Trouble at PF Position Now

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

If you’re reading this after 12:00 P.M. on 2/23/11, you already know that this probably didn’t happen.

I’m still not sure what to make of what we have now after the Williams trade.  I have always liked Devin Harris, I don’t think he’s necessarily the problem.  It’s the Derrick Favors part of the trade that I am not so sure of at this point.

Derrick Favors seems like a player that can really be productive in the future.  For him to improve, he’s going to need playing time.  That’s the problem.  If you count Al Jefferson and Andrei Kirelinko playing out of position (some people say Andrei should play the 4 instead of the 3), we have five Power Forwards on this team now.  Francisco Elson is listed as a Center, but lately he’s ended playing the 4 anyway, leaving us with 5-6 players who all should play Power Forward.  Seem like a clogged position?

I say that we need to trade one of those 5-6 players by tomorrow.  There has been rumors that the Jazz are still being offered trades.  Please Front Office, consider them if they are reasonable.  We can’t have so many players in one position!

Every team is being offered trades. It’s just that 95% of them don’t get done and never go public. I’m sure there are 20 teams calling up the Jazz and asking about Millsap and Favors and if the Jazz want to give one of them up now that they are crowded at the position.

I really think something SHOULD be done to at least get the Jazz under the luxury tax before the deadline. This team won’t make the playoffs and definitely won’t contend for a title, why bother paying the luxury tax for a lottery-bound team? I expect something to go down before the deadline

Move Andre, and get a good 2 guard

Millsap for Granger? Since we’ll be there Friday, they can just swap jerseys.

Have to have to have to keep Favors. Let the big guy develop and at least enjoy some stability for a year or two. He’s giving us essentially half of Big Al’s rebounds and blocks in a fraction of the minutes. He’s the same height as Big Al and he weighs a little less. Get rid of Evans and Hayward, and then rotate Favors and Millsap at power forward. If Favors plays well, give him the power forward spot and move Millsap to small forward. That’ll solve AK’s expiring contract deal.
