Meet
John Wall 2013??

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Idk if it was today or last night when somebody mentioned the possibility of us landing John Wall in next years free agency…is that a realistic possibility?? On Rotoworld it says that he has a “team option” next year?? What exactly does that even mean? Is that the same as a restricted free agent like could me give him a max offer and hope they didn’t match it??

I believe the team has the option of whether to bring him back or not. I don’t believe other teams can offer unless Wash decides they don’t want him, which I don’t see happening. Nice dreaming though.
Here’s a list of free agents for 2012 and 2013:

John Wall, as in one of the most overrated players in the league John Wall! Yay, let’s get him!
PFFFFFFT
I would be down for John Wall. He is great, he has just been on a horrible team for the first two years of his career. I could see them fighting for the 8th seed this year.
A team option means they have the option to pick his contract up. The same thing we have with Favors and Hayward next year. If they for some reason lost their foot we could let them go with out losing anything
Yeah they wont let Wall walk after this next season and he wont want to with a better roster and Beal right next to him making him look good.
The NBA is going to be fun to watch this next season. Lots of blow outs with the rebuilding teams but there is some good looking teams coming up.
I am especially intrigued by Clevland. Irving and Waiters could be pretty bad ass together
I love it when general, w/o any evidence-type comments are made. John Wall overrated? Please, you need to watch more basketball than just the jazz. Wall is good, really good. His shooting percentage went down a bit last season, but EVERYONE playing for DC last season lost production. Now that they’ve got rid of those boneheads (not really because Wizards need new management too) it will still be better. Will we land wall? Not a chance unless Grunfeld loses his mind, then great for us.
KOC recently commented that the league has changed and you need a pg who can score to be successful in this league. I agree, but I don’t think Mo is the answer. I do agree that the “John Stockton” days of pg’s are over. You need pg’s who can shoot and pass EFFICIENTLY. You don’t necessarily need “pass-first” pg, even tough that’s the stereotypical pg. It’s because teams are moving more and more towards a position-less roster. One that has a bunch of players who can play and guard multiple positions. Just look at Miami and OKC. There are only a handful of pg’s out there some of whom I think Utah could go after next season who I think fit the bill. 1. Stephen Curry, 2. Brandon Jennings (he’s my least favorite, but somewhat fits the bill KOC was speaking of), and Tony Parker. Yes, there are more, but these three are the only ones I see being even slightly available. Curry won’t be if he gets over his injury, and Parker probably won’t be either unless SA feels the need to blow things up.
There’s, however, is the problem. Not a lot of guys left who probably are available that fit the new pg definition. Jennings? He may work, but he’s not one I’m crazy about. Ideas?
@Ben Good point about teams in the league changing to position less rosters. Thats why IGGY would be such a perfect peice for the jazz. If Burks can be consistent and unselfish when hes cold at PG, that will be huge for us this season.
After looking over what is available, even though Eric Maynor is a restricted free agent, I think that if his injury has healed well and he is playing at a high level we make a play for him.
