Meet
Jazz ground Rockets

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.Today just seemed like a perfect night for the jazz to win, from James Harden falling ill because of the flu bug to Jeremy Evans getting a 3-point play. Everything clicked even after Favors picking up some quick fouls. The big line up go a shot at it once again today. It started out 7-0 ( seemed to go just like the wizards game) but they actually scored some baskets and got in rhythm. Once we took that lead, we never looked back and lead until the game ended. I gotta admit, i did switched to the Spurs game a couple times but that was just because it was much more interesting than a Harden-less Rockets team.
It was fun to see Murphy playing along side all the other 2nd year players. Honestly i just don’t see Burks fitting into the rotation anytime soon. (I know..im horrible for saying this). but lets be honest.. is true!.. Yes the kid can play, and yes he has a big heart for the game. B-U-T no shot = no playing time. I heard a few rumors about a possible trade for him. Wish him the best. If he stays ill be happy if he leaves i might stop and think and keep on going.
It’s a long season, and a long wait till the next game
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, enjoy the turkey, the NBA games and all those black friday deals. Wish the jazz had a good midnight deal.. cheers.
Go Jazz

Thank God, Harden was sick. Considering the tough schedule so far key injuries have gone in our favors.
Like a broken clock right twice a day, Corbin accidentally put the majority of his best players on the court at the same time!! Hahaha! Kanter and Favors front court looked outstanding!! Jazz were playing great D , running the court, and flying around, looked like UK. Too bad Burks wasnt in there, then that would have been our most athletic line up.
Starters took a mind-fart 3rd quarter and blew the lead, but Houston without Harden is pretty sorry. Good young talent but no game plan or identity. Starters go out and the “bench” (I look at it the reverse to maintain my sanity) came in and went off getting multiple stops. Jazz just need to flip it and have Al, Millsap, Foye, and even Mo as the bench. And starting unit should inlude Kanter, Favors, Marvin, Burks and Hayward…but Im dreaming.
The bad thing about us not playing teams at full strength is its hard to measure our team. Spurs Ginobili was his first game and not in form, Lakers no Nash, Rockets no Harden, Celtics hurt Rondo, 76ers no Bynum, even Wizards no Wall or Nene, so I really want to see us tested both teams at full strength, Memphis and Nuggets, clobbered us. So I appreciate the wins but I want to see whose gonna fight and whos gonna fold, so come playoff time the best of the best are playing amd the others are benched or trade.
More Burks please…
Yes Omar, I agree, I think our bench lineup is the stronger lineup. And you could have Mo or Marvin start at 3 or 4 and Favors at the 4 or 5, Hayward at the 2 or 3 or initiating the offense or Burks so it’s a very flexible dynamic lineup. Have Demarre off the bench and it’s a great lineup. Now we just need a very solid starting or backup PG and it’d be awesome. Even Mo with the young guys would be great since he pushes it up the court well. Him with Al (any PG with Al) seems to struggle.
@GA I think you are right on with Burks. When he has played this season he has done nothing. For everyone that just wants to give him 20 minutes because of potential, well they succumb to their emotions and ignore the logic.
I know he schooled Kobe one time! But anyone that is in the NBA has the potential to do that for one game. It’s one game that some people can’t seem to get over (cough, omar, cough).
I would even say that Kevin Murphy seems to play in the system more and is more effective than Burks.
I love Burks but c’mon.
@Omar It is really starting to bother me how you always see what you want. If Corbin does something good its coincidence, if a player you like plays good for a brief stint its because he is the next All-star. If a player you don’t like has a good game its because of luck. Thank god Jeremy Lin didn’t have linsanity in Utah because you would still back him even if he played horrible.
Its time to be flexible with your mind Jazz(omar)Nation.
(LMAO!)……..said the guy who physically spent an afternoon as a one man protest against Corbin not playing Favors more minutes (oversold exaggerated bigger louder cough w/ phlem….MASON oversold exaggerated bigger louder cough w/ phlem)
I do like Murphy. He’s more active, can pass as well as shoot. I like the look of his shot.
So, you don’t think favors should play more? I am just saying that he had 17 points one time is not a valid argument to say someone is going to be a superstar…
The rally for favors worked better than complaining on UJ360( favors started after). You loved it Omar, don’t lie.
Murphy could be a better shooter than burks, worse at creating, but a better shooter.
In my opinion, which I believe this site is based around, the problem isn’t necessarily with Burks playing time, but rather Corbin’s hypocritical reason for his lack of playing time. I agree with the statement that players need to earn their minutes BUT Corbin needs to practise what he preaches and deal with veterans the same way he deals with the young players
hahaha, don’t get hurt, its just a rib. Firstly, I did/do love it!!! Cuz I believed Favors did need more minutes; in fact I still complain cuz I want 35 minutes for Favors, which is why I want Al traded so badly. So if Favors continued NOT to get minutes…..would you be on UJ360 complaining, or would you say, “hey Al is scoring, and ya his defense is bad, but he is scoring so Favors should NOT get more, minutes; I trust Corbin’s decision NOT to play Favors more?” Or would you be complaining that Favors is better than Al?
Well I think Burks is wwaayyy more potential than Foye and WWAAAAYYYY more potential than Tinsley. I want a championship, not just mediocre players get some points against bad or injury ridden teams. Against playoff teams, like Grizzlies and Nuggets, Jazz got hammered and our deficiencies were exposed. So what I do not want to see is us trade Burks, then when are schedule get tough and teams are healthy playing in form, we are going to struggle, and we won’t have the option of going to Burks, but riding Tinsley and Foye (and Al) into a playoff push?! It doesn’t look good for us.
Remember Burks didn’t get minutes because Jazz wanted to play CJ (averaged 24 minutes) and Bell (averaged 25 minutes), and where are CJ and Bell??!! Nowhere, and Burks’ growth was retarded cuz of CJ?!! cuz of Bell?!! Corbin and FO are dumb short-sighted folks….well those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it…..enter Foye and Tinsley in 2012-2013.
Burks has done a lot more than one fantastic game where Burks carried the Jazz in the 4th quarter. You cannot say Burks doesn’t deserve 10-12 minutes per game do you??? That he deserves DNPS?? Foye averages 24 minutes per game YET of the 12 games played he has had 3 games were he shot less than 29%?? And people jump on Burks for missing to shots, well Foye went 0-7 once?! 1-5; 2-7; and his minutes were never docked. That sounds hypocritical to me.
And I have always said Hayward’s problem was that he played his majority of minutes with Al, and thats why he struggled, so Id say bench Al so Hayward and Marvin can flourish….well Corbin BENCHED?! Hayward and Marvin and they flourished, so no I will not give credit to Corbin for that cuz if he wanted Millsap’s numbers to improved, Corbin would bench Al (KOC would traded him) so that Millsap, Hayward, Marvin, and Mo and Favors numbers would all improve by sending Al to the bench. So I see Corbin as a broken clock.
It does seem like the players are having a hard time playing when AL is on the floor with them.
There is nothing I want more than Burks to be our untainted version of Kobe Bryant. Will say that Favors is demanding minutes while Burks looks lost for the 20 seconds a game he averages. Tinsley is a non threat and I would not mind giving Alec some of his minutes. Also Foye is very streaky.
We need a PG that can shoot the kickout 3 with the shotclock winding down. I would not mind it if Foye was that guy and Burks got some of his minutes at the SG. When it gets kicked out to Tinsley with 3 left I get depressed.
I do think that Burks will get his time at some point in the season. I hope he makes the best of that time when it comes.
I just want to KNOW that Burks is NOT Kobe (I for one think he can be special). We already know limit if Foye and Tinsley’s game, but we dont know Burks limit, and thats why its imperative that he plays more.
