Meet
Things that went unsaid today.

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I know that the summer league isnt much of anything. Its a place to look at some talent and see who might become a role player and who might add depth to a bench. It gives other young guys a chance to show what they might have, and Coaches an idea of where to start with the youth.
A few days ago, I said I was interested to see what two players in this summer league could bring. I said you may want to keep your eyes on two guys. Can you guess who they were? S. Mejri, and D. Washington. They didnt get a whole lot of time, and it was just summer league, but I wonder if they continue on as they started, for the rest of the week. Mejri got 4 points, 6 rebs, and 3 blocks. Not impressive until you find out he was only in for under 12 minutes, got only 1 foul, and shot 2 for 2. Washington got 13 pnts, 1 reb, 1 st, in under 9 minutes shooting 4-5 fg and 3 – 3 3pt shots. He did about foul out, and shot only 2 of 7 from the free throw line, but you have to admire what he did in such a short time.
Again you may say its nothing worth noting, but if you double Majri’s numbers he gets 8 pnts, 12 rebs, and 6 blocks in 23 minutes, compared to Kanters 3 pnts, 5 rebs, and 2 blocks in 28 minutes. Wonder if you would consider that bench depth. It may be something worth watching in the coming 4 days.
Knight sure looked nice today with his 17 pnts, 6 ast, 1 st in 30 minutes.
Stockton made a showing with 5 pnts, 2 ast, and a steal in 10 minutes.
Interesting day, I sure hope things improve over the coming 4 days. Thoughts?

Ahearn 100% shooting, good d, 4 or 5 fouls but they came late in an effort to catch up. 1 rebound too. I think he played solid.
why no love?
D. Washington had the best day. Kid looks great so far!
Majri showed to be a hoss too!
I hope Kanter and Burks can improve.
Because Ahearn is supposed to be a point guard. A facilitator. How many assists did he get? One, in almost 18 minutes? We don’t need a spot up shooter as a back up pg.
Washington was fantastic. To be the leading scorer on the least amount of minutes by a player (Other than the two DNPs) is spectacular.
I wouldn’t worry about Kanter or Burks. It’s a summer league game. They didn’t play their game at all, and we’ve seen what they’re capable of.
I am not worried about Kanter or Burks its one game. Its not like we were running any kind of plays. I was so impressed with Stockton, it literally warmed my heart to see him play so hard
Yeah Diana, Stockton looked awesome! He held down a possible future allstar in brandon knight. Hit his open three and got into the lane to get some assists down low. He looked SO much like his dad. Fun to hear the announcers rave too. There is just something about Hall of Famer kin that shouldnt get overlooked.
That block Kanter had was real impressive. He looks more comfortable defensively. want to see him step out and shoot midrange!
Well summer league is where they send players to further their development.
So should we really expect polished post moves and perfect passing and perfectly ran plays?
Also, bigs take longer to develop, especially bigs who just started playing basketball 5 years ago and didn’t get to play in college for a year, then no pre-season, and little practicing during a compressed 66-game season.
Today’s game was much better. Burks was a monster. And I hope we pick up little Stockton. Its so reminiscent to watch him play. Some of his play is a little unorthodox, but he’s a smart young player.
Ahearn, 6.29 minutes, 1 rebound 1 steal 3 assists……
What now Andrew??
Project the minutes up to the other players. There’s your point guard….facilitator
Patrick, you really need to stop A earn thumping. Three assists may as well be one assist. He’s an okay shooter, but that’s the extent of it. He’s not nearly as good a player as you ,make him out to be.
I guess not! He just produces in every way when he is on the floor….ststs don’t lie!
From what I remember of Ahearn last year, he wasn’t a good ballhandler and turned it over a lot.
That’s not really who you want as your PG.
He’s not very athletic, so you stick him at the two, he’s a threat as a spot up shooter, but there’s a LOT of good shooting guards in the NBA he’ll have to guard on the otehr end.
Exactly, stats DONT lie. Which is why he was completely invisible.
