Superstitions

Posted by: Benjamin on December 4th, 2010

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I have an uncle. He attends Jazz games every so often. However, everytime he does the Jazz lose. For the entirety of the seven game win streak my uncle was nowhere near the Energy Solutions Arena, needless to say, he was in attendance against Dallas.

I have a CJ Miles T-shirt I bought when the Jazz beat the Lakers. I didn’t wash it untill the Jazz lost last night. I remember a post about a sweater that may or may not hold magical powers. I am not saying that any of these articles of clothing have any impact on whether the Jazz win or lose. I do like to think however, that my smelly t-shirt, and my uncle home with his family, will gaurantee the Jazz a win.

My question to anyone that reads this is, What are your Jazz Superstitions?

  1. Not mine, my friends:

-what you eat, which depends on who your with at crown burger before the game. He switches it up from shakes, to corn dogs, to burgers, depending on whether he’s on a date, with family, or friends.

-if don’t wear a jersey and we lose, its your fault.

-if you are late or on time to a game can change a W from a L if your with him.

-what jersey you wear to a game vs what oppenent matters.

-You can’t watch any playoff game at the grandma’s (0-3 last year) but regular season is reccomended (2-0 this year)

and he pretty much comes up with a new one for every loss or win..

  2. Van says:

I was just joking with my wife since we havent had cable this year the 3 games I haved went over to a friends house or watched at the sports bar (Phoenix, Oklohoma at home, and now Dallas) we have all lost, and quite miserably too.

Guess I will stick to radio for a while.

Also if you check out the Jazz’s record when they play on ESPN verus playing on TNT its pretty shocking, atleast last year. AN ESPN televised game for some reason the Jazz just never show up…

  3. Every time my wife sits down to watch the game, the Jazz tend to play poorly. There were a couple of times during the comeback streak where the team was losing until she leaves to watch one of her other shows and the. Be it as it may, she has recognized this herself and been courteous enough to stay away when the Jazz play.
