Jazz TV question…

Posted by: jason michael crannell on July 11th, 2012

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.

I am currently with Dish Network, I live in Orem, and I have been watching the Jazz on Root Sports.

I will be moving out to Florida sometime next month, and I still want to be able to see the Jazz games. Can I get the same cable package that’s offered here in Utah, in Florida?

I’ve never had NBA League Pass. Would I be able to watch ALL the Jazz games if I signed up for that?

I know this post is off topic, and I apologize, but I’m just trying to find out information from people smarter then me….lol.

Thanks for any suggestions or help offered.

  1. The person I talked to at Dish was like…Duh…I don’t know..Duh…maybe George…not sure…Duh.

  2. Millslapped says:

Yes you would be able to watch EVERY single game in the NBA including the Jazz if you get league pass. Not sure about Dish though.

  3. Steven says:

As I understand it the NBA league pass allows you to see every game in the NBA, whereas you are normally only able to see games playing in your local tv area or the big games shown on TNT and NBA channel etc. I doubt you would be able to see the full Jazz season otherwise in Florida, however you can always ask the local Florida tv operators if it is something that can be added but I suspect not.

I know the feeling of missing the sports you want to see. After moving to Utah from Scotland I had a similar problem when the firm that had previously shown Scottish soccer in the USA the two years before I arrived here went backrupt at the same time I planted my feet on US soil. I had to rely on the internet for games back home. After 2 and half years of waiting it is now available on US tv again. At least you have the NBA league pass as an option.

  4. Great info…thanks guys. It sounds like NLP is the way to go. Finally, some people that know something.

  5. Is Scottish Soccer different then regular soccer…lol…just sounds funny. I picture guys running around in kilts, and a bunch of bagpipes on the sidelines. Just having fun with you.

I just moved to Vegas and the only way to get ROOT sports was to be on the premier DirectTV channel line up. Way too expensive for me, so it looks like I’ll be doing league pass. I also was told that you can do a broadband league pass where you choose five teams and you get all 82 games for those five. It’s cheaper than the regular league pass, and if you have a HDMI cable you can connect your laptop/desktop to your tv and presto, HD Jazz!

  7. Very good to know NA…thanks for that info.

@JMC, be prepared for some issues with League Pass. Idk how many hours I have spent fight witg them super frustrating. Keep being annoying though, and they will take credit off your bill!!

This is what is gonna happen, the blackouts cause a lot of problems, sometimes channels are blackouted all day, eveb if its a team in other markets, in other states that its ridiculous. Sometimes the Jazz happen to be on thar channel and you are screwed. So call them and be annoying and say how your paying for service that sucks.

Also they blackout local market gamed. The good thing is that your in Florida, so you will get a mix up at most 4 times, Heat and Magic. So if the Jazz play Heat they might shoe the local market Magic, and on League Pass its blackout local so no game.

  9. Chris says:

Every game is also streamed for free on http://www.thefirstrow.eu (even the summer league games have been on there haha)

I live in cheyenne have Dish Network and bought league pass the first 3 years I was here. but for the last two years I purchased a sports package that gives me access to most of the nba games. I have only missed one Jazz game in the two years. I only pay $5 extra a month to get these channels, as where I payed $250 per season for league pass.

  11. cheytown – can you give me more info on that sports package…what it’s called…what it offers?

  12. KCJones says:

I think locally-televised games (local to Florida) against the Jazz would be blacked out on League Pass. You’ll just have to hope its on national TV.

The way TV is is so stupid. Just let me sign up to see all the Jazz games on one TV channel or online!

  13. Omar has had a bad experience with NBA League Pass blacking out games, anybody else have issues with there service?

  14. I really appreciate all the feedback…I’m determined to take the Jazz with me when I leave Utah though.

  15. Jay Ericksen says:

I live here in Idaho so now I have to watch on Roots sports . I have Direct TV and I pay for the package that gives me Roots sports . I think that you could do that in Florida too .
I have heard that NBA League pass will blackout the games that are not sold out . I think that is too bad because sometimes you just arent able to go to the home games to watch it . But I geuss that is a marketing money thing .

  16. I am pretty sure you can add all the Fox Sports/Root in one package like they are talking about that is 5 bucks. Then you get all of the Fox Sports channels and such

  17. I have lived outside of Utah for the past 15 years and the best I have been able to find is the league pass. You will get every game unless they are playing a team in your Florida area. I have dish and that is the way to go. The thing on the league pass is you will not always get ROOT sports so you have to listen to the other announcers sometimes which is not a big deal. You also get every NBA game so if you are an NBA fan you can watch them all. I however only enjoy the watching the Jazz so this year I am going to try NBA broadband where you can select 4 teams and get all there games on your computer. You can then watch if you are on the road and not at home to watch your dish. This is also cheaper.

  18. Chris says:

I just watch whatever games I want to watch for free on the internet. That’s way cheap.
