this is horrible news to me making me think the deadline will come and go like nothing. It’s going to Hurt the development of kanter mainly I mean the kid played 11 min in the last two games. If no player trades at least a coaching change please.

  2. Same old same old for the Utah Jazz.

Yep content with a 7-8 seed and a sweep

And people gave me hell cuz I stated Al was Jazz franchise player. Al is the Jazz franchise player: when you lead the team in FG attempts; minutes; salary; and the offense is run through him….you are the franchise player.

Maybe I am over reacting, but I really am treating the deadline like the future of the Jazz depends on it! The Jazz championship prospects over the next 5-7 years will be determined in about 3 weeks! If Jazz don’t trade Al, they are going to resign Al?! Hello mediocrity and bye bye Favors and Kanter—and Burks, and probably Hayward….and for sure bye bye championship.

What I dont get is how anyone can talk and say Al is a high quality player, etc, and yet be okay with Jazz letting him walk: if you think Al is so good, why would you give him up for nothing?! So really there should only be 2 parties: resign Al or trade Al—if you think Al is that good, you either want him resigned or traded.

After trade deadline, my expectations over the next 5-7 years will be determined.

I am sure that they are not content to be a 7-8 seed , I am sure that they see where they are with this core of guys . Its hard to miss that we are missin a couple of peices of the puzzle . Everybody else sees it so I am sure the FO sees it to .
The question I have is what is out there that will fill those needs and who is willing to trade us for those peices ? There might not ba anyone that is willing to give us what we need with the price it might cost us to get it . I would hate to give up any of the young guys fot it , but I think that is what it might take to get a deal done .
So with that in mind do you think that pay that price ? I am just sayin .
Go Jazz I still beleive in ya all !!!!!!

The basic question comes back to, who you get back in a trade or free agency?

Last year I was hoping they could get back a 2nd rounder, or TPE, for Howard or Miles to a contending team, or pawn Toxic Raja off on someone, because you didn’t want to see inefficient players return anyway.

If the price is right, the Jazz could bring back some of their own UFAs or go shopping.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see no trades, 3rd party to a trade or a key trade. It just depends on what’s coming back and what it does to their cap flexibility.

The only solace I take in a trade not happening is the $40 million KOC will be sitting on leading up to the draft and free agency – Jazz might have even greater leverage and buying power at that time, when teams get slapped w real luxury tax. BUT if no trade now, at least force Ty to play the kids. Don’t care to see early playoff exit and low draft pic.

  8. Matt says:

You guys all are funny. The trade has to be worth it, I am sure they have entertained many offers. The fact is, we are not going to trade them away for garbage. It has to improve the team or give them a future such as draft picks rookies etc…

They probably won’t trade, but no trade is better than taking another teams garbage and being stuck with bad contracts etc…

Might be in our best interests to wait and let them walk and have room to sign someone else.

Don’t get me wrong, i’m not happy about our situation. I have however stepped back to look at the larger picture lately.

The thing is, okay lets say Jazz want cap space? Okay, if thats the case, why is your number #3 pick, future center averaging 13 minutes, and last two games 6 and 5 minutes?! LOL!! I known none of us are GMs, but damn thats pretty dumb!

Thats the most frustrating part! Jazz have no direction it seems, unless the plan is too resign Al, trade Millsap, and hope Favors on an expiring contract resigns, and Kanter the following year.

Meanwhile, that cap space will go towards keeping the same roster, minus Millsap, while resign Foye to more money, and still being weak at the PG?! Just add up the numbers with resigning Al—even at 10M, it doesnt work with resigning C4 AND improving the PG position. Its prettt much going to be this roster minus Millsap and few other players like Marvin, maybe DC.

  10. TACOREV says:

Aarrrghgh Omar stop saying the phrase, “re-sign Al”! I can’t bear the thought of that. Even if he was re-signed for $1 million per year, I would be devastated. Literally. I would curl into the fetal position with my thumb in my mouth, weeping and wailing until I wasted away.

  11. Omar says:

Lol, Taco! My whole basketball world will collapse on itself! If the Jazz resign Al an angel loses their wings.

I actually felt the Jazz would win a championship in like 2 years. Resigning Al, forget that. Unless no other team offers Favors a good contract and Kanter doesnt mind being a bencher for most of his new contact….I doubt it.

  12. Marty says:

The Jazz’ brass is unwilling to take back a bad contract for Al. I can understand that, but that just leaves the option & temptation of re-signing Al. I agree with many of you that re-signing Al ruins any chance of improvement for the next 5 years. No good trade offers, let him walk. I don’t want to see him next year, even if he agreed to play for free!

Al is being treated like a franchise player, yet he is not one. Why is there no good trade offers? Because he’s not worth it!

I’m hoping against hope that after the trade deadline, we see the kids with the minutes they need (and deserve) and quit showcasing our soon-to-be FA middle of the road vets!

When I see the season ticket renewal packet, I’m asking for a no-Al guarantee. If they re-sign Al, I want my money back!

As for toxic Raja, he won’t be waived until after March 1 just out of spite, as he’d be ineligible for any playoff roster.

  13. TACOREV says:

I wish you were right Marty, I really do. But last year, freaking Josh Howard and C.J. Miles were both on expiring contracts, didn’t get traded, and Corbin played them as much as he could. If the deadline passes with no deals, I have little doubt that Corbin will only continue his bone-headed rotations just the way they are.

  14. Marty says:

I’m afraid you’re right, but I’ve got to hope for something…
It’s gotten to the point where the only part of the game I enjoy is the last two minutes of the first & into the second quarter!
I try not to let tickets go to waste, but it’s hard to give them away right now. This team is not fun to watch when Al’s on the floor, and his floor time is creeping up to the 35 min. range!
I’ve known for a long time that the Jazz model is to try to be good enough to remain profitable, assuring their future in Utah, etc.
With the amount of no-shows continuing to increase and the team not improving, is good enough really ‘good enough’? Especially when ‘even better’ may just be sitting on the bench waiting for a chance….

    PLAY THE KIDS, TY!

  15. Omar says:

You right Marty! Even on tv you can tell the game doesnt feel like it use too; I could image in person you can see the large number of empty seats. Its pretty sad.
