Question?

Posted by: Jason Hathaway on February 26th, 2012

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

First off i would like to congratulate Jeremy Evans for winning the Slam Dunk Comp. he was a beast and say that i thought Derrick Favors and Gordan Hayward did a really good job in the Rising Stars game, like on the last few post you guys have been talking about. Anyways the trade deadline is closing in ( March 15th) and i know some of you guys dont wanna talk about it but do you think the Utah Jazz will make a trade? I dont think they will but i kinda hope so, well see (hopefully a perimeter scorer)

1.Yes!

2.No!

3.Maybe?

4.Hopefully?

5.Dont care

6.Why are we talking about this?!

millsap and raja for wes matthews!

  2. Yes there’s a grade a coming 100 percent don’t know who for what but I believe it will be soon to many things have happend. Two for example they have lost 11 out of there last 13 games and they brought in carrol. Two thing that kind of scream trade in my book

  3. I don’t think the Jazz will move any of the young guns (Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Burks, and Evans).

I doubt if the older players like Howard, Watson, Tinsley, and Bell have a great deal of trade value.

It will be extremely difficult to move Jefferson because of his contract.

That basically leaves Paul Millsap, Devin Harris, and C.J. Miles as the three most likely players to be dealt before the trade deadline.

  4. Congratulations Evans! The head cam was genius. And the degree of difficulty on the double oop was off the charts, you deserve the title! KOC doesnt do many interviews during the season, but the last interview with David Locke they talked about is where we are at the half way point. Obviously the team needs improvements. KOC didnt expound on any peticular player pros or cons and he didnt give insight to overall team needs. I think he would probably just say we are on track and doing fine if we didnt have gaps to fill. Everyone that watches the game of basketball can see our perimeter problem. KOC has done an excellent job in the last 2 years putting pieces together with the options available scooping draft picks and making trades. To me last year the DWill trade was a pretty clear statement that we are going to rebuild. It was an amazing trade and we gained alot of talent fast. I think we are holding alot of cards this year, to make something happen. It would be tough to turn things around with the upcoming schedule enough to be playoff contenders. I think it is more than just a slump. we have good talent and depth Down low. its still jammed for playing time, but some trading could balance and make the roster work to tap our talent and hopefully adding a full threat outside and inside. IMO if we want to contend for playoffs the only chance we have is a major change in rotation of lineups or a trade before deadline.

Jason – Jeffersons contract is big but he is one of the top centers in the league his contract would be easier to move then it would seem .. most likely it is CJ Harris and MIllsap on the trading blocks

While i was watching the BBVA rising star challenge they were talking about the jazz with Hayward and favors playing and they said
The jazz are only one person away from being a dominant team with the young guys they have (i might be off a little on the wording but same general idea)

  6. JC Swan says:

I agree Eric! Corbin needs to “FREE” his young guys and let them play! I’m OK with moving Jefferson and Millsap if we have to. If we want to compete like OKC, we need to play Burks, Favors, Hayward, and Kanter and let them learn. I’d like to keep Millsap as our 6th man but not sure if he’s down with that.

  7. It doesn’t matter if Millsap is ‘OK’ with coming in off the bench. This is a business and a sport. You do what you are REQUIRED to do! Nuff said.

  8. Guido says:

    4 Hopefully.
I read great posts about that question.
I think we need trade Harris if we want to be a winning team… plus CJ “I stink” Miles and the GS pick. We have the base, right now we have to pullish them, and for that we need another midcourt pg, not a himself pg.

  9. KCJones says:

The trade I’d most like to see is Devin Harris (and CJ or Bell if we have to) for a decent pass-first PG.

The other moves and trades I’m fine with waiting for the off-season to make. I WOULD like to see Burks, Favors, Kanter and Evans get more time on the floor if Jefferson / Millsap / Howard can’t win us some games. OR try some new combinations. Burks at PG with Hayward and Bell, or Millsap at SF with Kanter / Favors.

  10. I’d like us to move Millsap somehow. We CANNOT move Harris or CJ without packaging them with a better player. Nobody will take a PG, having the worst carrer of his life and a backup SF that consistently has problems with his shot, decision making, and overall maturity for a pretty good PG. It is totally crazy.
I say lets package Millsap with Harris and get a proven shooter out of the deal. But since Millsap and Harris’ contracts are together around 17 million we would have to probably do a 3 or 4 team trade and send them each different places and get 2 players back from 2 different teams.
Either way no team will just take 2 crappy players, one with an almost 10 mil contract for another 2 years, for a good player.
If we want a pass first PG we should try and get Kendall Marshall in the draft.

  11. Our pg position has horribly timed passes. Earl is good at the oop pass, but if a gaurd is playing over 20 min. and not scoring much, the assists should be consistently high right? otherwise thats just low production.

I love Kendall Marshall as an option for the jazz. Theres a few gaurds in the draft looking good. so is beal, i would snatch him up as a good fit. best rated shooter and works hard on D.

We do have to add a premiere player with any package if we want a premiere PG.

  12. Kevin says:

Watching the skills challenge made me want a solid point guard SO bad. Worse than i did before.

  13. they will trade if they are dang good and ready,,until then teir are bigger things to discuss like getting a real head coach.
