The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

now i would have to say if the jazz have a chance to draft him i think that he could work really well for the jazz.. now people will say because he played for weber state that he is not going to be that good of a player . thats where everyone is wrong hes a PG not a C or PF he has made his points and gets his assists every game he has the ball in his hand and was shooting a high percentage. for all those that dont know lillard had the opportunity to play for Pac 12 schools and other conferences that are good basketball ones.. he went with weber because they were the first to recruit him… he would mold very well with Favors and Hayward (who are training with the US Olympic team this summer, Just thought i would throw that in.) as he is 22 or some age right around that

  1. I think the biggest advantage we have with him is he could play off ball and score.

  2. KCJones says:

I like Lillard. Was able to see him at a game at Weber State. He can score AND pass, which is the punch – counterpunch that a true guard needs these days. Great all-around game. Let’s all pray that Golden State falls to 8th and we can get Lillard at 8th to get our young point guard to grow with our core.

  3. I’ll take Marshall over Lillard any day of the week.

Besides, we already have a “scoring” point guard that can play off the ball.

  4. KCJones says:

Well, all day long at UJ360 I hear how great Marshall is at this or how wonderful Marshall did that! Marshall, Marshall, Marshall!

  5. Omar says:

    HAHAHA! @KC! Thats was good.

  6. They are both good but marshal fits they system better lillard would be better with a team like the suns or warriors. Where they dont have much of a system and score first pgs work out well there.

  7. Adam says:

I would love to have Lillard. The problem is that we have no first round picks. Unless a team behind Golden State wins the Lottery, which is unlikely.

  8. Adam says:

Had we kept both our first round picks and not lost them both, I would’ve liked to see us draft Lillard or Rivers. Or both

  9. disco says:

    @Trevor – Jazz have a system

  10. disco says:

sorry, meant to read, Jazz have a system?

  11. If we have Jefferson long term Lilliard would be better.
If we lose Jefferson this season or after Marshall would be better.

I know everyone says Marshall is not the most athletic but is Nash?? Never has been. He is a great floor general and that is what Marshall is. That is why I want him. But I would not be pissed with Lilliard either.

The only PG I would be upset at getting is Teague out of UK. His brother is not the best and he is not either. Not worthy of a 1st round pick. If he fell to our 47 though we could draft him there. (unlikely)

  12. Zach says:

True, we have almost no chance of having a lottery pick which could give us Lillard and KOC is unlikely to make any significant moves, including those that might give us a pick. That said, Lillard would be excellent for us. He sees the floor well, is a good passer, and is a good shooter who can create for himself. He has the best chance of being our PG of the future out of this draft class and possibly for the next several years. I’m not saying he’d be an all-star, but I think he fills our needs and solidifies our future much better than Harris and Marshall.

  13. Eric Ostler says:

well there is Scott Machado out of IONA that is available in the 2nd round that would be a excellent PG to have

  14. I agree with Dallan that its situational. Long term Marshell will just work better with what the jazz do. They are both above average, I dont see them ever getting alot of allstar votes.

But if we got Kirelenko back, I dont think we would have any issues.

Unfortunately I think that the only legit PG we have a shot at is Aaron Brooks this offseason. He is the best player in our pay range unless we trade Millsap to get into the draft. I dont love him but he is decent. I do like Lilard but its too early for me to decide between him and Marshall. I am gonna wait until the combine to make a call.
