I need to be a GM.

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.The NBA has turned itself inside out giving huge advantages to the Top Ten Teams, while the outsiders slowly have to grow. Unfortunately in Utah we do not have the charm of a big city or cannot offer huge amounts of money to grab those necessary to create a NBA Super Team unless we build from the ground up. This Rebuilding process has already begun with our core four, but to have a extremely bright future we need to make a BIG move that lines us up with many more years of excellence.

The Jazz and Why it makes Sense for us:
We get:
Jared Dudley
Kendall Marshall
Josh McRoberts
Victor Claver
We give up:
Al Jefferson
First Round Pick
The Jazz would drop Roberts and Claver, they’re just in there to make the trade work, and the Jazz have the Cap space to take them in, which is also why we are such a good team to trade with this season. On the other hand, Marshall is the PERFECT player we need, Young talented pass first point gaurd, If he was a shooter Hayward, Burks, Kanter, and Favors wouldn’t get the touches they need. He can set those guys up perfectly, I can see him as the next Nash or Stockton on the right team, WE ARE THAT TEAM. Dudley is a solid improvement from Foye, Foye can only shoot and can’t back up Point for us at all. Dudley can and is young enough to be a much longer term fix.
Future Lineup:
Marshall
Burks or Dudley who ever blossoms
Hayward
Favors
Kanter
6th Man Burks or Dudley who ever plays a little worse,
The Other Teams and Why it Makes Sense for Them:
Orlando:
Give up:
Josh McRoberts
Get:
Meyers Leonard
The Magic have clearly stated that they would like to trade anyone on the roster, for expiring contracts or talented young players. They EASILY get a good first rounder in Meyers Leonard for a measly Josh McRoberts.
Portland Trail Blazers:
Give:
Wesely Mathews
Josh Freeland
Meyers Leonard
Victor Claver
Get:
Al Jefferson
They Might have to give a lot but to get Big Al they must, Al Jefferson makes them have, quite possibly, the best front court in the League.
Phoenix:
Give:
Jared Dudley
Kendall Marshall
Get:
Wesley Mathews
Josh Freeland
Utah Jazz first round pick
Wesley Mathews has been playing like a beast, and with Marshall on the bench, they can get him cheap. They also get a first round pick from Utah just to make sure they get as much as they can for two young players.
Conclusion
- The Jazz find a fantastic future Pass first Point Guard.
- The Magic get a Talented young player cheap.
- The Blazers give up a bit to get a very strong front court.
- The Suns snatch a pick to go with a very good looking Wesley Mathews

Because being the GM is just that easy? You just say a trade and then it happens, plus all players play how you want to and you win the NBA championship.
So we would essentially be trading Al Jefferson for Jared Dudley, Kendal Marshall, and a draft pick.
You are high.
Oh, nevermind, you want to throw IN a first round Utah Jazz pick. So we would just be getting Jared Dudley and Kendall Marshall.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never, ever, ever, ever going to read your blog, dude.
Ugh, I fell for a useless “trade machine” post. The ESPN trade machine is the worst thing to happen to the Jazz360 site. Please people, if you’re going to post your ridiculous trade ideas, please say so in the title so that I can be sure to skip it.
@Nick – what is wrong with trading Jefferson for Marshall and Dudley?
Core four is legend you are chasing. Get over it.
Kendall Marshall has barely cracked the rotation in pheonix playing only 3.7 minutes a game. He cannot hit a shoot worth a crap. I predict a solid backup at best.
This trade is awful
@ disco, you want to trade Big Al, a proven 20 and 10 player with probably the best post offense in the leauge for potential? Potential is not measurable and not concrete. Plenty of players have had high potential and not succeeded in the NBA. I would actually go as far to say that the odds are against players establishing themselves in the NBA.
You should get a reality check not a GM position, narcissist.
@Dean
I’m sorry I choose the wrong choice for the title, I should have named it” I have discovered a trade which I believe would make the Utah Jazz into a better team” I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
@Nick
I am sorry I think that Al Jefferson won’t return in the off season and believe we should trade him for a good future pass first point guard thanks for reading
@TacoRev
I believe the NBA trade machine is the best, and only site for that reason, to make trades, I am sorry I didn’t put a perfect trade out there but I try to keep my trades fair, and believable for all teams.
@Disco
Thanks for understanding Bro
@Mason
Kendall Marshall is like Jimmer, he thrives off confidence, touches, and minutes. Big Al will leave in the off season and we might as well gets SOMETHING for him.
Anyways Thanks for the read and the love from all of you.
Go Jazz!
@Mason – Is the better option letting him go for nothing in the off-season?
Real GM trade machine works better. I am sorry you got clobered with the remarks. Every one says they have the right to their opinion but they don’t usually give others the right also.I don’t think the Blazers would give up Leonard or Matthews. But they would lick their chops to get AL.
Any trade where the Jazz dump Al and not involve C4, I can totally get behind!!! I’d trade Al for one single only 1st round pick, anything more than that and its a steal in my opinion. And we might as well trade our first round pick sense Corbin is not going to play that player anyways. So we might as well put it to use. Id rather not see Jazz draft a talented guy and then see Corbin’s sorry self DNP him (by that time KOC will probably resign CJ Miles, saying it was a big mistake to let him leave via FA).
@disco It is not better than letting him go for nothing. I want a proven player though not just the best passing point guard from a draft with only one passing point guard in it.
@Riley I think players need skills, talent, and athleticism more than minutes, touches, and confidence. You earn those things in the NBA. They just don’t grant those types of things to every player picked in the first round. That is the problem with Jazz fans opinion of Burks. He has had one good game in LA and that hardly proves he needs minutes on the floor. Even though I would LOVE TO SEE BURKS EARN THE MINUTES BECAUSE HIS CEILING IS SO HIGH. He still has to earn them by making the team better.
I don’t even think this would be that bad of a trade. I’d take pretty much anything to be rid of Jefferson. And, Kendall Marshall was a guy I had hopes that the Jazz would be able to get if they ended up with the Warriors’ pick.
It’s just the concept of trade machine posts that I hate. It’s all hypothetical and speculative. There’s nothing concrete about it. It’s not even a trade rumor, and most of those are worthless. It’s even more worthless than that.
I mean, the trade machine itself can be a fun thing to play with once or twice. But having to sift through post after post of people’s breaking trade machine discoveries that will never actually happen is annoying.
Well you have to weight what you could get in the offseason with the cap space of an AL ($15M) and a Paul ($9M) leaving to greener pastures. We’re already $8M over the cap, so if they did not re-sign, we would be looking at $16M in cap space, enough to offer a max contract.
Now, could we GET a max-contract star-type player in free agency? The only ones even available are Chris Paul and Dwight Howard, both already nestled all snug in Los Angeles. (List of Free agents here: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/FreeAgents-12-13/nba-free-agents-2012-2013)
If you really think you have a real possibility of making a run at CP3, then I say go for it, let Al and Paul play out their contracts and try to use the cap space to sign CP3. He’s be the perfect fit for the other pieces and I believe it would put us into ‘dominate for the next 5 years’ category. But I also tend to think that’s unrealistic that he would leave LA to sign with Utah.
So the next best thing is to trade one of Al or Paul for something NOW before they leave in free agency and try to re-sign the other one (we’ll have to overpay) so we can have 3 quality bigs (important).
I would wait until next year if we could bring players in but, we cant pull big name players into utah we have hardly ever bee. Able to do that so i would make a trade before taking chances in, free agency. Because we dknt have what it takes to bring big names into utah
