Interesting article. I know Utah isn’t mentioned, but I can’t help but think in the back of my mind that if no one else is willing to pay what he wants, we are exactly the kind of team (minus the location) he would want to go to. He would definitely get minutes. And, yes, even at his age Utah could use him. We have never had a true center like him (Al Jefferson is the closest thing). He still averaged 10 + pts a night, and decent rebounds in limited playing time. He wont give you 40 min a night, nor free throws, but he would be a defensive presence, and a quick bucket if needed. In other words, a piece to the puzzle. I’d welcome him.

If he would take a really small contract then sure…but he won’t. He will expect something close to a max contract and he doesn’t deserve it anymore. It would be good for the younger guys, but in the end it does more harm than good.

Shaq would be a great deal of hype for us. I would love to see that name come hear, it would be great for our market. He still can produce better than Fezenko and would be great for Fez to practice against along with everyone else.

He’s looking for any team he thinks that can let him go out winning against Kobe, you know that.

I can’t see him admitting he is worth nothing. I couldn’t see him going from getting paid 20 million to 2 million. He would just retire. The guys leaves things broken whereever he goes and I don’t know if him and Sloan could work together. Remember Ostertag and Sloan. Yeah Shaq wants to still be king. Why do you think the Heat passed on him going back? Shaq won’t play for that little and wants to be the king still.

It would be great for our market and I would say if it was possible make it happen (as long as it didn’t cost us a bunch) It would be worth quite a bit! That would really get things rocking the boat in our little market.

There is no way he’s going to go to Utah! He’s old, too big, and sometimes just takes up space. He was really good when he was younger, but now I just don’t get it!

Shaq is too old and too big. He gets to many fouls called on him. He will retire in a couple of years. He is way too old to be playing.

I sure hope he doesn’t end up here, he’s pretty much a waste of space in the paint at this point in his career, he wouldn’t be a good fit at all here, though any team who does get him, will get him on the cheap somewhere around the $2 million minimum.

Haha, this is what I’ve been thinking for a while. He and Fes would get along perfectly; and imagine if they were playing at the same time!

I don’t think it will help. We need a low post presence that will really help D-will. He really won’t any more. Plus, I guarentee he will want some major money, not huge but maybe 10 mill.

I like Shaq and all, and it would be kind of a novelty to get him here and obviously attract attention, but I don’t see it really paying off all that much. True, he would give the best veteran advice to our young guys (he is the oldest player in the league after all), but I think his best move would be to hang it up at this point and move on to other things. I’d hate to see him become another player that just didn’t know when to call it quits and end up tarnishing a pretty awesome legacy. I don’t think that would happen, but you never know in the eyes of the fans.

We could only be so lucky to get the big Shaqtus. Yes he’s old and injury prone. But he would bring a great deal of experience and an undeniable presence in the paint.

The BEST part would be picking his new nickname.

The Big Mormon? Too obvious, and probably offensive to some.

I’d go with The Big Prophet :-)

If we can get Shaq at like 2 years 8.5 Mill. haha Maybe. Of course he’d never come here but if he did I can see him really putting forth an effort and really succeeding in Jerry’s system. He’s be a good influence on Fes. Both like to joke around. Plus Shaq has his veteran experience for the rest of the team as well. Championship advice.

In my opinion, Shaq wouldn’t add much, especially for the money he’ll want. He’s good for like 14 ‘nothing special’ minutes and getting injured a lot. As for guidance, maybe he could teach Fes/Koufos how to be mean, but he’d be more likely to just steal Koufos’s lunch money every day after practice.

Thoughts on bring Shaq to the Jazz for a couple of years and having that big body in the middle and give some veteran guidance to our young recruits…
