Meet
Jeremy Evans got screwed
Posted by: Kory Woodland on February 16th, 2013
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.It took Terrance Jones 6 freaking attempts to finally complete one of his dunks and then the judges gave him a 50 for and almost perfect combined score of 99 out of 100. Then after a nice dunk dedicated to Vince Carter he grabs a kid out of the stands, sits him down and dunks over him. That is weaker than jumping over a self portrait like Jeremy did and a Kia like Blake did 2 years ago. It might have even been worse than jumping over 7′4″ Mark Eaton (sitting down) and I thought that was pretty weak.
I didnt mind the double ball jam or the lob dunk but I wish Jeremy would have grabbed the black sheet as he was jumping over the painting to unveil the masterpiece while he was throwing it down. That would have been sick
I would also like to see someone put on glow in the dark shoes and dunk a glow in the dark basketball while the arena lights are temporarily shut off

lame as usual, these guys have strictly no imagination, Griffin over a car (not really the car, only the bonnet), Marko milic did this in 95, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HUH1fb70Pg
Ross with a dunk over a bend over kid, seriously, some of the Slam Nation did ten years ago a 360 rider over 4 adults……
Duunk with 2 ball, already done……
and in fact, no one is better than the famous SLAM NATION

Fixed entertainment. What do you expect??
Agreed. Though, as a Jazz fan, we have to recognize that the All Star break is nothing more than a popularity contest.
Fans voted online. It doesn’t matter to them that Evans got probably 1 foot more more air than Ross did on each dunk.
Also, the real winner of this dunk contest is still Jeremy Evans. Listen to the Inside Trax of the Evans dunk. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Russel Westbrook, and Kevin Durant are all on the sidelines talking about the Evans dunk.

Chris Paul: “That’s dope! That’s sick…that’s sick.”
I think it’s more a compliment to have some of the best players in the NBA talking about you than the masses of casual NBA fans.
Not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist, but damn these “fans vote” ended and instantaneous the card with the results was ready sealed and in the hands of dude…bs. just trying to keep outside country market alive. Lame!
I like that Evans built up to his dunks; you could tell he had a whole program worked out and thought out. These other dudes looked like they were making things up on the spot and thats why they missef like a thousand times.
Painting dunk should have been last—everyone says it was dunk of the night.
I don’t think anyone realized how difficult all of Jeremy’s dunks were. That 2 ball one looked weak but that takes a lot of coordination. And if you’ve ever tried to jump over someone you would know how tough the one over Mark Eaton was because he had to dip down to grab the ball. His last dunk was the least creative, but showed off his jaw-dropping creativity.
Terence performed really well also all the way up to his last dunk. I had him vs. Gerald Green in my predictions. Green had a great 1st dunk but couldn’t finish his 2nd dunk which looked pretty lame anyway.
Fan voting is dumb, but the judges are pretty awful as well. IMO, there should only be 1 or 2 50’s a contest.
As Jazz fans, we can’t be too upset. Last year, Jeremy didn’t deserve to win it, but he did. This year made up for that I guess.
Side Note: WTF is going on with these NBA players who dress like circus freaks?
Andy I agree on giving out 50’s so freely. A good dunk should warrant about 40 pts and then if someone shows extreme difficulty or creativity they can go higher from there. A 50 should be comparable a top 10 all time dunk
Didn’t even watch it, the dunk contest has been getting worse every year. There are only so many possible dunks before introducing lame props and even then your limited. The MJs, the Dominque Wilkins, Spud Webbs, Vince Carters. The era of awesome dunks is pretty much passed. I would find it hard pressed to more than maybe one dunk an all star break that really is awesome.
That’s just my 2 cents.
The TNT broadcasters were clearly biased and influenced the voting by announcing “its over” before it was actually over! Oops learn the rules! Did anybody think the TNT broadcast was of low Quality? Lots of dead air and Nick Cannon sucked!
One of the commentators said it best when comparing the Wilkins era dunks, the difference between then and now is back then youd actually heard of those guys. I think Evans said hiimself he not the most creative dunker but he does Ok. I think if his painting dunk had been explained it would have been better. Also what was with the poor attempt at the Jordan free throw line dunk
