addition by subtraction

i think that its time to get realistic.  all of these trade ideas i have been reading on this site are nice to drem about but i really dont think any decent basketball mind in the league is going to give us anything decent back for big black hole jefferson.  on a good team he will put up 17 ppg and make them worse on a bad team hell put up 20 ppg… and make them worse.  Anybody that has ever touched a basketball can see that any team playing Al more than 20 min a night has no chance of ever getting out of the first round. ever.  i would honestly be happy to get a draft pick for Al.  if we got calderone for Al i would be happy.  i say wwe quit saying we need this great piece in return for Al.  we will have two great pieces when we dump him already (favors, kanter).  whens the last time anyone saw Al protect the rim like favors always does or the last time al ran the floor and played with fire like kanter does?  i dont think we need anything in return for big al, just please dump him and unleash our teams future please

Fair enough, but if we want him gone this season, some team is gonna have to return about 15 mil of salary.

totally agree I said it a lot of months ago.

addition by subtraction……That’s impossible what does that even mean? (The Office)

    amnesty his ass lol!

I’ve been saying this for a while now. Sometimes you’re just better off dumping dead weight and cutting your losses.

  6. I have been the most vocal on this site about this since about 12 months ago. I was calling for trades. Everyone said be patient the time will come. And now what are we hearing? Well there is no trades to really make!? WELL YA THINK!! It is cause you guys did NOTHING while all the other teams in the league were moving around there big contracts. We could have gotten in a multitude of those deals! Would you have taken Ben Gordon for that pick that the Bobcats got out of that trade? I sure as heck would! Would you take the pick OKC got for trading Harden? I would. Or any of Houston picks from this year? I mean there was SOOO many opportunities and obviously we did not pull the trigger cause we over valued that sorry tool and now Millsap has been struggling because this log jam that is not an issue has become an issue!! Which by the way I also said this whole time!

I kept saying what happens when Kanter takes the steps Favors did and deserves more time where is that going to come from?? There was not an answer. He deserves more time and we can not give it to him.

But then Corbin would have to come up with an offense that gets people open shots. I’m skeptical that’s possible.

    You snooze you lose……

KOC would be a crashing bore in Las Vegas!

  9. I disagree. There is high value in big men. look at the crazy max contracts given to equal or worse centers. while I agree we need a trade soon, I dont want a crappy draft pick or another mediocre player taking up minutes.(which I think Corbin would do) I dont think its far fetched to get a good player or a solid back up pg. Wall would be one of the best scenarios cause he aint staying in washington. We would have to throw in draft picks and other players. I still like Calderon and Derozan.

What would happen if you take Big Al’s 33 minutes and add them to the minutes Enes and Derrick already play for a total of 35 minutes each/game. You have almost doubled the time your two future bigs are on the floor, by subtracting Big Als minutes. ie “Addition by subtraction”

You get much better defense and ball movement. You lose some offense, but that becomes less as they play more and develop their offensive game. Enes is already demanding double and triple teams down low, he just needs to pass out for open 3s better, which he’s doing. Running the floor and rebounding should improve.

You lose Big Als crunch time stats, which are more impressive and depth on the bench.

Amnesty only works for the team giving the contract, in this case MN, not the Jazz.

The Jazz would only have to take back about $10m (150% rule) not $15m, but could take back up to $22.5m for his $15m salary.

@Jazzaholic: That being the case sometimes you have to give up a excellent player to get one back.
Trade idea would be AL, Bell,Watson, and Hayward. Let me explain. Hayward is in his third year. He should be one of the leaders and a double double most nights. Most would agree he is either hot or cold. Will he ever reach his potential here?? Would he be more value with other pieces in return??
Al leaving would help at the logjam. No need for so many points. (Watson), Bell self explanatary.

Players Jazz could get back (probably three to four players.)(Just ideas)
Bledsoe, Wall, Beal, george, granger,Hibbert,Valanciunas,DeRozan, Calderon, Bargs,Walker, MKG,Derrick Williams, Love, A host of Rockets. Remember 150% of Jazz players in trade. They equal around 23 Million.
Pacers love Hayward big time. I think he would be thrilled to go there. He would be the key but AL salary would return the players. Love Hayward but would this be worth it?? What would you want back??

  12. L.K.Anderson says:

Bargs is hurt right now.Gray has been around, probably just a little better than Fess. I do like Wall.
Any trade I think Bell needs to go. And if any more point guards come in Watson should go also.
I am surprised some team has not done something yet.
