What else do we need?

I was thinking the other day and I relized the Jazz don’t need much more to win a finals. I know that miami’s a good team. A really good team, But it might not work out the way they want it to. lebron came from a team without really great players on it (no affence to cleveland fans). Niether did bosh or wade so maybe that team might not do as well.I think the Jazz will beat the lakers. so what else do we need? Maybe a better bench but what else. Who is the biggest threats?

I think that Miami could go either way, It all depends on if Wade and James can coexist together, they both were the ball handler in Cleveland and Miami, can they accept someone else doing that? The Lakers look better than last year, but it depends if the the new guys fit in.
The Jazz… They look better than last year, but it all depends on if Jefferson produces the same or more than he did in Minnesota. I think this year we can beat LA, but i’d rather just not be in the same bracket and have another team crush them. LA is the only team in the west we have had extensive issues with. The Thunder, we’ll just make a few adjustments and beat them. If not this year, next year. I watched a bit of Ante Tomic in the Croatia vs USA game. He looked pretty good, great post player, ball handler, and passer.

Tomic could put us over the edge and help us win a Championship.

  2. I would prefer for the Jazz to get a solid backup for deron (like maynor was going to be) a role shooter off the bench and a shotblocking center.

we may need more than that, we may need less.

I wish we would have kept Maynor I realy do. I hope regardless of what happens this year, D-will has enough sense to atleast wait around for Ante Tomic to get here.

I agree with Kyle and the thoughts on Maynor. When Deron’s hurt, we’re definitely not as good, but Maynor really did well on that road trip last year. We need someone who can stop Gasol and Odom, or at least slow them down. (Can you name any players currently able to do that?) Could it be Tomic or perhaps a mature, developed Fes? I see great potential in Fes, if he could just mature, work on his post game, and not foul so much. Seriously he’s so huge, that in itself gives him a defensive edge. I know some people hate him but give him some minutes to develop and some years to mature as a backup and who knows? He just might develop into something.

well we saw tomic shut down odom. hopefully something in fes’s head and body will click and he will make all of us including me,sound like fools.

I think the Jazz are lacking 3 things
-A reliable center (preferably a shot blocker)
    -A wing scorer
    -DEPTH

Center-I think Tomic can provide the Jazz with the Center that we’ve needed for years. Although he is not much of a shot blocker, if the chemistry develops right we could have a Gasol/Bynum type of thing going with Tomic/Jefferson. A lot of people think this wont work because they both like playing in the low post, however if you watch LA they have this power and finesse combo thing going on. Tomic can provide the finesse while Jefferson provides the power.

Wing Scorer-This could also be considered the third scoring option that people have been saying that the Jazz need. I’m hoping this one will take care of itself in the form of either CJ or Hayward. Both of these players have great potential and its just a matter of time before they can reach it. While they will most likely not end up as superstars, they can still be borderline if true all-stars.

Depth-Anyone who has really talked to me about the Jazz knows that one thing that I get uneasy about with the Jazz is their lack of depth. While the Jazz seem to have gotten better, they have also gotten thinner. This would be okay if teams like LA, OKC, and SA hadn’t gotten deeper. I believe in order for the Jazz to be true contenders then they need to solve this problem. Unfortunately with Utah be a less than favorable location to play this is also the hardest problem to solve.

Very Simple, Hamed Haddadi, his 3 games at the fiba world champ 16pts 9rbds 5bks, 27pts 9rbds 2bks, 23pts 13rbds 4bks…….. and he’s going to play 5min by game for memphis

I agree that I wish the Jazz would have kept maynor, because it makes me a little nervous to think what would happen if DWill got hurt. The more pressing issue is a center!! I am an Okur fan, but he will be hurt to start the season, and I don’t know if he will recover from the injury. I like the fact that ESPN had on it’s rumor page that Elson came and worked out for the Jazz. Not that he is the best out there, but he is better than Fez. Don’t get me wrong I think Fez has potential and needs more minutes, but right now I would take Elson over him. With those 2 things I think the Jazz are back in contention. With the Center, I would be a lot more excited, instead of nervous for the start of the season.

  9. LKA says:

It would be nice to see the Jazz get Haddadi, Henry, and the other rookie who is in the Memphis contract dispute on the Jazz.I believe he is a point guard.

  10. David says:

the jazz should sign me and i play back up point guard

  11. David says:

    ok the thing we need
    1. more kid cudi #1 on the comments
    2.less kid cudi haters
    3.a party
    now business time
1.back point guard (DAVID ME the only point guard left the jazz will not sign due to age)
2.A Center that can block (HEllo am still waiting to be signed)

The only way i can live my dream is make myself in nba 2k10

I am comfortable with waiting for Tomic for one more year. So I think we can sit that one out. So I think what we really need is a pure scorer and one name has hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. His name is Kirk Penney from New Zealand. Right now in the FIBA tourny he is leading ALL players in scoring averaging just under 30 points a game. He had career averages for his team when he played in New Zealand before coming to the D-league just last March.
his numbers into the D-league have been great.
As you know there is a big change from american to international play. Ball size,3-point line measurements etc. but Kirk Penney has made this transition flawlessly. Showing clutch play in tight situations where in one instance he scored something like 18 points in 12 minutes.
He would be cheap and could be a gem.

  13. Colby says:

I enjoyed James Augustines play in the summer league. I hope the Jazz bring him back for training and give him a shot. it would definately make d-will happy.

  14. Colby says:

I just read Augustine singed in Valencia at the end of July. I guess he had no chance of returning to training camp
