The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Just like normal this team is going to stand pat and be mediocre and not excel… Kinda makes you see why Sloan quit TIRED OF THE FRONT OFFICE BEING SO MEDIOCRE AND NOT DOING ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS TEAM BETTER INSTEAD THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF EXIT…. once seattle gets a team again i am not going to follow the jazz as much… what a waste of a Season to let both or one walk in free agency.. they basically just said to the Core 4 on the team.. sorry we dont think your good enough to start so we will settle for a 4 game sweep in the playoffs.. would not be surprised to find out once FAVORS HAYWARD KANTER AND BURKS are all free agents they walk becuase the JAZZ ARE STUNTING THEIR GROWTH.

yeah… pretty frustrating, especially with some of the deals that were made, like Maynor to portland for basically nothing? Or Thomas Robinson to houston? We definitely could have made something happen, pretty damn frustrating
KOC and Dennis … C’MON MAN
I wouldn’t over exaggerate and say you aren’t going to follow the team as much. It’s hard to not let emotion take over when we’re frustrated, but be careful when making threats/claims.
I do agree with you though, that this message we’ve sent to the roster is that Millsap and Al are our future. We will continue running an offense through Al so that few others will shoot the ball. Favors has to be so furious at this. I think we’ll be able to keep Hayward and Kanter but I am confident that Favors and Burks are gone. Why would they stick around?
ESPN should just eliminate Jazz from NBA trade machine…..
Well at least we will see just how inept Corbin is:
All we heard was he plays Al cuz we need to keep his draft stock high…..N/A now. Ditto for Sap.
We already know Jazz FO is lame. Now there are no excuses for Corbin playing Kanter and Favors crap minutes. He is not being forced to do so cuz their is no trade deadline showcase. Its on Corbin now.
People will still apologize for Corbin’s idiocy. They always say….”We’ve got a winning record! Corbin is a good coach!” Which clearly demonstrated that they do not understand how much of a waste it is to have Favors and Kanter rotting on the bench. Sure, we are mediocre now but we’ll be TERRIBLE in the coming years when everyone walks for nothing, and the talented young guys are anxious to leave. Right now is when we must develop for the future.
With the recent team record I wouldn’t be so certain to say the Jazz are a definite 1st round exit or sweep. The Jazz have beaten some pretty good teams lately and are starting to come together. I have been one to criticize this team all year but the rest of the season is bright. Don’t fix what ain’t broke.
If I am the Blazers, Im drooling.
Blazers game plan (once Jazz resign Al):
Max offersheet for Favors (Jazz have to match while still resigning Hayward);
Then max offersheet Kanter and a sizable contact to Burks.
So basically in two years Portland will have Favors to pair with LA, or force Jazz in 3 years to let go of at least Kanter or Burks maybe even both. Blazers then have their future starting frountcourt and All Star PG with maybe even their starting SG!
Favors or Kanter
LA
Batum
Burks
Lillard
…..and Jazz will have Al, Mo, Watson though.
Im so disappointed and pissed right now. NOTHING? No assets? No PG? I was at least expecting a Raja trade! F the Jazz, F Corbin, F are” true pgs”, I feel like I’ve been bitch slapped again as a jazz fan. Wtf is the fo doing? You blew it just like in the off season. 1st round exits and resign Al! Fml
@Omar we can be upset about the lack of trades, but believing the Blazers are in a better spot than us is ridiculous.
Batum signed a 4 year, 44 mil deal this last season, Lillard is gonna demand major bucks, LA already is at a near max deal, yet you think they will be offer more to Favs/Kanter than Utah who even upon signing Al may have to worry about reaching the minimum required salary?
@Andy, who theis heck said Blazers are in better spot than the Jazz?!
Blazers love Jazz players!! Sap, Wes, Maynor. They probably look at Jazz like a glorified scouting team. If dont think they will come after two #3 picks, you are being ridiculous. Not just them, but other teams with cap space in 2 years.
Lillard is in year one pf rookie contact. When Batums contract is up so is Lillards, so thats not really a problem. LA near max contract, EITHER Kanter or Favors max, Lillard on rookie contract, Burks on sizeable contract, bout where Batum will be in last year. I dont see how financial that is out of the question?
Al at more money.
Foye at morr money.
DC at more money.
Hayward at more money
Favors or at more money
That doesnt even include what happens to Mo or Sap or the backup PG position.
AND then they have to pay Kanter and or Burks. Portland can do prey on the Jazz quite well actually.
This should be called the downers blog, have any of you guys thought about the reasons there could have been to stay put till the end of the season? No I don’t expect any to come up…
Wow, I’m done coming on this site. People here are ridiculous, I would much rather you quit being a fan than have to be assosciated with you as jazz fans.
Peace out brandon
Truth is we let sap n al walk n pray to god a good point gaurd takes the money….. the millions of dollars we are about to have.. The most we will have since the boozer debacle. hopefully we dont waste our money on an injury case waiting to happen
“have any of you guys thought about the reasons there could have been to stay put till the end of the season? No I don’t expect any to come up…” Jamezz
YES! Why do you think we are panicking!!! Jazz resign Al!! And must imply that Jazz see Mo as starting PG for the future and that Watson is a good enough backup PG that we dont need Maynor. It seems like we are the only ones thinking about why Jazz stayed put! NO MORE AL!
@Brandon, you are creating a false dichotomy: the two things are not mutually exclusive. You can love the Jazz and hate the FO, just like someone can love the USA and dislike the administration. Its not one or the other, it can be simultaneously the both.
If Watson and Tinsley do not get DNPed and Al gets 35+ minutes, I see very little hope in the future.
Cya brandon…..Jamezz what exactly is going to happen this summer that is going to shake things up or the rest of the season. the jazz are no where near title contenders with the way the team is set up. Millsap and Favors are both Unrestricted free agents meaning we wont get anything for them if they walk. i think both players are great guys and wont have a problem watching them for the rest of the season but it is just showing that they dont have faith in the young guys .. that what bugged me most today not that they did not make a trade but that it shows that the front office has no faith in the young guys to let them take over the team and lead them into the future.
The new cba is causing everyone to try to unload the big contracts , and no one can afford to get them, even the Lakers and Heat are going to show the results of the new cba in the next couple of years, until they get back under the salary cap. The Jazz are just smart enough to plan ahead for the future. Great Job Dennis and Kevin to keep the jazz out of a financial mess, Any player we could have got in trade would not have made a big improvement in our team this year or in the future.
Some of the comments on here are unbelievable.
The Jazz did the right thing. There was nothing out there. If you don’t understand this, there is no hope for you.
My advice to you; Enjoy the rest of the season. This is an exciting team to watch! Also, there is a great chance for some playoff basketball in SLC! SOOOO many teams would kill for a playoff berth.
Next summer brings a world of options because of the incredible job that Kevin O’ Connor has done. This summer is going to be the beginning of the future for this YOUNG and TALENTED team.
Nathan your thought are respectable but i disagree.. Who wants to go to the playoffs every year n loose in the 1st round. This team might be young but as long as corbin is coaching there goes your exitement
A lot of you think you know exactly what will happen come the end of the season. I am sure the FO has talked to the players and their agents. There could be a S&T for AL and Sap. Sap was offered what they could at the time. Maybe Al said “I have had my payday I will come back for way less and be a backup to my buddy Kanter.” Maybe Sap will negotiate for what will be then. We don’t know. Or maybe they will mutually agree that it is time for a change. Even a S&T will bring them more money than a straight new contract with another team.
Look at the Bynum situation. Filly thought they were getting a great deal. Bynum has not even laced up his shoes to play once this season. So nothing is absolute..
The only regret is that we will be chasing the same 4 or 5 PGs in free agency that we could have got now for sure via a trade. Maybe we swing a sign and trade for a PG after the season, but our track record of attracting top free agents is not good…
So apparently our front office is content with this Jazz team playing 4-on-5 for the foreseeable future? I was ready for the possibility of them not trading Millsap or Jefferson, but carrying on with freaking Tinsley and Watson as your point guards without so much as addressing that glaring dumpster fire of a weakness??
And don’t try and tell me Mo Williams is going to come in and make it all better. He’s missed what, half of the season so far? There’s no guarantee he’ll even be back by the end of the season, and if he does, who’s to say he won’t get injured again? He’s had a lot of injuries in his career, but now we’re just going to assume he’ll come back by mid-March and be completely healthy and ready to carry this team into the postseason?
Yes, the fact that the front office saw this joke of a point guard situation and deemed it acceptable for any sort of playoff run is the most unsettling of all of this.
THEN there’s also that whole issue that there STILL won’t be nearly enough playing time for the Core Four…
Were missing opportunities to get better. All u guys keep thinking “positive”! The FO will just keep feeding u more bs and keep signing talent that quite frankly is average or worse, just enough to take your $$$ to the bank.. they are destroying are young talent that’s actually exciting! Sorry that makes me lack faith. I dont want to watch Al , Tinsley, Watson at all. They are boring! You guys be content. I will not!
@Larry & @Nathan, I appreciate your optimism. I may be getting old and senile, but I hoped that the Jazz would stay put and worry about their salary cap. There is no proof that the Jazz are going to resign Big Al or Mill. We will eventually get a GOOD point guard and whatever other position we need at a GOOD price. With freeing up some money we’ll have a better chance of resigning our C4. We need to be patient. THIS is not our year to win the championship or will it be next year. Have a little faith in the “front office” and the Millers. I’ve been a Utah fan since the invention of dirt, which doesn’t necessarily make me correct, but don’t give up on our team. We’re having more success than the Chicago Cubbies and their fans seem to remain loyal. GO JAZZ!!!!!!!!
all im saying.. the rockets are just one piece away.. now aint that a btch..Morey GM of the year.. now for the jazz..fkfkfkfkfkfkfkfkfkfkfkfk.. ur telling me that we couldnt have traded for maynor, udrih.. MAN give me a fkn break.. only a few on here sees whats gonna happen.. maybe 1 of the core four will be here in a few years. and i for one will not be pissed because i would want to leave my damm self..fkfkfkffkfkfkfkffkkfkfkffkk.. aint this a btch.
lets not be silly about the little run we have been on.. oh we handled g-state and that sunk in the FO’s head as we are moving on up. lol.. JOKE
Also gm’s around the league knew they can get sap and al in offseason without giving up alot and shaking up their teams so blame jazz FO for waiting so damm long..TRASH..
None of us know any ACTUAL trade proposals the Jazz refused. So, maybe Dennis did a great or poor job, but we’ll never know, and Kevin isn’t talking. We’ll have to see what happens at the draft and July 1st. We should be able to judge on results at that point.
Marvin hasn’t been as marvelous as most of us hoped, and Mo required surgery, but Kevin did a good job last summer, in fact, too good a job, limiting our Core4’s PT. There’s no reason they won’t repeat.
It’s hard to be patient, even for us old farts!
Jazzaholic
Also this was a dead trade deadline league wide. Because of the new CBA things just did not happen. When you go hunting and come back with nothing does your wife tell you “well you should have shot something.” No one knows what is going to happen. Like I said the only thing for sure is Toxic Raja will be gone for good..
Wow slow down we could easily be a underdog in the playoffs
I agree @Jake! And @Marcus, you don’t know if they will lose in the first round.
It is incredibly difficult to win in this league, let alone win an NBA championship. Jazz management and ownership want nothing more than to hang a banner in the ESA. In order to do so, you must make the playoffs.
If you weren’t excited by the youth, talent and future of this team you wouldn’t be here.
