Jazz Nation; This is the HARD TRUTH!!!!

Sorry to bust the bubbles of the nation but if we continue down this path DWILL is GONE>>> Im a diehard jazz fan and we need a better gm. we cant afford to play big spenders on the free agent market like we did with oconnors last “free 3″… Boozer Okur and Korver. Big spending got us a sharpshooter, a 7 foot gunner and a regular season double double who tucks and runs in the playoffs. when we went to the confrence finals a couple of years ago, whos heart soul and passion was that, “wiliams”. But when we got to the lakers, whos imma run and duck because im scared of the big bad wolf attitude was that, “the free 3″. Money drove them not passion and not heart and not will. okur is still there so maybe he can clear his name. Sorry KOC but we dont need george stienbreener, we need billy beane, a cunning smart gm who will get us better through good trades and i commend you on this one, good roll players and people that fit the bill on stats lik, fg% df fg% and sall thing like that. hes great at that but wheres that big trades, i dont count aj because that was stupid of minn, kinda like how la got gasol… i guess the past 6 years he was afraid to admit he made a mistake with the “free 3″. and i hate to get off subject but alot of the  nation is so wrong about wes matthews he gets to much credit for his play, and jerry sloan gets no credit for the job he did for wes, it was his system. we will all see the real wes when he gets to portland. how many ppl that have left after getting hot in utah, went on to stay hot anywhere else????? 1, raja bell, who is now back, so goodluck korver and wes, ur not in your comfort zone anymore.goodbye to the best PG IN THE NBA.  But back to dwill, he will leave unless at least 2 more of these aj deals come along, because even if ak has a stellar year hes either gonna leave or eat up the money again next year. KOC does a good secondary job of supporting dwill, but aj literally fell in his lap, so unless some other fool is out there he is gonna have to get creative or we will say goodbye to the BEST PG IN THE NBA!!!

  1. I don’t see how adding Al Jefferson, Raja Bell and Gordan Hayward will cause Deron to leave. We saved a ton of money in those moves that we can use to add someone else of value.

If you look at the pieces that KOC has to work with, I think he has done as good a job as possible. Just because Minnesota is stupid doesn’t mean you can just “not count it”. The Mavericks were also hot after AJ, but it was KOC that ended up bringing him in. This has been one of the best off-seasons ever for the Jazz. The only other move that KOC could make would be some big trade involving AK and his expiring deal, and these trades are extremely hard to come out of with something really good. Unless DWill wants to create his own version of DWade’s Heat, then he would be crazy to leave the Jazz. The system is tailor made for an elite point guard and an elite low post scorer. Everybody has to agree that nobody has a better record than JSlo at running a system for PGs and low post scorers. We are a couple of key pieces away from being championship caliber. All we need is a shot blocking big and another consistent wing scorer. Tomic could be that big man and CJ or Hayward could be that scorer or we might land someone good next year with the AK free agency dollars.
Enough of the doom and gloom already. You’d think that fans would actually start trusting at some point after all the winning seasons we’ve had.

I don’t agree at all. Kevin O’Connor stated in a recent interview that before the end of the season he sat down with D-Will and talked about who he would like to play with. Jefferson was at the top of his list. Now I really can’t see how giving him what he asks for is going to make him leave. As far as AK he is gone next year which will open up a large sum of money to acquire more of the ‘AJ deals’.

  4. Kelton says:

    @Amanda… I agree with you.

  5. Trent says:

People need to stop the “Deron will be gone” comments. It seems that everyone who makes these type of comments “know” what the Jazz need to do to keep Deron around. They don’t, nor do they know how to run a NBA team.

No disrespect to the author of this post, just a general observation.

  6. Tyler Powell says:

Dude! stop freaking out about whats going to happen 2 years from now! we dont know whats going to happen with the new CBA, we dont know how this team will play! you honestly think if this team wins 55 games and makes it to the conference finals that d-will will leave? no! Give KOC some credit for getting that trade before dallas got Big Al! he is doing what he can! if we get a shot blocking center or Big Al and AK have a stellar defensive year then we are right there competing with a chance to win against anyone! give this team a chance before you start saying the world is coming down, and if you want to start freaking out about D-Will, then start in 2 years, for now, just enjoy the ride! we are about to see some awesome basketball!

  7. James Seaman says:

@ craigsteele…We did not acquire Korver through free agency. We traded Gordan Giricek for Korver just after Christmas, 2007.

As for Boozer and Okur, in 2007 Utah fell just 3 victories short of the NBA Finals, thanks in large part to Boozer (named an All-Star that season) and Okur (named as Boozer’s replacement on the All-Star team ). I think you need to look at the whole picture when you make your criticisms.

The problem with your criticism of KOC is that if you’re going to attack him for not doing enough, or when he makes a move you don’t like, you also have to give him credit when he makes a good move. You said Jefferson fell into his lap…that is simply not true. O’Connor was active, made a move, and got us a post player who can replace Boozer and is only 25 years old.

The Jazz will be okay. Show a little faith.

  8. Marcus says:

Trent, no disrespect taken, but the time to win is NOW right, in two years when his contract is up if now hasn’t happened then te futre will be in another home. am i freaking out about dwill, you better believe it, and so are thousands of others…. And koc ddnt steal aj they were given aj when minnesota didnt want to take dallases other garbage. I didnt completely discredit KOC, if you look at his moves, they are great support moves, he builds regular season teams.. we hit the jackpot with aj, and bell came home, oh we definately will be better, but the true goal is to stay competitve year in and year out if we add another peice after ak leaves then its on. And you ask why would dwill leave, ask yourself why would lebron leave, and i guaretee you will awnsr your own question.

  9. Kevin says:

You guys act like you can’t see one another’s point of view. We all want the same thing, yet you guys search for topics to argue about. Yes, we want to keep D-will. Yes, we want to win now, so that he will have a desire to stay. Anyone disagree with those basic points? No, or you aren’t a Jazz fan. I do feel that it isn’t in our power to do anything about Deron. In the end, he will make the decision he wants. So how about we provide the X-factor and enjoy watching him rack up the assists with Jefferson in the low post, and Bell on the wing?

  10. Andrew says:

Dwill won’t leave unless we starting dumping players. Our team has pretty good chemistry and with the addition of Bell and Jefferson we are already better than Last year. When we made it to the WCF Everyone contributed, we just weren’t good enough to beat the spurs. Ya, Deron had some monster games but the Spurs just had much better Defense and broke us down.

You can’t say those 3 were crap, if they were crap we wouldn’t have made it to the WCF. So shutup, Deron won’t leave. Unless he’s personally told you he’s leaving…

  11. Brady C. says:

We dont need a better GM, KOC is one of the best in NBA. You are saying the Jazz need a GM that will get us to playoffs every other year and into the Conference Finals 1 out of 3 tries. KOC is an unbelievable GM how many teams in the last 10 years have been to the playoffs more than the Jazz? The Lakers and the Spurs, so before you start saying who we need to fire look back how fortunate we are of having KOC until we actually finish last in a season then I will consider getting a new one.
