Meet
Perspective

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. Our team finished the season so well and everyone’s expectations were blown away. Actually making it into the playoffs has only increased our hopes and probably also our expectations. So… here we are. Down 0-3 to the sickeningly consistent Spurs. I’m frustrated, depressed, distraught, and to be honest a bit hopeless. This season is essentially over for us.
I was about to go to bed tonight and sleep off my mood, but instead decided to leave the TV on and watch the post-game and I’m glad I did. Phil Johnson said something that helped to bring things back into perspective for me. We are an 8 seed playing against a 1 seed. I decided to check the records of the league as a whole. I found that the Spurs are still a 1 seed, but we are actually a 15 seed.
According to nearly every expert around the league, we weren’t supposed to have a winning season at all let alone make the playoffs. Yet here we are, against all odds in a shortened/compact season with no preseason. Are there still problems with line-ups, rotations, match ups, energy, rebounding, experience? Yes… all of the above. This is why we are not a 1 seed and why the Spurs are. It still sucks that we are losing so badly, but at least I have had the reminder to keep things in perspective. With this young core, the future is bright.

Future can be bright. Let say you take Al and Sap out of the picture and Favors and Kanter step in and do as we all hope they will. Lets add to it that Burks and Hayward turn out as we hope as well. That leaves us wanting. What you say. Look a little closer.
Burks and Hayward SG’s
Favors PF/Center
Kanter Center/PF
Thats our future. So whats our current situation?
Hayward/Burks SG. Still need improvement
Millsap/Favors. Both doing well, though Favors will improve.
Al/Kanter. Both doing well, though Kanter will improve.
Hmm, not much difference except we are more deep this year than in our future. In the future we may even be better, but we still have the same holes.
We need a PG, Harris wasnt mentioned, because even in his recent decent play, he is a SG no a PG. We also need a SF who can be consistent, can this be Carroll? I dread that he may turn out to be the new Wes Mathews and gone in a yr, but way to early to even think about. No one else has warranted mentioning, since they can be replaced with similar caliber players quite easily. Maybe Carroll proves me wrong, but its way to early to tell.
Thats perspective.
Future is bright Ben!!! Jazz beat the odds this year, Im frustrated with getting beat in the paint but Spurs are good.
Future is bright if we keep it.
GO JAZZ GO
I think Evans could still be in the mix. The biggest problem that needs to be fixed is Corbin promising Vetrans playing time when they don’t deserve it. Yes there are times when they need to work through a slump but it does not take a dozen games. Yes I am speaking of Bell and Howard. Let them go. Play the best players Start and Finish..
