The Jazz always suck!

Nothing ever changes! The seasons may change, the players may change, the coach may change, the owner may change, the GM may change. and even the name of the building may change but the Utah Jazz ALWAYS SUCK! What is wrong? Is it the air we breathe in Utah (or for the best part of every season, the Smog, Inversion, Etc)?  They always seem to play the same and lose the same.  I’m a lifelong Utah resident and, for many years, a Jazz season ticket holder.  Why can’t they ever seem to live up to their potential? Are the always destined to disappoint? Why can’t we ever have a “Great Team” with “Great Players” and why can’t we ever win an NBA Championship? WHAT IS REALLY WRONG WITH THE UTAH JAZZ?????

  1. To give the Jazz a little credit, we actually are one of the most consistent at winning seasons in the league. There are alot of teams in the NBA that would be painful to be a fan with. Golden State, Bobcats, Toronto, Orlando, Phoenix, etc. where they just never put together much or lose players without getting anything in return. Im on board with your frustration. We have maintained a mediocre environment for our team.

We dont go big for talent or take risks once in awhile for a long term reward. Some risk is necessary to take that leap to Elite.

Lakers ALWAYS do this. Heat just did this. And the thunder did it without spending money like LA and Miami. So it is possible for a small market team to take risk and I think that Houston might be the next small market team to be a contending team.

So thats whats frustrating. It seems that Jazz philosophy is that success= making the playoffs every year. Completely mediocre thinking or managing. And its not just a couple years. We have a large sample of this philosophy in action. Its not working. We had 3 hall of famers and lost to Jordan. But thats only 2 years that we actually tried to be legit contenders. Stock and Malone in their prime and we actually did what it took to get a better support cast (Carr, Russel, Hornacek, etc.).

The frustration right now is that we are making completely mediocre moves with this team. Im sorry but IMO moving Corbin up to head coach was a mediocre move. Not playing Burks or not trading him if you dont like him is mediocre. He has high value to teams in the league.

We did not do well with assets last year. We lost CJ, Howard, and Bell with no return. Its happening again this year but with much higher calibur and more expensive players. If FO comes out with a Dwill type trade with Al, Millsap, and whoever else then we are taking a steps in the right direction. But if we just lose that talent with no return, then we are taking a huge step back.

  2. @jazzed – Houston is one of the five largest markets in the US.

I do agree, the Jazz goal is to remain towards the top of the middle every year … Its hard to see what the front office sees, especially since they are so secretive about everything. I’m hoping to see something different from Dennis Lindsey..
