Harris deserves credit
Posted by: Bracken Fryar on April 23rd, 2012
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I have to admit I was hoping Devin Harris was gone at the trade deadline. I have been among the biggest of Harris haters this season. But I think he deserves some recognition and credit for how he has stepped up this month. I was looking at his stats and thought I would share some:
March: FG 40% 3pT 31% AST 5.6 TO 1.9 PPG 11.1 Team record: 11-8 57.9 winning percentage.
April: FG 45% 3PT 43% AST 5.8 TO 1.6 PPG 18.0 Team record: 7-4 63.6 winning percentage.
Awesome. The only thing that has been significantly worse this month is his FT%, which is impotant, but jeeze this guy has been playing clutch. So continue on Devin, let’s get this Phoenix win. Go Jazz!
P.S. practice those free throws please.

Yes he deserves, he’s an unnespected surprise at this time.
Harris has been playing balls to the wall for the past month and a half! He’s awesome! (As long as January-February Harris doesn’t come back).
Count me among those that wanted Harris traded. I’m glad Corbin stayed by him, Harris’s and Hayward’s improved shooting is really what has put us in the playoff hunt.
This is what happens when you keep a group together. I don’t expect Harris to continue to shoot the ball this well but I think we’re seeing the level of play that we’re going to continue to see. This is why KOC and the Jazz have always made minimal changes to their roster (AK, Memo, Boozer, Deron were together for a long and KOC kept with that group) This is also why I don’t want to see anybody not named CJ or Raja traded.
I pretty well agree with this post. I never hated Harris, but I didn’t have much faith in him. Well, now I AM a believer and hope that he stays. With the addition of whatever draft picks we end up getting, we’re going to be tough to beat in the future. KOC should also get kudos for setting us up to get what we need in a variety of ways. It’s going to be exciting.
So glad they did not trade Harris for brokedown Felton!!! I think once the tradeline passes Harris was finally able to just play ball and do it with confidence, since he knew hes staying.
I wouldn’t mind if eventually, Harris took on a Jason Terry type role with jazz, only with a new contract though, less pay.
Harris has been killing it. The guy just needed time to figure out his role. He’s one of the FASTEST players in the NBA. I always believed that Harris was better than Sessions and the guy from Toronto that everyone wanted to trade for. Calderon.
The fact that Harris overcame legitimate hatred, mockery and dismissal from Jazz fans, and is now one of our best players, just goes to show his work ethic and heart.
No one was more upset with Harris than Harris was when he was playing poorly.
I’m very for him, and for our team, that he feels comfortable and is now a key member of our team.
Lets beat the Suns!
But yeah Omar is right, his paycheck is just a little too high. Harris needs to work on his free throws.
Lance Archibald is right on the money. You need to keep a team together and allow for some growing pains. Only then can you truly be a TEAM.
Ya plus i think hell like that roll, and being that he has nounced around and always being involved in trade talked hed want a permanent situation as a back up that still would close games most nights. Plus he would nt play massive minutes and could extend his career. Plus less pressure on a young PG rookie if jazz go that way.
Devin Harris is a great starter for the Jazz! He’s worth every penny of his salary!
He has been brilliant since All -Star break. What the hell did he do that weekend?
Lol Disco, my guess is a date with CJ miles hot sister
I tried to look up to see CJ Miles sister, but all I got was the porn CJ Miles, and her sister.
