International League Broadband – Are you Kidding me?

Today I had a look at the International League Broadband page – it’s about time to get my Basketball fix (the other is cable TV via ESPN North America, likely with ugly German commentary and only a small sampling of games, certainly not my Utah Jazz).

Considering we lost two months of the season alienating us fans, are on a compressed 66-game schedule that probably won’t allow us to see all the games anyway (in any case less than last year, I do have a family…), you’d assume the NBA wants to make good with their fans and lowers the prices.

Wrong.

The International League Broadband is supposed to cost a whopping $219.99 (all teams, including playoffs). Are they mad? Is this the way to win back the fans?

Looks like I might update my cable subscription instead this year. :(

What do you think?

Despite the lockout, the NBA is not going to loose money this year !

Last year, I paid approx 100 euros in early bird registration for the basic package (season + playoffs, but you could only see games within a 24 hours span). This year, there is no early bird and no choice. It should be their premium offer that includes any game at any moment of the season, the whole stuff for 160 euros.

So what to do ? hmm … given the fact that the euro is going to sink soonly, maybe it’s not so bad to renew now LOL !!

  2. Last year I bought League pass in the USA and I couldn’t watch ANY game online that was on ESPN, TNT, CBS, ABC, FOX, or anything. That means the really GOOD games I want to watch I was unable to watch because whey were on those channels.
ANYWAYS my parents have Direct TV a their house and My Dad can buy just Fox Sports West for like 10 bucks extra a month and get all the Jazz games. It’s pretty sweet, but you have to already have Direct TV to get it. You should look into that. I don’t know if they have Direct TV in Europe but I lived in Peru and they had it there so who knows!

I bought International League Pass last year, and already bought it again this year, because it’s the only way to watch Jazz games here in Brazil.
There are very few games on ESPN here, and invariably it’s a Lakers/Celtics/Knicks/Heat game.
I don’t have many complaints about League Pass (I paid 159,99 for the package, guess it’s cheaper here), because I’m able to watch games later – the time difference from here to SLC is 5 or 6 hours, so lots of games start too late for me. I was always able to watch the games I wanted (except for one Jazz at Pacers where it only allowed me to watch it 2 days later, when I already knew the result), and, like I said, it’s my ONLY option, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.
My major complaint with it is the lack of choice between home/away feed.
