Why James Seamen Is A Stud

Posted by: Spencer D. on July 29th, 2010

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

This post is for one man, and one man only-Mr. James Seamen, a Jazzbots blogger for the Jazz, and my personal favorite. He’s done some bold things this last month, getting on his soapbox about Lebron, offering everyone drinks if the Jazz go 57-25, and has been one of the few Jazzbots I’ve seen commenting on the FANS posts. James is a true NBA fan-taking the ridicule and slander that comes with his position on certain things-all in stride, just like a stud. James sounds like the kind of NBA fan that misses the 80’s and 90’s and doesn’t like the way the NBA is headed as of right now. And I’ve noticed a few fans really getting on James’ case about Lebron and some other issues. I love when you can have “discussions” with other fans. I promote that. And James has handled some very angry comments with great dignity. I believe he was accused of having his “head in the sand,” and of being ignorant. James just brushed them off and kept on going and driving his point home. And he’s never backed down, not once about Derek Fisher. That I applaud. I wish there were more fans like James Seamen.

@Spencer D…uh, thanks. Seriously, I’m very flattered. I’ve been racking my brain going, “Do I know a Spencer?” I really appreciate the kind words.

I just moved back to Salt Lake after 3 years in New Orleans, so I’m really looking forward to reclaiming my season tickets. Holler at me (via a post) if you’re at a Jazz game this year and we’ll meet up and get some grub before the game or at halftime or something.

    Again, thanks. :)

  2. So I’ve been reading Jazzbots for years now and I can tell you honestly that there are few that are as articulate, knowledgeable and cool as James. When people get out of line on other people’s posts he, as nicely as he can, tells them its uncalled for and lets have a healthy discussion. His blogs are always some of my favorites. Hell, I went and had dinner with him and a couple other Jazzbots and it was just one hell of a good time. I still got your number James and I’ll be hitting you up to go to Skybox and catch a few games this season. Keep writing man and I’ll keep reading and posting.

@Spencer- Dude, sometimes you have no idea how much saying a nice thing can have an impact. One of the Jazzbots wrote a post about me called “Is Boondock Saint My Mother” simply because she appreciated me reading and commenting. These guys put a lot of work into blogging and I applaud you for going out of your way to say that you read, enjoy and get something out of the blog. I’ll be looking for more stuff from you now boss. Keep it up.

  3. I don’t no u personally James but I always enjoy readin your posts and comments

Classy, Spencer. I honestly applaud you. I have the weirdest feeling inside me though that I know exactly what caused you to start this blog and exactly the reason you did.

Sorry I spoke my mind. And thanks for rubbing it in my face. Yes, those last two sentences had a hint of sarcasm in them. Guess I’ve become the blog enemy now. I’m very passionate about my opinions too and refuse to jump on the hate the Lakers and hate the Heat bandwagons. I also refuse to jump on the Jazz being the 2010-2011 NBA champions bandwagon. Sometimes I speak my mind at how silly people are for jumping those bandwagons. If not going with everyone else causes me to be laughed at and scorned, well, bring it on. I can stand on my own two feet. :)

It’s no weird feeling Adam. I too have that feeling. I read your post on James’ blog regarding the boycott. You spoke your mind like you always do, straight up, no beating around the bush! haha… Spence, whether he admits it or not, wrote this blog just to spite you. Wow, yes this is directly because of your comments in the other blog Adam, no doubt about it. As for James, he is cool, he’s one of the few bots that leaves comments, and speaks his mind, right or wrong.

  6. champ says:

I also read the final hurdle blog Adam and that’s where he quoted you, wow. A blog just to spite you cuz you tell it like it is. It’s you Adam he’s making the bad guy.

Look fellas, we’re all Jazz fans. That’s why we read and post on this site. So let’s bury whatever hatchets are out there, recognize that we can disagree with each other while keeping it civil, and not let this devolve into something that we don’t want.

I wrote for Jazzbots for two years before they folded it into this site about a month ago, and I LOVE this new site because it’s so much easier for fans to interact and write their own posts. But we kind of have to police ourselves here, so let’s keep it cool.

  8. champ says:

Your cool James, I just commented on how your like one of us and not just a bot who gets half the screen, while we get the little box. Spence, however started a blog and it discretely calls out Adam. So we all speak our minds, Spence is no different by what he did. You agree he took shots at Adam in his blog right?

  9. James Seaman says:

@Champ…here’s the thing, I have been knocked around a few times since this site went live last month (which is okay, it comes with the territory). So there are a number of people Spencer might have been referring to, but yes he did specifically quote Adam as one of them. But Adam is a good guy, we understand each other, and we’ll continue to comment on each other’s thoughts and probably disagree. As for Spencer, of course it feels good to have someone tell you they like reading your stuff. I totally appreciate him for that. But most importantly, I’m sure that if we all sat down (say you, Adam, Spencer, and I), we’d get along great because we’d just be talking about the Jazz, even if we disagreed on some points. So we want to try and create that on this site. The comments are not run through a filter (as you can see–you post a comment, it goes right up). So all of us–you, me, Adam, Spencer, and everyone else who contributes–get to make this site whatever we want it to be. I’m willing to bet that just about everyone wants it to be a place where we talk basketball, argue a little, and say Go Jazz at the end of the day.

By the way, that’s a nice truck in your avatar. :)

Me and James cleared things up. We made it clear that there was no hatred between us personally, just a differing opinion. Personally, I love debating sports and can get very animated at times, especially when I strongly disagree with the point that is being made. I enjoy it and will keep doing it. I love debating. But I never hate the person I am debating with. James does have class, even if he has much different opinions than I do. Most people in his situation fire right back at me when I make comments like that. James brushed it off and didn’t get angry at all. I think that is a first, actually.

Now the whole thing that makes this comical is that after I got all riled up and made those comments, there was someone who got angry and fired right back at me, like is usual. It just wasn’t the person that the comments were directed to. Spencer read the comments on his “final hurdle” blog and created a whole new blog that he created to fire back at me. This one. Just read. He tries to be subtle by saying, “James takes ridicule and slander,” “I’ve noticed a few fans really getting on James’ case,” “I love when you can have ‘discussions’ with other fans,” “he was accused of having his ‘head in the sand’ and being ignorant.” Come on Spence, we all know I was the only one that attacked James like that. I even think that I’ve been the only one that has outright opposed him. I don’t beat around the bush. I’m asking you not to either, because that’s what this is. Come talk to me directly. Tell me personally that you didn’t like what I said. It won’t hurt my feelings. And hey, if you come out and say in THIS blog that you made this just to fire back at me, we’ll all accept it and move on.

  11. champ says:

You’re right James. I see you and Adam are cool as well. So if Spence is cool and Adam is cool with Spence then we’re all good, which I’m sure won’t be a problem. And thanks, I call her the beast. Going to visit Utah soon and get some Moab.

  12. Adam says:

Maybe that last post was too long for what I was trying to get across, let me simplify.

Spencer, I am not mad at you. I’m cool. Are you cool with me or are you mad? Now, you’re probably asleep, so I’ll give you some time to respond.

  13. champ says:

Yes, say you did it in spite Spence and we’ll all move on. Guess we’ll wait on Spence and see what happens.

  14. Spencer D. says:

Adam, we’re totally cool. The main reason I wrote this post was because I wanted to applaud James for getting on his soapbox about Lebron. But anyway, we’re cool. And James, I will be at the home opener this year for sure, already got my tickets picked out and everything. So if you’re going to be there then, just let me know. I’ll be at a few others as well, probably in a suite or something. I’ve got friends in high places. Haha anyway, thanks guys.

  15. Spencer D. says:

Adam, this was written to spite you, just a little bit. But I wanted to applaud James alot for never backing down about Lebron. Or Kobe, Fish, or Phil, which is where me and you will always disagree. But that aside, we’re cool. You sound like a pretty cool guy. And James, I’ll be at the home opener if you wanna meet up then and talk before the game.
