Really good article. I would agree with a lot he had to say. Most of the people on this site would not understand his reasoning. But it does make sense..
I agree LK. Maybe we should take our talents to SLC dunk this summer..lol
I take a lot of comfort in the part about Corbin being evaluated just like the youngsters are, counting him as an asset in the same way. Hopefully it means they’ve got a search going for a new coach over the next year, who they can then hire when Corbin’s contract ends after next season.
As for the whole plan as explained in the article… it’s genius if it works in the way it’s outlined here, but there are so many ways it could go wrong. All those pieces have to fall right into place, plus we have to get lucky enough to bring in just the right guys. Nothing we can really do besides cross our fingers.
You look what Philly did with Bynum. Not one second played this season. And the press still think he will do well as a FA. Cornbuckels!! Look at the Nets payroll. They are in deep do-do for several years. Looks like Jazz are in a Chess match. Most the rest of the league are playing checkers.
Very good read, and would suggest to people on here demanding somewhat obsurd trades or calling out the FO for lack of activity in order to win now, you NEED to read this. This article explains the other details we as fans dont always talk about.
Taco i agree there are so many ways this plan could go wrong, but that is the case with any plan. Having an understanding of the big picture plan makes it easier for me to support this team.
What i agree with most, was actually the limited time for the C4 will limit their demands, SOMEWHAT, on their next contract, i get that. I think they are taking this route because of what has happened in OKC with Harden. BUT I think its important for the FO to get extensions for the C4 in place before they hit the market RFA, and Hayward and Favors are due this year.
Good read, thanks Kory
I think the extensions are in place. After rookie contract the QO is in place then if not extended it is the RFA.
I like what the article said in regards to Sap and AL. Accept resonable offers and be a bench player or go the S&T route or let them walk. If both walk Jazz have 22 mill to spend. I still like Wall for a point guard. Most say they will not give him up but maybe for Smith from the Hawks they would. Hawks would love AL as their center. Then ship Smith to Wiz and Wall and what ever to Jazz.Wiz will draft high enough to get a new point guard.
Let me explain what i meant about Hayward and Favors, that was poorly worded. They do have one more year under their rookie contract which is next season. GH, Fav, and the Jazz have a deadline in October of this year to agree to a new contract extension after their rookie deal is up, like what Harden did with Houston this year. Thus the jazz never have to worry about them hitting the market as RFA’s and taking a visit to Portland haha
