The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.I went to the Indianapolis Pro Am league games last night. I got to see Alec Burks up close (2nd row). He had 17 points and their team one. On several occasions he took his man off the dribble and finished strong at the rim. He made a few good passes. He also appeared to be very cool when interacting with his teammates. Truth be told I actually went to see a player who is going to be a Sophomore on Butler’s team next year Chrishawn Hopkins ( a phenomenal athlete and solid overall game). Burks and Hopkins were on the same team.

I meant won not one.
I was going to say the other team must not have been very good scoring just one point. Kind of a short game too.
I believe Burks will make an impact for the Jazz by mid second season. Going to take some time to gel with teamates and adapt to Ty’s system. These young guys will grow together and watch out in year three of this new age Jazz, scary!
thats awesome, so taking his man of the dribble did that stand out the most about his game?
I read another post on another website from someone who was also at game (Indy Pro Am). He said Burks best attribute were his handles–I thought that was a good point. From what a saw you have a 6′6″ guy with good handles both to the right and left who can take his man off the dribble and finish at the rim—there are a lot of guys in the NBA who cannot do that. I think though based on what I am hearing out of Corbin, O’Connor, etc… is that in addition to his explosiveness what they are excited about is his passing. You have to have good passers on the perimeter (Hayward, Burks) is you are going maximize what Jefferson, Favors, and Kanter can do—in other words you’ve got have guys on the perimeter who can get the ball to the aforementioned big guys in such a position where they can score effectively. (See what Hayward was doing for Favors in the last Lakers game).
The best offense is to have guys who can handle the ball. I was in the Burks corner from day one and I think he will be the steal of the draft.
