Here’s an article from Yardbarker with Fox Sports regarding our two new additions, Jefferson and Bell. Breaks down what they bring and how it’ll affect the Lakers.

@Champ…thanks for the link. I like it, especially where he calls Bell “vicious” and “mean.” That’s what we need!

I do think the article misses Korver…it says Bell will provide an off-the-ball shooter it hasn’t had in the past. Clearly, Korver provided that, though Bell is obviously a better all-around player, an upgrade (and actually a slightly better career 3-point shooter than Korver).

I think the end of the article is key…it says the Jazz have their building blocks (Williams and Jefferson) secure, and when Kirilenko’s contract expires they will have room to work to acquire the role players. So while the body of the article discusses our chances of competing with the Lakers next year, I think the Jazz being “situated to contend,” as the article states, depends on the building around Williams and Jefferson implied toward the end.

I loved Korver as a shooter, a hustler, and he never gave up. He had heart. My only problem with him was that he couldn’t create his own shot. Ever.

  3. Jeff says:

@James…Yeah, I agree with you, the next few moves will be key for title contention. The one thing I do hope for is that AK will stay for a big enough pay cut to make that happen. I’d love to keep him here. You’d hope that he’d want to stay for less (much less) for a chance to win a title.

@Jeff…yup. Ideally, Kirilenko would sort of “give back” by playing for less considering he has been overpaid for several years now. I know it doesn’t usually end up that way, though he did say he’d stay in Utah for less. How much less is the question, I suppose.

James, it’s nice to be appreciated by a bot, it’s like your one of us, and not only on the left side of the screen.

  6. @Jeff and James- 6-8 Million for Kirilenko depending on his season this year would be alright with me but I’m with you guys because I love having AK in a Jazz jersey.

@Champ- Thanks for the link bro…I never get on many sports websites so its awesome of you to repost the good stuff so I don’t have to wade through trash to get to stuff I actually want to read. Thanks boss.

No Problem, Boon. I like reading articles and if I come across a good Jazz article I always pass it along.
