What about Jamal Crawford?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Jamal Crawford who just won the 6th man of the year award with the Atlanta Hawks.
6′6″ guard 190 lbs
18 points per game, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, last years average stats.
Crawford is angry that Joe Johnson got so much money and so many years so quick and that the Hawks Org. are dragging their feet on getting JC an extension. In fact rumor is that they are trying to get Horford a new deal before Crawfords. What about figuring out some sort of trade to get him to Utah for additional Offensive threat? Hes looking for another 3-4 year deal with the looming lockout, but I fear a little too expensive. Without having access to all the rumor mills, it seems he expects 9-10 million per year. With the Jazz already over the luxary I don’t see how they could pull it off or who they have that would be worth the trade. Do we have any exceptions available to cover his costs? What would the Hawks want that we have to offer? Finding a 3 team 3 way swap and future draft picks might be the only option, but again it comes down to who would we be willing to give up for him. If Tomic comes through next year than our main shortfall would be the 2, although Tomic appears to be more of an Offensive big man verse a defensive one.
I just find it interesting that the Hawks are either playing it cool or really don’t care to lose such a valuable player for their team.
Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I don’t have a lot of thoughts, just know that the Jazz don’t have the financial means to pay much more in salary unless they have a realistic shot at the champeenship. It doesn’t look so realistic when you get swept by the Lakers and lose three starters to free agency. Granted, they got pretty well replaced, but its yet to see how the new guys jive. In short, I don’t see the Jazz getting any more guys at this time except minimum guys to fill out the roster.
Hawks on the other hand hate to spend money even more than the Jazz. So its not so baffling to me that they haven’t extended Jamal, but it is baffling that they gave Joe Johnson the max contract right after he disappeared in the playoffs.
Hopefully there’s team issues, because the Hawks have seemed to give the Jazz fits these last couple years, and I’d like to see that change
It won’t happen, sorry.
Jamal Crawford would certainly add a new dimension to our bench–an instant scorer who doesn’t need anytime to get warmed up. That said, his large contract makes it difficult to obtain. He’s an expiring contract, so if he does indeed become available, a lot of teams would be willing to throw deals at Atlanta. Which Jazz players would we use to broker a deal? I don’t know if there’s a package that would make sense for both the Hawks and Jazz.
He’s be a great addition, but The only way we could do it is to trade AK.
I’d rather keep AK and resign him next year for 7-9 Mill. If Tomic comes over he’ll add a lot of length to us. That will be an epic matchup, Jazz vs Lakers once we have Tomic. They won’t have that huge advantage over us, imagine this lineup: Williams, Bell, AK, Jefferson, Tomic vs. Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Gasol, Bynum. Pretty Even overall.
Obviously Deron is better than Goldfish.
Bryant is better offensively than Bell, but Bell is better defensively.
AK and Artest are pretty similar, Though Artest is heavier, AK is quicker and longer.
Gasol Is taller than Jefferson but AJ has length that let’s him match up against Gasol.
Tomic Is taller and longer than Bynum but Bynum is Larger, might push around Tomic.
So It might be better to switch AJ and Tomic. Tomic would probably get pushed around by Bynum, but AJ would not.
The Jazz are done with moves this season nothing else big will happen
