About Last Night’s Jazz Game

Has anyone bought the broadband package at nba.com? Are you happy with it? Would I be able to choose the announcers, including radio? Also, I can’t tell which games would be blacked out.
-
On Wedensday night the jazz beat the hornets 105-87. D-Will had 26 points and 11 assist.
-
About Last Night: Millsap showed the world that if you play within the context of Jerry Sloan’s offense, you can put up 46 big points. After re-watching the game it was amazing to see him play. His shot selection was not rushed, nor was he a “black hole”, which is what it seemed like Dwyane Wade became in the 4thQ and OT.
But let’s not forget AK, he was all over the ball in OT with rebounds, playing stout D, hitting 3’s, FT’s. Great game by AK.

A few days late but the Clippers game was crazy. For how bad we were in the first half we were equally good in the second half.
The Clippers could be a team that puts scares into a lot of teams – should they avoid injury. Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin are beasts; Chris Kaman is still serviceable at a high level, and that equals a strong core.

That was the most awful game to watch last night. We could of won that have by 20 points if we made our lay ups/dunks, converted when we instead turned the ball over, and boxed out and got rebounds (and held onto them instead of playing volleyball). Golden State is a better team with Ellis, Curry, and Lee. But we’re an even better team defensively and overall really. This is what kills the jazz every year. Losing games like this. Sucking on the road. Not playing consistent. I was hoping things had changed.

Last night’s game was like a replay of the whole season. We had our offense playing totally hot, like we were in the Thunder game. We had our offense play terrible for one quarter, like we did in the first two games.
But, we played some defense.
How about Al Jefferson though. 27 points. I didn’t even realize he scored that much, I was so caught up in CJ Miles (whatupdoe) shooting, DWill’s near triple double having, Paul Millsap’s everything, and AK’s over all performance.
He does it quietly. I can dig it. People don’t really see him coming, but they do. Triple and double teams all night. If the team can learn to move when he is facing doubles/triples, and he becomes a slightly better passer … look out.

Millsap won’t touch your milk or your mail, but he will deliver your paper: The Paper Boy

WOW THEY DESTROYED THE THUNDER
:-)

amazing game last night. Al Jefferson played an interesting role, stepping up and quietly scoring 23 (?), he was a beast when Millsap was out of the game.
I’m really liking what I see between these two, the offense seemed to take a little bit better shape. DWill played so much better, he needs to focus on distributing like that all the time, with Millsap/Jefferson under the hoop he could averate 15asts a night.

Great game tonight. Proved maybe OKC isn’t a two seed and Utah probably isn’t a 5 seed in the west. Maybe reversed? But can’t judge OKC yet. Like we couldn’t judge Utah after their 0-2 start.

The team will get better in time. They are all still getting used to each other and all have to learn to play to their strengths and work as a team. There are three main issues the Jazz need to work on.
1) PRESENCE in the PAINT. Layups and slams are a MUST (12 missed layups vs the Suns).
2) REBOUNDS: Jazz must dominate the boards–enter Jefferson, Millsap, and Evans. The past few years Jazz have been one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the league. Second chance points are key, especially when you can’t shoot for shit.
3) PASSING. This is ESSENTIAL. Fumbles, turnovers, steals, interceptions. This is what we’ve seen the past two games. As for D-Will–how can you make an assist when no one on your team can make a basket? Forget three pointers, forget jump shots. The key to the Jazz offense is the pick-and-roll. If your guys can’t even make layups, you’re in trouble.
Which brings me to my last point. I’ve been saying it for three seasons now. GET RID OF CJ MILES. It’s bad enough that we have AK running around like a chicken with his head cut off, fumbling and turning over the ball constantly. CJ has always been a liability for the Jazz. Sure he’s had some good games, really stepped it up last playoff season. BUT the only thing you can depend on CJ miles for is that he’s going to be inconsistent. Better to have someone who consistently makes 8 points than sometimes makes 20 but usually makes 0. CJ has been given chance after chance but has failed to develop into a consistent, reliable player. I like the guy, he’s got a good competetive spirit, but he doesn’t make the grade.
Finally, FESENKO. What a disaster. Nough said. -
True Josh, the new wave of officiating tells me Stern wants to send a message to the players on “who runs the league”. Paranoid? Maybe, but still, I highly dislike seeing the referees be the center point of the games rather than the players.

Last night’s game was a joke on more than one level. While I am a die hard fan of the Jazz and will always be a fan no matter how crappy they play or who they have on the team…but after last night for the home opener, I am kind of disgusted. I want to make some points about the Jazz first then move to other things.
The first point I want to make is the shooting. For a professional team to shoot so poorly it reflects badly on the coaching and practice. The shooting is horrible. Why are we trying to shoot 3 point shots when we can’t make them? Why are we trying to force the pass inside or force the shot? These are things I don’t understand. The second point is D-Will. He is a great player..most of the time. He is the “team captain”, but he isn’t acting like one. He is the second highest payed player on the team at roughly 15million a year and he is yelling at his teammate for not going inside when he was playing worse.. and for a leader this is not good…it destroys the team cohesiveness. I don’t know if D-Will need to leave or AK or Coach Sloan. I just know something needs to change. I am not an expert, but something over the course of these past years proves that something needs to change.
The next thing I want to touch on was the reffing from the game. I am honestly appalled at the way the refs were calling the game. How can someone go from one side to the other carrying the ball and not get a travel call? Or D-Will getting a T for asking where the foul was when Nash gets in the ref’s face and the ref walks away, etc etc etc. This was a horribly officiated game, add onto that horrible play…and you have a sad looking team and pitiful looking season.

About last night … Look, DWill is struggling. Face the facts. His game is so far off, I don’t know where to begin, perhaps neither does he. His play from preseason to now has been … abysmal.
He is our “fearless leader”, it’s time for him to lead. Perhaps as a leader its time he adjust his game to those around him, rather than vice-versa.
He cannot shoot that terrible.
Next point of anger. Bell cannot be allowed to shoot more than 7 times per game. If, and only if, he hits like 4 of his first 5, then he can air on the side of caution, but seriously, too many shots.
Finally AK and CJ. Wake up, or get back on the bench so that we can play Hayward. Gordon has been a sparkplug for us, forget that DWill had a temper tantrum about him not running through the lane on the semi-break, after all, that one particular offensive set in question where he went to the corner in stead of running off the lane was one of our best sets ALL NIGHT LONG.
SUMMARY:
Jazz frontcourt is playing fine, backcourt (guard line that is) needs to step up their game, quit turning the ball over, setup the offense, and PLAY SOME D ON THE PERIMETER!
