Delaying the future…

Hey all, sorry cause of my english level, its not my mother tounge.

But we all share another common language… love of the Utah Jazz. We all want best for it and we have patience to wait for the right time. But when is it ?? We have great set of young guys, who are all need minutes to develope. I think they are not getting minutes they need and deserve, because of that we are delaying our future and for what ?? just for making playoffs first round… i bealive we can still achieve this with the young players on board.

Actually the equation is very simple for me, thinking that we are in rebuilding process we need to develope young core as soon as possible and it will be possible only giving more time to them. What is happening now actually opposite of it. Here is my simple deal;

Ok we are having wins and making playoff, but what is after ?? after this season when Jazz not signs with Al and Sap, what is going to happen ? we basicly return 2 years before, thats what going to happen, we will start to develope young core all over again, with giving the minutes they deserve  Favors, Kanter, Burks… So what is happening now is just an illusion for me, its just delaying the reality.

My conclusion is we are actually not yet in rebuilding process, but we will get into that next season… Thanks for our coach!

  1. You are absolutely correct, good sir.We all know a trade is going to happen, but in order to get the best value for that trade, we can’t seem too desperate.

I think we’re just going to have to wait until we get to the trade deadline. So it’s going to be an extremely frustrating 2 & 1/2 months.

  2. I love and respect Paul Millsap, but this situation needs to change. Millsap is playing worse than he ever has in a Jazz uniform. Unfortunately, he is the odd man out. Jefferson is not playing too much better.

I think Jefferson has picked it up the last couple of games because he’s starting to realize that even he could potentially be traded. At the very least, he’s realized the Jazz might not resign him in the offseason.

It’s a contract year for Jefferson and Millsap, yet they are both playing poorly.

I’m also wondering why all of the sudden Alec Burks has played in back to back games. Is Corbin actually giving the kid a chance? Or do we think we’re just trying to establish some trade value for him.

It would be a mistake to let Burks go. The kid is a bit of a loose cannon, but so is Russel Westbrook…

Nick, you are right about they may be traded and to get the best value we should not seem desperate… but why we have waited till now ? why not trade them for good deals last year ?

I value more Al then Sap, even though we have great guns for outside shooting this year, still Al carrys us on offense no doubt that, but at the defense… About the Millsap, i agree with you, he is going down but thats maybe because of Foye, Mo and Marvin takes more roles on offense, its not like previous year.

Favors was missing against Rockets and yet Kanter found only 13min chance to play, this is non-sense to me. About the Burks issue, i strongly bealive that kids has huge potential, i mean look at him, he can shoot 3s he forces inside, penetrates and goes to freethow line often, he has better potential then Hayword in my opinion at the offense.

Conclusion is, we need to give playing minutes to our young core or those days will be no more than just win or loss days on the table, it does not holds any promise for our future…

Delaying rebuilding so we can be a fringe playoff team for a couple years. Perfectly said.

What that really does is lose us the lottery draft picks we would have otherwise gotten.

  5. KCJones says:

Pick the best 3-man front court rotation out of the following:

    Favors, Kanter, Jefferson

    Favors, Kanter, Millsap

    Favors, Kanter, Pau Gasol

Now I hate a Laker as much as the next Jazz fan, but I think #3 has the most talent and potential. I heard that trade in a rumor as well (Pau for Al and Millsap). Pau Gasol would at least get our team some street cred in the NBA. Most likely if we don’t make a trade, or don’t trade for a better C than Jefferson or a better PF than Millsap, then we’re going to most likely have to overpay one of Millsap or Jefferson while the other signs elsewhere in free agency and we’ll have frontcourt #1 or frontcourt #2

  6. Eric Ostler says:

KCJones why would we have to over pay either of the two Favors – Kanter will be the start and there are always big guys available that come off the bench (role players)

i think they need to get the young guys more time burks was doing great with the time he got last night this is how the team looks with just young guys right now

    PG ? Burks ?
    SG: Hayward Burks Murphy
    SF: Carrol Hayward Evans
    PF: Favors Evans ________
    C: Kanter Favors _________

they need to get PG’s that are young and have a 1st and 2nd unit PG that scores.
i think as long as they have all the guys from this year this team is not going anywhere i can see resigning foye (3 point shooting is helping alot)

Trade Millsap – Jefferson – Watson – Tinsley – bell
Get Draft picks, clear space for next year

There are just some things that are universally understand regardless of language. Developing our youth and anticipating the future is one of those things. Agreed Levon!.

I agree with Eric (although Id love to see Gasol, I have little faith in that happening). After watching the Howard, Nash, and CP3 trades, it looks like GMs are more interested in draft picks than players. In other words, most teams will not give up a superstar for Millsap or Al, but if we accumulate picks, we can either pick the Lillard type players, or package a series of draft picks and get a star that way. Jazz pretty much turned Tom Gugliotta into Hayward that way. The more picks we have, and the higher they are, the better potential to a star is.

  8. Eric Ostler says:

what would be cool to see happen this summer even though chances are small CP3 :D he has not signed an extension with the clippers.. he wants more money.. the jazz are one of the only teams that have the cap space to work with to sign that big of a contract and not have it hurt us in the long run

  9. KCJones says:

Because I’m not sold evans can be a third big. A fourth, sure. Three quality bigs. 96 minutes split between them is the way to go.

  10. Levon says:

I think we still lacking a good PG, i respect Mo, i love the pace he brings to our game, but he is more like a score first type of guy, but what we need is a pass first PG.

  11. ThanhVII says:

Honestly, I would like a Mo swap for Jeremy Lin. If we don’t get a point guard, like I have suggested before, we should move away from the point guard system and have a point forward. Instead challenging the league top point guards with another point guard, we should try to stop them defensively., i.e., play Burks at the point.
