While I don’t exactly share your opinion on the state of things, I am frustrated by the fact that KOC is afraid to go after any big deals. Sometimes you need to take a significant risk to reap a significant reward. He’s content swapping bench players while other teams take a risk for the chance to make their team more competitive. He would almost certainly reject ANY deal involving any of our young guys. It’s been all about the future. Focus on the present for once. Take a step into reality for a minute and look at everyone on our team as an asset capable of being traded for a better return. Sure, KOC did the Deron deal, but his hand was somewhat forced on that one.
Your caps lock are scary
I don’t bother reading whatever crap you write because it’s just too damn ugly. Learn to type.
Brandon, nice whin. The funny thing is you truly believe you know what KOC is doing or not doing? Please share the info with us since you seem to be the only fly on the wall who does know exactly what KOC is up to.
This may help you see where the value is right now in not selling our soul to a high ticket player…
INSIDER – Jazz salary flexibility and what it might allow them to do
Posted on March 13, 2012
The Jazz have some interesting flexibility with their salary structure. Other than Hayward, Favors, Burks and Kanter the Jazz have no players under contract in the 2013-14 season. These can be looked at in two ways. One the Jazz are unlikely to add a player whose contract goes into that period. This is an important time in the NBA because it is when the new putative luxury tax under the new collective bargaining agreement kicks in.
However, the other angle is that because Burks will be earning just 2.3 million and Hayward will be earning just 3.4 million that Jazz could easily add a third wing player who earns more money than their value because the allotment for the position would not be out of whack.
My assumption on the front court would be the Jazz will have Favors and Kanter and either Jefferson or Millsap under contract by that point so adding another big seems unlikely.
What this flexibility could allow the Jazz to do is move one of their expiring contracts (CJ) or short contracts (Raja) for a player with 2 or 3 years left on their deal knowing that can handle that extra money.
Some players that fit under that are Wesley Matthews with Portland who has 3 years after this year at 19 million. That is way too much for what Wesley delivers, but the Jazz might be able to absorb that considering the aforementioned salary situation.
Another player would be Marvin Williams of the currently luxury tax paying Hawks who has 2 years after this for 17 million. Again, over paid but maybe the Jazz would be willing to absorb.
Shaun Marion has 3 years left at 8 million a year. The Mavericks are interested in moving him for to clear space for Deron and Dwight but only if they know they are going to ger Deron and Dwight.
A wild card would be Jason Richardson of the Magic at 3 more years around 6 a year.
We will see how the Jazz approach this flexibility .
Utah is a tuff place to go for a big time player buddy. We get a great player in here and usually they don’t want to stay long im not saying they shouldn’t make an attempt to go for guys like dwight but, its very hard to get a player of that caliber to stay in utah. Why would we want bogut when we have al anyways? Bogut is a great player but, you are comparing him to al al wins hands down everytime. Al maybe the second best center in the league bogut when healthy is top five at best. Plus we don’t need bigs we need to get rid of bigs to make room for kanter and favors. Who both have the talent in my opinion to be better then bogut ever could be. Wayne and green is exactly what we need we are getting younger and, also getting two guys that. Can spread the court. Nothing has happend yet either so not sure who the jazz are going to get. A trade will be made though there is to much talk going on for a trade not to be made by utah
Those are all Bigs, and the Jazz don’t need bigs… so guys like Ellington and Green better fit the Jazz’s needs. It would be nice if the Jazz could pick up some Superstar point guard, but what would they have to give up? This is Salt Lake City, not Miami. players don’t want to come here.
Chill. Let’s wait until Thursday before we freak out.
I DIDN’T BOTHER TO READ THIS ARTICLE..SORRY BRO!
