform. Maybe we could somehow work out a sign and trade with the Spurs so that we can get rid of Josh Howard and Raja Bell’s contracts and poor play. Then we should also take a serious look at Ersan Ilyasova, the Turkish baller from the Bucks he can play the 3,4, and 5 and is coming of a season in which he was 45% from 3-point land. We already know were not bringing back C.J. Miles because…well he just sucks and i don’t see us keeping 4 PG on the roster so either one of Tinsley or Watson are going to have to go. Since we have already picked up the option for Tinsley that probably means Earl is on his way out. Now comes the biggest question. What to do with Big Al. In my opinion he needs to leave because he is holding back our youngsters in the front court in Favors and Kanter. We need to get rid of one of Millsap or Big Al, and i think Paul is too valuable to loose he could be a great 6th man and i would expect him to start getting more minutes at the 3. So somehow Al has got to be traded idc what it is i’m sure we can maybe get something from teams such as Houston, Philly, Atlanta or maybe even Orlando if Howard leaves.

Anyways this leaves our roster looking like this:

Starters are bolded, Bench players are italicized, and the others are the back-ups to the back-ups and should expect much if any playing time.

PG:

Mo Williams-Devin Harris-Jamal Tinsley

SG:

Danny Green-Alec Burks-Kevin Murphy(R)

SF:

Gordon Hayward-Paul Millsap-DeMarre Carroll-Irsan Ilyasova-Jeremy Evans

PF:

Derrick Favors-Paul Milsap-Irsan Ilyasova

C:

Irsan Ilyasova-Enes Kanter

I think this team could get us a 3-5 seed this season. Then in next years draft i am hoping we somehow get our Point Guard of the future Myck Kabongo from Texas and let Harris walk.

What do you think!?

  1. J.C.2. says:

Ilyasova is not a center. He’s a power forward/small forward

  2. Ilysova is way to small to play the Center position. We would get dominated down low every night if our biggest guy is Derrick Favors.
He is a great player, But we are so good to go at the Center and PF position we have no reason to trade for another C or PF. It doesn’t fix our problem trading a Center for a Center. We are still way overloaded in the front court. We need to try and Sign a better SF so Hayward can start at the 2 guard. I’m thinking and hoping its Green. But I hear AK is ready to come back and the Jazz have bird rights so if we cant get Green I bet the Jazz may take AK if the price is right.
Say what you want about his injuries, you are probably right, but for the right price and in limited minutes the guy can make a difference on the court. He shot 42% from the 3 in europe this year and averaged 20+ points and was the euroleague MVP. I wouldn’t mind seeing him back at all.

  3. In addition to Green, can you imagine adding another defensive minded tar heel that has outside range at SF and also rebounds very well for his position. Bring on Marvin Williams KOC!

    Starters- Mo Williams/Hayward/Marvin Williams/Millsap/Favors
    2nd unit- Burks/Green/Carroll/Ilyasova/Kanter
    Reserves- Tinsley/Murphy/Evans

With Harris and Big Al gone, my only other pipe dream besides Marvin Williams at SF would be Igoudala but I think Williams would be a more practical and affordable compliment to the roster

  4. Zach says:

If we could unload Al and perhaps Harris (and obviously Bell),get J.J. Redick via trade, and sign Ersan Ilyasova and Kirilenko, we’d be amazing.

    Williams/Tinsley/Watson
    Redick/Hayward/Burks
    Kirilenko/Hayward/Carroll
    Ilyasova/Millsap
    Favors/Kanter

  5. J.C.2. says:

@Zach heck no I hate Reddick and he’s not even good.

  6. Zach says:

He’s a pure shooter. We still need one or several of those.

  7. @KoryWoodland actually i think getting Iggy is a lot more likely that you think. Philly is in desperate need of a dominate big men and Iggy is always rumored to be on the trading block, it’s every year it seems like. So that being said i don’t know why we couldn’t easily send Big Al to Philly straight across from Iggy. It’s a trade made in heaven if you look at it. Maybe we could do a sign and trade deal with C.J.Miles and throw in there with Big Al to sweeten the deal…it’s not like we really need C.J. anymore he sucks and always has. Maybe you even throw Earl in there too. but bottom line it’s a lot more realistic than you think!

  8. JRN5150 says:

Ilyasova will not sign on to be a backup. Can we please drop that idea? He just had a career year. Dont consider him unless he would be a starter. But then if you do that why pay Millsap the 4/$40 mil he is asking for to be a backup? I think we can only get one of those two.

  9. @JRN , I just put Ilyasova with Kanter and Millsap with Favors for chemistry sake.

@Anthony, true Big Al and Iggy have similar salaries. Millsap is seeking big money (which he deserves) but I’d also move on him if his contract becomes too pricey. Shed Harris Jefferson and Millsap salaries as attractive expiring contracts to go after Iggy, Ersan and Hibbert. Then fill the holes with some efficient role players as mentioned numerous times…

Mo Williams / Burks / Tinsley
    Hayward / Green / Murphy
Iggy / Marvin Williams / Carroll
    Favors / Ilyasova / Evans
    Hibbert / Kanter

PG would be the main focus to improve upon going into the future.

    Green > Bell + Miles
Iggy > Millsap at the 3
    Ilyasova > no Ilyasova
    Hibbert > Jefferson
    Jazz > past Jazz
