Meet
Athleticism??
Posted by: Marcus on October 18th, 2010
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.So after carefully watching the 1st quater of the game lastnight, i learned a couple of things. 1, while we had our probable 1st unit in there, minus the best PG in the NBA, we looked good defensively. 2nd Hayward wil be ok, he wont be rookie of the year, but he will contribute when needed. 3rd we finally looked the part of backup pg. Earl watson looks like he will step up and do his part againt 2nd teamers everywhere. Nothing against Price, but if dwill should have to sit a coupe of games, we will be better off than last year, in fact, be the best we have been at that position since Mark Jackson in my opinion. I dont count fisher, mr. leave whe i find out kobe and phil areback. Still after all this, i watched the jazz season preview this morning as well, and Mr. Brent Barry himself said “the jazz will finish between the 6th and 8th spot in the west, because they are not athletic enough”. Kill me if im wrong people, but where is the athleticism in LA? Kobe, shannaon brown, maybe artest? Im sorry but since when does athletic enough win championships. Seriously, go back to the 2000 season itself and start fro there, Lakers, spurs, pistons, heat, celtics?? Could anyone name the most athletic person on those teams? Anhyhow i was fumming and rather im wrong about wes matthews or not, mr. Barry said, we downgraded when we lost him and signed bell. Even though he played 6 games last year he is not comming of of lower body surgery here. he hurt a wrist, and the man is still in great shappe. I dont agree i think we will be better with bell, mainly because of on the ball defense. Anyhow can anyone in jazz nation tell me 7 better teams in the west? im not a homer but we get hated on alot. I still see us a top 3 team. But 8th? No way. Thoughts anyone???

I myself watched the same preview as you and totally agree. Right when he said we will finish low in West because we are not atheletic enough I though ok..Lal, not very athletic, boston, a little, the spurs, not at all.
the media is so hung up on the fact that the thunder took lal to 6 games, yes okc is very athletic, but it doesn’t mean if your not as athletic as them then you won’t beat the lakers.
and for the record. the jazz are not horribly unathletic. Evans? CJ? Price? Dwill said hayword was underated athletically..Paul?
I agree.
I think people are way underrating us this year. which is fine because they did it last year and we were one of the top teams overall. let em judge!
go Jazz!
Seriously. I saw this and found a new disrespect for Brent Barry if there ever was any to begin with. Not athletic enough? What a joke. We finished 5th with the exact same athletic team last year. We had matthews but we didn’t have evans (he will be signed guaranteed). We had Boozer who might have a slight edge on Jefferson as far as athleticism. Although we have Hayward whose more athletic in my opinion then Korver was. It’s pretty much a wash yet we improved on defense and all around game. How does that make us a less better game. At least say something that makes some sense like. It will take us awhile to get into rhythm and find our chemistry or we still have players who have a knack for being injured. But athleticism.. throw that out the window.
Jazz will not fly under the radar much longer as they are gonna win mad games this year!!! They always try and deflect spotlight anyways when its put on them (Sloan, Stockton). Who cares about Brent Barry. DWill would break his toothpick ankles
Brent Barry I’m sorry, I loved you as a player, but you are wrong! I firmly believe the Jazz get second in the west behind Lakers, and if not that then third behind OKC. But to think our team is gonna get 8th place in the West, that’s crazy! Look at us, we’re 6-0 in the preseason. Who else in the West has that? Yeah, Memphis, not L.A. and not OKC!
Oh and by the way, another person who is very athletic, D-Will! He is 6-3 and he’s dunking over centers, making them look like fools. He kills people with the crossover and his insane dunks. Hey, look at my picture, how does Fisher feel?
I saw the same preview and totally agree with everybody here. I would just like to ask: who the h*ll decided Rick Fox’s opinion would be a good one? Brent Barry is bad enough, why did they needed to go and have an ex-Flaker share his opinion on the Jazz?
I agree with you all…however, the thing that really got to me was when I was reading the recap of the Jazz Laker game on espn and at the bottom where they have game notes it starts talking about when the Lakers will play the Nuggets in the regular season?! Did they not watch the playoffs last year when the Jazz knocked them out of the playoffs without Okur and AK? What a joke! This is one of the many reasons why I love the Jazz and hope that they dominate every year because they get so little respect. By the way Brent Barry should take a look at D-will’s crossover on Steve Nash the other night. No athleticism…he has no clue what is going on.
@Everyone here!! Im so glad their are people with brains on here. Dwill crosses up everyone, and dunks on everyone. Athlete=check. Miles had a hell of a put back dunk yesterday. Athlete=check. Bell throws Kobe around like a punk, can shoot and jump. Athlete=check. I could go on and on. They would put a Spur and a Laker in to critique us. @ Jon, that is completely true, i read the same thing. Who cares when Nuggets and Lakers play. It was a Jazz game. I personally think people hate on us because not to many big name free agents come here. Sloan and KOC do a heck of a job drafting and trading. Stop hatin Barry and Rick.. as the austrailians would say, “!@#$% Off”
Brent Barry is just mad because he wasn’t even close to the player his dad was..
athletic players on the Jazz: Dwill, Miles, AJ, AK, Price, Hayward, milsap. These guys are all fast and can jump. Does that make them athletic? I would also say fez and Bell are pretty athletic. I mean AJ is more athletic than boozer, and hayward is more athletic than korver, and matthews wasnt the best jumper or fastest player in the league he just played hard. BTW Durrant is a ball hog the OKC Thunder finish 7-5th. Jazz top 4 easy.
