Jazzbots Blogger Search Begins

Posted by: Daye-Derrick on July 16th, 2009

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

Do you wonder if you have what it takes to be a Utah Jazz Official Blogger? Perhaps you’ve had dreams of Sports Writing stardom via the internet. Well, it’s time for Season-3 of the Jazzbots to be launched and now can be your time to shine.

If you have auditioned for Jazzbots before we encourage you to audition again.

In preparing for the upcoming season, we’re looking to fill several positions as contributing authors to the site:
Jazzbots blog

  • one season ticket holder from the lower bowl,
  • one season ticket holder from the upper bowl,
  • a college student,
  • a housewife, (or stay at home dad)
  • a young working professional,
  • a Jazz family,
  • an elementary school class,
  • a Jazz fan

Entrants need not be die-hard basketball junkies or even those who attend games, nor do they currently need to be familiar with the concept of blogging. They just need to be Jazz fans with a passion to write to other fans about their favorite team!

Successful writers will receive a “beat” to cover based on their entry. Beats could include team performance, player activities off the court, life in the upper bowl, urban legend and Jazz folklore, or other categories based on individual interests.

Entrants should have good, basic writing skills, access to a computer and be committed to submitting blog entries twice per week. The blog runs year round and has no end date; positions are on a ‘volunteer’ basis.

JAZZBOTS PERKS
Writers will receive tickets, and Utah Jazz gear based upon their performance. Tickets will be available for select home games. Writers may also have the opportunity to gain access to front office for feature stories to be posted on Jazzbots.com and Utah Jazz.com. Writers who go above and beyond the call of duty may qualify for additional perks such as autographed merchandise and other Jazz swag.

To enter, send an essay to writer@utahjazz.com complete with:

  • Your full name
  • Complete email address
  • Your phone number
  • Which blog position you would like to be considered for

    • JAZZ SEASON FORECAST (will it be bleak, or will we go over the peak? etc.)
    • OTHER (make up your own topic!)

We’re seeing some great entries for Jazzbots, keep them coming! Please keep in mind we’re not looking for professional sports writers – we have a nation full of them. We’re looking for true Jazz fans who can write from the perspective of the fan. No spin. No fluff. The real deal. Maybe that means things are a little raw – a little less polished. Great.
