TINSLEY, BEST PG!

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

It should be obvious to anyone watching the Jazz, that has even the slightest basketball sense that Jamal Tinsley is the best PG on the team. Just look at his ball handling, how he stays calm under pressure and how he controls the offense, look at his numbers in the past 4 games (50% from 3-point land) which is something that the Jazz desperately need. He is 6′3 which means he can post up on a lot of under sized guards. He is a pass first guard just like Stockton but if need be can obviously score and take over a game. He runs like 5 miles or more a day and doesn’t seem to get caught up whinning at the refs, he just stays focused and plays his game, his passing is amazing, he is on point almost always and rarely turns the ball over. I could go on for a while, BUT of course do you think the man who calls himself a coach will if anything atleast move him to back up point guard I realy doubt he is that smart. Boulerjack and Harpring have all but come out and said that he should be considered for back u p and possibly more, Bolerjack reffered to him as possibly the best PURE point guard in the league. but Watson when he comes back will be put right back where he left off, I like Watson I realy do and I even made an argument earlier in the year that he maybe should start over Harris, thats when Harris was realy struggling to fing his way on the team, of course a lot has xhanges since then and Tinsley is CLEARLY the man and should be running the team as the starting point guard, not riding the pine, and if we don’t give him something more, he will be on another team somewhere else and we will be watching another ex Jazz player kick ass on another team,,Corbin for the LOVE of all,,,,PLEASE open your damn eyes.

Mate, if Corbin opened his eyes we’d have a very different team. Burks would be freed, sap would be 6th man and as you say Tinsley would get more time

I dont disagree that Tinsley may be the better man at the PG position, but he isnt the future. He will fizzle out before we hit our stride, and though he is the best we have, he is not a top tier guy.

Disco, I understand your passion, but are you sure your right? Seems to me that Favors doesnt do quite as well with Al on the floor. I remember when Al came to us and everyone wanted him to be a PF. He will be the first to tell you he is better suited at the Center position. I am not saying its the same for Favors, but he does seem to do his best games starting along side Paul Millsap. Maybe him and Al will prove me wrong some night, but right now it seems that whoever plays along side Al, doesnt seem to do as well as when playing with Sap. Nothing against big Al, maybe its a fluke, but the numbers show me as correct.

  3. @Patrick the reason is because Al commands so much of the offensive possessions. Even when he is passing out he has to touch the ball a ton. This does not help Favors. That is why Jefferson and Millsap do not even have good games or even quarters really together. The focus goes to one or the other guy. That is why most nights the 2nd unit runs more freely and smoothly then the 1st because there is not a need to run every play through one guy. They are all just playing ball as Hayward said yesterday and one guy does not care more about his stats then the other guy. Hayward would probably just as much like to have 10 assists as he would to score 10 points and you can see that in his game.

i completely agree with you brandon.. Tinsley is the best Point Guard on this team! He may not be the most talented or most athletic, but when it comes to playing point guard no one on this team is better!
And you described him perfectly brandon, he is cool and calm, plays smart, and never gets rattled. His ball handling is amazing, he brings that new york swagger to this team. The guy is a stud! Play him more!

  5. Guido says:

Yes he is. old school pg, I love it.

  6. KCJones says:

I love a point guard who can create for others. Tinsley is great it at. I like his post moves too. I have to say, though. That in the starting unit, the plan seems to be ‘pass the ball to Big Al’. And a Harris alongside that, who can slash on his own and score, is probably just fine. I’ve been saying all along there are guys on the bench who should be seeing at least 5 min a game. Tinsley and Evans. Maybe they’ll let us field 6 guys on the court so everyone that needs minutes can get them haha.

  7. I LOVE love love love Earl Watson. But Jamaal Tinsley is without a doubt the better point guard.

  8. Chris says:

Tinsley and Watson are both terrible basketball players. Jamaal was still -11 on the night in a game we won last night, by the way.

Most teams’ backup PGs are miles better than any PG on our roster, though Harris is better than some backups. We’re desperately lacking at the PG and SG position. The most underrated Jazz player is STILL Millsap. That guy is the leader on this team and the main reason we’re winning. Although let’s be honest, the main reason we won last night was Kobe Bryant =P

  9. Chris says:

Just took a little closer look actually. Tinsley went 1-6 last night with more turnovers (3) than assists (2). What the heck are you smoking? He’s the worst player on the Jazz, maybe the worst player who gets any minutes in the entire NBA.

  10. Steve says:

HA.. chris obviously knows a lot about basketball..

  11. What are you smokin, he struggled last night, that was the first time in 4 games, Watson struggled backing up Harris for like 9 games before he finaly had a decent game, and Watson doesn’t hit 50% from behind the arch fool.

  12. Thanks Steve. You obviously have been paying attention and know basketball, people like Chris don’t pay attention, Bolerjack and Harpring were pretty much saying that he is the best pg we have, as I already stated, Bolerjack said he considers him the best PURE point guard in the league, are you going to argue with guys who have been in and around the sport for 20 years whatever dude.
