We are Utah Jazz, We Are Family

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. The last four days have been a whirlwind of emotions for Jazz fans. UJ 360’s Deb blogged about it on Friday when the situation came to its peak. Moni at Living and Dying by the Jazz did a great timeline post of exactly what happened going back to Malone’s visit last February to the Phoenix game, citing every interview done by Malone and Miller since then up until Friday. Read Moni’s post here .
My short opinion can be wrapped in just two short tweets that I sent out on Saturday afternoon
Karl Malone was part of the Jazz for 18 years, There’d be no Jazz if no Millers. I am 100% convinced they both want whats best for Jazz
they just have different ways of showing it. We all love the Jazz, thats why emotions run high.
Greg and Karl both love the Jazz. They have had their difficulties in the past but I believe this too can be worked out. I can’t have an opinion of who is in the right or who is in the wrong. I don’t know if there is a right or a wrong about this situation. I do feel that its all for the love of the Jazz and for the love of Coach Sloan.
John Stockton was interviewed by Brad Rock about the situation. You can read his entire article in the Deseret News here. A quote that shows how Stockton feels the situation can be resolved.
Stockton said he had heard little of the disagreement but knew of it happening. “I just always believed that all comments are better face-to-face, whether they’re derogatory or whether they’re not,” he said. “Hopefully they can resolve it. We all had a special relationship. It was a special time in my life and I know it was in theirs, and I’d hate to see that tarnished outside the lines of the court.”
The Jazz’s slogan this year is We Are Utah Jazz. It is all about unity, it is about coming together as a team. The Jazz for over twenty years has been about the team and not about the individual. The Jazz have stood for hard work and integrity.
Past players, current players, the Front Office, past and present coaches, and fans are all apart of the Jazz family. Lets remember, We are Utah Jazz, We are Family.

I’ve heard that Karl and the Millers severed their Car Dealership relationships. So, that is something that we (fans) has got nothing to do. And, I hope that Greg Miller is not using that to take away Karl Malone’s (and John Stockton’s) significant contribution to the legacy – to what is today, the Utah Jazz (the franchise).
My thought if for the Jazz Management to issue a lifetime pass to ALL past Utah Jazz players whose names are in arena’s rafters. So, with it, we won’t anymore hear Karl (or any other great Jazz Greats) complain about having to buy tickets from scalpers to watch a home Utah Jazz game. Through this gesture, our great ‘retired’ Jazz Great players will live on to continue and thus truly become Ambassadors of Goodwill of the game.
My suggestion is for John Stockton to call for a special and private ‘Pow Wow’ to sort/mend/reconcile Greg and Karl. Afte which, for Ms. Gail Miller to call a special lunch meeting, attended by these great players, and announce and award their Lifetime Pass to Utah Jazz home games. These Jazz greats could also help the team as unofficial Scouts.
Those are great ideas. I love the idea of Stock or another 3rd party to bring the two together and the idea of a luncheon to show the public everything is alright!
