Hey just thought i would ask what everyone is thinking of the young group as of late.. i like watching the line up of -

SG Burks

SG Hayward

SF Carrol

PF Favors

C Kanter

production does stall but they are a extremely well sound defensive unit.. now if we can get the scoring  it would be a hard team to beat.

I like them too, but you need PG and PG for the co-point Guards and play them both at point.

You forgot Pogo. Where do you put him?

Give ‘em the time Ty, instead of having injuries force you into playing the kids.

  2. 1. I believe that Burks HAS to develop an outside shot for us to get out of him that which will help us go far.
    2. Hayward has to become THE leader and keep developing his shot ala Hornacek. He has the athleticism to go to great heights.
    3. Carrol I see as an energetic backup to someone better that we need to acquire.
    4. Favors needs to improve like K. Malone did. That is developing a shot and extending his game.
    5. Kanter needs to keep improving both offensively and defensively and become the beast that he needs to be. I think of him like a D. Howard with soft hands and an ability to shoot. Intensity will be his saving grace.

If they continue to improve they COULD become something to behold.

yeah right now it is all based on them getting more playing time and it can develop into something amazing…as for pogo hes there but hes a backup same goes for Kevin Murphy.. now i know he has not played alot for the jazz but to go along with rankings. coming out of high school into college he was highly under recruited.. for you that dont know

the AAU team murphy played on was one of the top teams. there is a saying that when you have 2 guys from your team get recruited into division 1 basketball you are a tough team to beat.. the team he was on (at the time he was drafted) had 2 current players already playing in the NBA and 3 people were playing Division 1 basketball.

there are a few things the team is still missing but they are super close to being a hard team to beat.

Favors and Kanter still foul too much, and Favors’ foot needs to get better for significant minutes. All are great talents though!

  5. Omar says:

I think the fouling issue has a lot to do with them being seen as benchers and not starters, much less superstars. Its a star driving league, thats why Dirk picked up his first fould with like 2 minutes left in game and Favors had foul trouble. Thats why LBJ is so good defensively cuz they allow him to be physical. Kanter sets a screen like Ive seen most starters, but Kanter is seen as a 14 minute bench player by refs. Thats one of the reasons they need to be getting more minutes and starting asap. In SLC they can play without refs fouling them out like we see in road games.

I still think the best line up, which I envisioned in preseason cuz I thought Sap Al would be traded (boy was I wrong), would be Kanter Favors, Marvin, Hayward, and Burks:

All players can guard at least 2 positions, 2 ball handlers, 2 three point shooters, all long for their position, all good defeners, all run the court great, 3 post players, the offense would be so diverse no way of defending every aspect!! Plus all good to great defenders and rim protecting players. That line up is why I thought Jazz could win championship this year!! I thought by now that line up would each be getting 30+ minutes (boy was I wrong).

  6. Omar, I think that this line up is about 3 years of development away from contending. Along with a few other pieces. But I believe that they have the potential to contend for a championship soon.

  7. TACOREV says:

I agree Robert, but until they start getting that sufficient development playing time, they will ALWAYS be about 3 years of development away from contending.

  8. Omar says:

I saw that line up like OKC when as the 8th actually where the one team that could have beaten the Laker team what dominated the rest of the playoffs. This year I dont see a team as dominant as the Lakers were. I could easily (assuming from game won they got 30+ minutes per each 82 games for the most part) would be playing best ball in April May, and even as 8th seed could do some heavy damage.
