The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

there is no bigger fan of hayward than myself but i completely with locke when he says:

Gordon Hayward is going to have to figure out how he is going to score in the half court in this league, is it as a shooter, is it off the dribble, will he be able to score in the paint or will it have to be pull ups.

this teams struggles to score and so this should be an open invitation to hayward for him to shoot and shoot often.  right now his games is mainly points in transition (layups, putbacks, dunks on fast breaks).  he has got to be much more proactive in the half court set about trying to score in different ways.  i am still holding out hope that he can do it (second year player) but given his lack of productivity i am getting concerned…..

  1. Maybe they should treat him like Philly and Evan turner and make him the PG like he basically was in college and high school. He was at his best cause they gave him the ball in Clevaland. The last two games they hae gone away from that. So maybe we need to be more proactive because as I see things going we are average.

    Average gets us either a late lottery pick, or an 8th seed with a first round sweep at the hands of the thunder. Our bigs played well and passed and then we get against tougher teams and they do not pass the ball as well as they should have. Consistent play from everyone would be awesome.

    Who would thnk that Harris and Howard would be our most consistent at this point in the season? Cause that is about where we are.

  2. L.K.Anderson says:

    I have said for a long time to make Hayward the point guard.
    He has the basketball IQ
    He is a very good ball handler
    He is already getting a half dozen Assists per game
    He is good at deciding where the ball should go
    This would solve the point guard position
    Hayward and Burks on the guard line would give other teams a fit
    Solve SF problems with Evans, Sap, Carroll,Howard.

  3. Omar says:

    That’s sounds like a plan right there. Jazz need to force the hand of opposing coaches. They need to be proactive and not reactive. Jazz should go ultra big and start Big Al. Favors. Millsap. Howard. And Hayward. Even if teams go small, force them to drive into three
    bigs. If teams do go small post up Millsap against their 3. No contest.

  4. Chad says:

    A white Magic Johnson….I Love it!!!

  5. L.K.Anderson says:

    I think the nickname “White Chocolate” has already been used. If he could play half as good as Magic would be great..

  6. Arnell says:

    @LK: If thats what it takes to make Gordon Hayward deliver at his best, so make it happen Coach Corbin. Please make Hayward the starting PG next season. Therefore, our Team’s line-up in 2012-2013 could look like this:

    (PG) Gordon Hayward / 2012 Draftee (6′4″ Kendal Marshall)
    (SG) Alec Burks / 2012 Draftee (6′7″ Doug McDermott, Creighton)
    (SF) Wilson Chandler / DeMarre Carroll / 2012 Draftee (6′9″ Quincy Miller, Baylor)
    (PF) Derrick Favors / Jeremy Evans / James Augustine
    (C) Roy Hibbert / Enes Kanter / Ante Tomic

    Assumptions:
    1) Paul Millsap was traded for either a SF and a young back-up PG or 2 Draft picks or a TPE (unless he converts himself into a SF in the likes of Melo & LeBron which is possible if he wants to);
    2) Jazz used its Memo TPE to acquire Indiana Center Roy Hibbert in the free agency market;
    3) Jazz acquired another free agent from Denver Neggets SF in Wilson Chandler;
    4) Josh Howard demanded too much monies and got traded (otherwise, him and Wilson Chandler will man the SF position);
    5) Jazz finally brought back James Augustine (6′10, PF) who was with the Jazz training camp a few years back and been making a name in Euro-League. Inexpensive acquisition. See: http://basketball.realgm.com/player/James_Augustine/Summary/104;
    6) and, finally, the Jazz brought in their 2008 NBA Draft pick (#14, Round 2) who has been playing in Euro-League. See: http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Ante_Tomic/Summary/811

    Do I even need to say anything. Im sure Hayward is a nice guy, but he is what he is………

  8. Ya jazzman he is a good basketball player that needs the ball in his hands.. Evan Turner has COMPLETELY exploded since they put him in the position I think Hayward should be in.. But it will take Corbin 25 games to do anything and we will lose our young players once again

  9. No you don’t need to say anything. You are what your are… just saying… Like I said before find a different band wagon. Everyone knows you have it out for him. There are a lot more things wrong with this team and the coaching than always bashing Hayward. How about the outstanding play of CJ? He hurts us everytime he is on the court.
