Eat it Devin Harris Haters!

I’m super happy the Jazz won tonight! What a great win. I’m sick of hearing how Devin Harris is the worst PG in the league, blah blah blah.. He’s not the best, and he’s not the worst. Stop bashing and appreciate what we have! Without him the Jazz don’t beat Miami.

Go Jazz!

Best post ive read in awhile. Im sick of the trade Harris posts and how he does not fit the jazz system. Can someone tell me what the system is.

  2. Zach says:

When your starting PG has 3 games in a row of around 5 points and 2 assists, there is good reason for concern. Two weeks ago I was fully advocating trading Devin(NOT for Rondo), but he has completely turned his game and attitude around and deserves to have the hate, which was earned in the first half of this season, go away now. It’s super refreshing to see him using his speed and pushing the ball. Now let’s just hope he keeps it up.

  3. There was always reason for concern when he was doing so bad. I’ve been saying tho, its tough to judge a guy who hasn’t had an offseason with the team nor a full season.
Go Jazz and Good Job Devin Harris!

  4. TACOREV says:

I’m glad he’s played well the last couple games, so his trade value will go up. Maybe some team will take him off our hands after all. I like the guy, but he’s inconsistent, bad on defense, and doesn’t fit the Jazz offense well enough.

I’ve never said he’s the worst PG, he definitely has his strengths, but he’s far from the answer here and far from what we need. So keep it up Devin, make your trade value sky rocket before March 15th.

  5. I think he deserved to be traded the way he was playing but he has stepped it up. If he keeps it up I have no problem him being here. I was excited when we got him but have been disappointed by his lackluster play but he has done well of late!

  6. theres nothing to hate, im stoked he played great. his value just peaked. if game winning shots make a player then we need to quit wasting time and sign sundiata gaines. Harris played great in clutch time. He also had a few horrendous turnovers for a starting point gaurd. Hes an SG. We need a PG

  7. KCJones says:

I wouldn’t have hated on Harris if he played like this every game. He’s played w lot better the last five or six games, for sure. 5 assists still. Maybe D-Will and J-Stock spoiled me, but I expect more assists from our starting PG.

Props to Devin, though on his good play of late and the awesome finish vs the heat.

  8. Matt says:

Lets play the other side of that card of yours. Without Devan Harris maybe we win by 20 instead of 1 point. Maybe we win 10 more games from lack of airballed 3’s and missed FT’s.

Your argument only holds water for one game.

  9. Dave801 says:

I think Ty Corbin has been making the same mistake that Jerry Sloan made for years and years…

He expects players to fit into the roles of his system rather than taking advantage of what particular players do best. Carlos Boozer is a good example of that.

The case with Devin Harris is much the same, the offence kind of has to move around him, he’s a shoot first guard being told to be a pass first guard. Some players can adapt to rolls and others can’t. Devin Harris can’t. I think Ty Corbin must have given him the go ahead to play his game (and not be John Stockton, like Jerry Sloan expected all guards to be.

If this can be “Jazz Basketball” then great, but if Ty Corbin wants to run the flex offence then trade Devin Harris for a facilitator immediately.

I would have to say that if Devin played like this all the time it would help us win games. But is he the long term solution, the beginning of this season makes me wonder. Last yr he came in here and lit it up. Although many hated him, I saw potential. He was no All Star, but we expected others to be the All Stars. LA won championships with Fisher, couldn’t Devin be our Fisher? Then this season hit. Lets look closer.

Last season Devin Averaged 7.6 ast and 15 ppg in NJ. When he arrived here he went to 5.4 ast and 15.8 ppg. Dropped in assists, but overall not bad right. This yr he is averaging 4.6 ast, 9.7 ppg. But those numbers are skewed due to he recent play and earlier play. In the last 5 games he has done ok averaging 5.4 ast, 15 ppg. But is that good enough to help us win, even if he gets consistent? What about how many times when other PGs come in for 20 and 30 point nights?

I admit this, I like this Devin Harris better, but why did it take half a season to get him? Will he continue to improve? Is he good enough to take us to a title?

Its not hate to be disappointed in the play of a player on your team. Its not hate that makes you want better. Love CJ, but unless he can play more consistent, we should get someone better. Unless Harris can even become better, we should get someone better there too. Unless Millsap breaks his slump, we should improve there too, he is my all time Favorite player. Favors still hasnt earned that spot as of yet.

  11. Guido says:

My friend… Devin Harris is NOT A PG!!!!!!!

  12. Eric Ostler says:

ill admit i have been harsh on harris but if he continues to play the way he is right now i do not have a problem with him playing for the jazz unless they get a really good offer in return they cant pass up on that

  13. Kevin says:

    Please.

Where are your stupid posts when Devin Harris scores 2 points, 1 asst and 3 turnovers? Oh yeah…..you aren’t bold enough to stick up for him until he does something good.

I LOVE the Jazz, and I like everyone on the team. But a HUGE pet peeve of mine is when some “tough guy” suddenly has enough courage to stand up when it’s easy. You haven’t got the courage to do it when you stand alone. Isn’t that why we all hate Laker fans? How are you being any different?

  14. Jeff says:

I will happily eat my words. There were a few games that I felt were lost due to Devin’s poor play. I loved seeing a game won based on his brilliant play. But he’s got to keep it up. This was the first time I’ve seen Devin play so passionately in a Jazz uniform.

  15. Jay Ericksen says:

Wow kevin what makes him like laker fans ? I have a problem with fans like you that cant let others have opinions whether we agree or not . In case you have not noticed that this is a Jazz fan site therefore lets have a little repect for other fans that dont share your veiwpoints . If you dont like it just refrain from reading . I am a fan that enjoys reading others veiws whether I agree or not . I also dont look at others faults when writing posts , we are not perfect people otherwise we would be doing somethin that was helpin mankind instead of bashing them .
Please lets keep it so everyone can enjoy readin and postin here .
In my opinion Devin Harris has been really tryin hard to play his role . He is not perfect but he has been doin well these last few games . He was shooting almost a perfect game against Houston .
I think we should let him show us what he can do .
    Lets go Jazz !!!!!!

  16. Derek everyone in the NBA has a few games once in a while. They are pros so I would hope they can shine every once in a while. As a Jazz fan I am looking for a PG that can lead and make his team better. My personal opinion I have just not seen that and do not see he is one that can lead a team in the big games. I am looking for consistency and Harris has just not provided this at all. I would think if he is having a bad night shooting he would look to get his teamates more involved but I do not see that.

Although he has had a few good games I still believe he is one of if not the worst PG’s in the NBA but I do not dislike the guy at all. I have been pleased to see what he has been doing for the Jazz but for me it is going to take a lot more than a few good games. Let’s see how Harris does tonight I hope he can continue to do what he has done over the last few games.

I love the Jazz but it was a good thing that game last night was at home. I am still waiting to see the Jazz play an away game with heart. Come on Jazz bring it against Dallas tonight and do not lose by 20.

  17. Derek S. says:

    @Kevin.
Wow. comparing me to a Laker fan is low dude. I’ve always stood up for devin. Even when he was playing bad and sincerely wanted him to play better because he has a great attitude and he has averaged high numbers before, so who’s to say he can’t get back to that.

I’m a die hard Jazz Fan and want the best for the Team. Just gets annoying hearing every other Jazz Fan saying things like, “Oh, Watson didn’t score tonight, Trade him!” or, “Millsapp only scored 10 tonight, trade him!”….
    you get the idea.

Maybe somebody should ask the players if they want to keep Devin around… i’m sure they have a lot more respect for him then a lot of fans are giving him. just sayin…
    go jazz!

  18. Kevin says:

Calm down jay. I am okay with him having an opinion. I totally agree that we need to lay off our players at all times. However, telling those who might have a different opinion to “eat it” is doing what you accused ME of doing. Also, the other good thing about this site is being able to discuss these opinions and differences. You’ve yet to allow that to happen before jumping all over me.

The reason I mentioned laker fans, is because they are loud when its easy to be, and silent when they stand alone. I should clarify that I don’t think the original poster is like a laker fan, I meant to say that laker fans do what I said my pet peeve is. And this statement reminded me of the way they act.

  19. Patrick says:

Derek, whats you take today on Harris? 3 – 9, 5 ast, 7 pnts, no steals. You cannot win ball games when your starting PG is playing like that. I like him when he is doing well, but as of late, its too infrequent. I think we need an upgrade. There are at least 6 guys on the below list that runs circles around Harris right now.

The good thing about Harris putting in a couple good games, is it may put his trade value a little higher, and it shows that with good PG play that we can win. He proved my point, Good PG, Good Perimeter play, Team rebounding are the keys to winning.
