The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.At the end of last year, Greg Miller mentioned he was traveling around looking at replacements for the AGING Jumbo Tron, it’s been kinda quiet about it lately anyone have any news on this? Greg?

I hope he does. That would be really cool.
I vote for a Hologram O Tron
Last I heard they were saying they hoped to have it replaced by the 2013-2014 Season. I haven’t heard anything since then though.
This is the most practical post Ive ever seen on J360.
The Jumbo Tron is hardly worthy of Jumbo being in its name. I think that upgrading the Jumbo Tron would be a great move. In my opinion, the arenas need to provide a superior experience to watching on TV to keep filling the seats.
@Jared
You hit it right on the head. Here’s the bonus of watching in HD at home: You start the game a half hour to an hour later (DVR’d!) and then you can just skip over commercials and all the other game stoppages (I actually Fast Forward through bringing the ball up to half court). I blaze through games without having to be bombarded by the billions of advertisements. Imagine showing up to the arena for a game an hour late, getting real good seats halfway up the lower bowl, and by the time you get there, they had already done all the timeouts, half time show, etc. and all that was left was an hour solid of actual basketball playing! THAT’s what HD TV and DVR has done for me. AND I don’t have to pay $5-$20 to park my car. A silly Jumbo Tron isn’t going to change any of that.
As for attending, I went to a few games last year and was amazed by the level of commercialization at the arena. It’s maybe worse than watching live TV, cuz you can at least go to the fridge or something at home. It’s like the announcers can’t wait for the action to end so they can try to sell you more crap.
I was surprised after going to the suns games and lakers games and a few other teams how much better you can see the jumbo tron. Then u go to utah and u might as well try watching to game from afar then watch the screen because you cant even see the screen. Good post i hope they switch it out
I think my favorite part of this post is “Greg?” at the end of it, speaking to the owner on first name basis and suggesting that he should read and reply to the blog post.
