That would be fine with me, on the court. Not sure how Matthews contract fits in now though.

I think that’s what he meant at the SF position when he typed in AJ. I think he meant AK.

  • Avatar Image Ryan said 2 years, 10 months ago:

    and…..AK?

  • Avatar Image Justin said 2 years, 10 months ago:

    Starting line up thus far:

C: Al Jefferson, Memet Okur, Fes
    PF: Paul Milsap, AJ
    SF: AJ,CJ, Hayward
    SG: Mathews, CJ
    PG: DWill, Price, Gaines

Jefferson will be a nice addition to the team; he will plug the vacancy left by Memo’s injury, and be able to slide to PF when Millsap is in foul trouble.

Our offense will take on a new look now that we have a C that will play the post – recall the way the offense was run when Boozer was out two years ago and Millsap was the main PF – we did more motion offense and even more back cuts than we currently do.

The big question to me would be, can CJ Miles get his shooting stroke on? He is currently our biggest 3pt shooting threat on the team.

How is it that Boozer is so lucky to get to play with Rose after playing with Williams? I was hoping he would go to a team with a bad point guard to show his faults. Sometimes I think he’s good because he has/had an all star/future hall of famer point guard giving him goodies every night. Actually, I wonder about Amer’e Stoudimire, too, as Nash was giving him steak dinners every night. ANyway, hopefully AJ is very committed to playing defense, as that is really what we need. If we don’t pick up Matthews, I’m wondering who else would be a good fit. Any thoughts?

For those people that are complaining about the issues with AJ coming from a bad team, so “maybe” his numbers are better than they should be, look at what he did from the 05-06 season to the 06-07 season when he was in Boston. Secondly, look at Boozers stats. Look at his 03-04 season and then look at his 06-07 season (those seasons between were hurt years. Usually that counts against a person in progress.) Utah knows how to turn people into good players, and good players with talent into great ones, regardless of the position. That is why many people talk about Utah’s system. It works. Now also, we know how to work the PF position well. I know AJ is listed as a center, And our history shows not too much luck with that spot, but his play is pretty versatile. I’m having to watch some more videos of AJ to learn more about his D so I’m iffy on that, but it can’t be worse than Boozer. He was a beast, but had a tendency to disappear on the other end.

Boozer: “Tom Thibodeau has an incredible plan in place,” Boozer told ESPN 1000. “It’s built around defense and that’s going to be our staple.”
    - Pause for laughs to die down -
Jefferson will be a great defensive upgrade and he *might* just manage to not get blocked every single time by Gasol.

Jefferson is a good pick up. I look forward to this year. All these trade rumors have been a little confusing, but I just downloaded an app for my android phone that follows all the twitter from the NBA players and commentators organized by team called LeteTweet. It has made it much easier to follow what is going on.

i say let go of matthews and go after shannon brown. He is just like matthews except he has more hops!

  • Avatar Image Chase said 2 years, 10 months ago:

yes it is. but the question is spend it all on matthews or spend it on 2 decent players who might do just as well next season.

Great pick up! An upgrade from Boozer when he’s healthy. If this goes through, is the money still there for Matthews?
