The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. Here is a brief look at what is available in the up coming draft as far as PG’s. Some of you may get real excited, others may start to cry. Some of you hope that Mo will stay and have the best yrs of his career. Others are sure to toss one of our bigs out there in hopes of finding a PG. No matter which you are, let me know what you think. Going to compare the top 3 in the draft so far, with a few more well known names, and a few familiar faces.

Make sure you mute before you put this on, many may be offended by the music, but its worth watching.

Listen to what his coach has to say about him.

As of now, it’s looking as if we’ll have two picks between #15-20 plus one midway through the second round. We should be able to get one of those guys, even if it means trading up to get one.
Patrick, nice post but you left CJ McCollum and Isaiah Canaan off the list.
Trey Burke is the Damian Lillard of this draft. He studies the game and is determined to win. The only reason he isn’t projected to go earlier is because of size, but there are a few smaller guards in the league that I would love to have play for the Jazz. Hopefully his buddy Jared Sullinger doesn’t have any influence on having Boston snatch him up before we get a chance to take him.
Ray McCallum who is projected to go at 44 (and has also been compared to Mo Williams) is the sleeper PG of this draft. I would love to pick he and Burke as our backups to replace Tinsley and Watson.
I try and land Burke with our projected 18th pick and hope McCallum is still on the board come time for our projected 48th pick. I would then target either Alex Poythress, Tony Mitchell, or Patric Young with our 22nd pick as a beast backup PF for Favors (assuming Millsap gets traded)
Just wanted to clarify…
There are two McCollums in the draft, CJ & Ray… CJ plays for Lehigh and was projected to be one of top PGs this year, but he broke his foot or had the Liz Franke injury the same injury as Kyrie Irving did when he was at duke, early in the season. Ray plays for (university of?) Detroit (University?) haha and seems to be playing well enough to get some 2nd round attention.
Id like to pick up burke as well. He’s been the leader this year on a very talented michigan squad. He’s taken some big shots in some big games. Not the biggest or most athletic but has enough of both to be effective.
If Cj Mccollum falls because of his injury, i wouldn’t mind picking him up late.
If we drafted Trey Burke, Tyrone Corbin, Dennis Lindsey, and every announcer in the NBA would sh*t themselves. They can’t handle one Alex Burks, let alone Burks and Burke!!
I can just hear the amazing names they’d come up with…. Ellis Burks (courtesy of the Thunder announcers), Alex Borks, Trey Bien, Alec Trey, Burks Burkels, Alexis Burt, Burt Treebeard, Alex Burklewitz…
There are some promising young point guards in this draft. Problem is they will need to develop into serviceable NBA players, which will take a couple of years. So right when wahtever point guard we draft is ready to play, Favors, Hayward, and Kanter will be looking for greener pastures.
…And if you really think Tyrone Corbin is going to give minutes to a rookie or sophomore point guard…you’ve never seen Corbin coach.
LOL Nick, love the names!
It’s funny how we overlook Isaiah Canaan. He is the lead scoring PG in the nation. Would you rather have a Watson or Tinsley type backup that only facilitates but isnt a scoring threat or a scoring backup once the core 4 become starters?
Your right nick, we should just trade our draft picks then … problem solved
Myck Kabongo will also be a mid 2nd rounder. I think he will become a Jrue Holiday type player
Doesn’t have the shot to be a Jrue Holiday. He’s crafty with his ball handling and scoring around the hoop, but shooting is not a strength. He’s more like a better defending brandon jennings
Isaiah Cannon
09-10 20 mins, 10.4 ppg, 1.6 ast, 2.3 rebs, .498 fg%, .482 3pt%
10-11 28 mins, 11.7 ppg, 2.4 ast, 1.9 rebs, .416 fg%, .403 3pt%
11-12 33 mins, 19.0 ppg, 3.6 ast, 3.5 rebs, .468 fg%, ..456 3pt%
12-13 35 mins, 21.0 ppg, 4.2 ast, 3.7 rebs, ..434 fg%, ..382 3pt%
Sorry that I forgot Cannon. Next time, maybe you can do the work and add him if you want to add something worthwhile. :p
Forgot to put that his team is currently 18 – 6. Murray state.
