One Frustrated Fan

Larry's Jersey
Its 2:30 in the morning, the Jazz lost hours ago and I am still awake. I don’t want to be awake, I’m tired, grumpy, and sad nothing sounds better then going to bed, and pretending the game didn’t happen. Yet, I am awake.

The game did happen. I don’t think the Jazz realize it happened maybe Memo did that’s it. Maybe the Jazz thought the game was on Thursday. I don’t know.

I also don’t know how you can win a game and be 3rd in the West and face teams that you are 10-1 against. Or you can lose and be 5th once again for the 3rd time in 4 years, and play a team that you are 1-3 against. If you’re lucky enough to get past that round you will be rewarded to play a team that you are also 1-3 against. And you choose to lose.

I don’t understand how a player can say he’s 90% and choose not to play. I don’t understand how in such an important game players just played like they didn’t care.

I don’t understand how in front of 19,911 fans on a night that honored your late owner, you don’t show up. I don’t understand how you can see how much this organization means to its owner, fans and past players and you lay an egg.

I do understand that I wasn’t surprised in the least. You have been this way for the last 4 years. I do understand that fans were highly invested emotionally and financially in this game and showed that they cared more than you did.

I also understand that once again it will be a short playoff run for the Jazz.

    so frustrating!!

Kirilenko has re-injured himself TWICE. It’s smart for him to delay his return as much as possible. And Jerry Sloan himself suggested that Kirilenko still has some work to do and is not ready. And that 90%, I think he was talking about the condition of his injury, not the condition of his whole body. He also said that if he felt he could play for 3-4 minute periods, he would return. So, that is not really being 90%. We won the season series vs Dallas, but that was before the trade for Butler and Haywood re-ignited their team. If Kirilenko aggravated his injury again, we would have been destined to a 2nd round exit. We can’t beat Dallas in a 7-game series without Kirilenko.

And to me, it seems this post was a little bit too affected by emotions. I mean, the players didn’t “choose” to lose. They lost. they played poorly and lost. But they were trying to win. These guys are not perfect. They fail at times. And Phoenix is not a D-league team. They are a very good team, they were HEALTHIER than us(the had stoudemire, but we didn’t have a healthy Boozer), and they were really hot.

Whatever your job or occupation is, I’m sure you, just like everyone, have done a bad job at least once. And I really doubt you’d like to be accused of “choosing” to fail every time your results are not as good as they are expected to be.

There’s no doubt I was incredibly frustrated last night, and if there was any way AK or Booze could’ve played, I think they should’ve. I agree if AK was 90%, he should’ve played. The difference between 3rd and 5th is HUGE and worth the risk.

I’m cautiously optimistic about our first round series, and I do think we’re going to steal one in Denver before we return to the ESA.

The question is, can we hold serve at home court?

    Hope so…

My one complaint, is I still think we should’ve signed a vet like Mikki Moore for the stretch run. Is he a world beater? No. Could he have helped stop the Amare dunkfest and Lamar Odom explosion the other night? Yep.

Take a cold shower and get ready for the “real” season.

Diana, I feel your pain girl! It took me a long time to settle down last night enough to sleep. I had to play basketball early this morning so I had extra motivation.

Anyway… this is a continuing trend for this team. I was so mad the entire game that my wife would walk into the room to see if I was happy, and leave shortly thereafter because the cloud of obscenities over my head was growing bigger and bigger. I just kept waiting for the Jazz to get something, anything going. No go. Maybe they just decided to quit like Boozer and know that if they tank in the playoffs, the Jazz Front-Office will be forced to make some serious changes. I don’t think Okur got the “We’re gonna quit” memo that was passed around prior to the game.

I fully expect another quick exit in the playoffs once again. This Jazz “core” is not getting it done. Whether they are all healthy on the floor together or not. They may all get really healthy and have an incredible run in the playoffs and prove me wrong but seriously, anyone who is reading this right now knows that there is little to no chance of that happening with these guys.

reffs for the last few games have been off. They killed the flow of the game for us last night. Im still wondering if paul will get a call in his fav this postseason cause it didnt happen for the regular season. I was pretty pissed off the whole game at how amare was able to push and throw elbows yet paul gets the foul call. They let the suns play physical but then deron goes to the hoop hard he gets a charge. Best example was against nash who was back peddling its almost like they are afraid to blow the whistle after the incident with the thunders.

i dont know what your job is but i bet if you were called in for an interview that determined if you got promoted or not and a whole state was depending on you to do your best, not less than your best, just your best you would make sure you came with your A game would you not?

I agree 100% with Isaac. That’s not to say that I think Diana is completely unjustified in being frustrated. But !%#& happens and usually at the most inopportune times. The season’s not over, even when they make it past Denver. There are no “shoe-ins” in the West this year. While I doubt the Thunder will win the series against L.A. I do believe they’ll give them a run for their money and hopefully wear them down a bit. Besides, L.A. hasn’t been playing their best basketball lately and there is talk that Kobe is hurt more than he’s letting on. Should be interesting…

  9. It was disappointing, but not the end of the world.

Everyone is so upset at the Jazz for not winning the last game, but you don’t realize that is not when we turned into a 5th seed.

We turned into a 5th seed when we let the Denver Thuggets come to our home in SLC without Chauncey and Carmelo and beat us. That was when we turned into the 5th seed. We both ended with the same record but they held the tiebreaker. If we would have won the game on February 6th we would have split the series and would have had a better record.

The fact that we had a chance to win it on the last night of the regular season to me is just a coincidence, we let our division rival beat us at home with no super stars while we had both Boozer AK and Williams. That was the night we lost the 5th seed and the divison title, we just didn’t know it yet.

We got this though, Boozer and WIlliams will be explosive.

They showed up. Its just that they had 3 players injured in the starting lineup. And PHX is a good team.

  11. Adoublelan says:

They didn’t show up. They were there physically, but they didn’t show up…

I had to go back a second time and make sure who had written the blog. It didn’t sound like Diana. I too was frustrated and unhappy but but am now very proud of how they are playing minus two main players. I have had to be out of town for a medical emergency which has had me pretty down in the dumps but I managed to get someone to take my shifts sitting in the hospital so I could get home, read my emails and go to that terrific game last night at the ESA. Keep smiling Diana and be happy for how well they are playing now that it counts.
