I think it’s that time again guys. Light up your twitter account and let’s help Burks get some minutes! Williams is out for Friday’s game, what better way to show Corbin that he needs more minutes than earning them against a premier team in OKC.

I agree that this might be the best opportunity for CORBIN to play BURKS. The kid has potential and he has shown to be a Baller. But, friends, Basketball is a TEAM SPORT. While we all complained that HAYWARD defer too much to the other guys (happened most when he is with the Starting Line Up) – BURKS on the other hand, wants to jack things up by either shooting early instead of driving for a clear lay-up, tear-drop shot, or dishing to an open teammate. Most of the time, when he decides to drive he is only looking to force and draw a foul to the dismay of his teammate. Obviously, such moves and decision by Burks does not promote Team Play and thus – inhibits not only his but also the Team’s progress. I am with CORBIN on that point. BUT, I am also hoping that BURKS has been counselled/taughted/coached during these DNP days. In my opinion, and I agree with Karl Malone, IF BURKS will WILL & DESIRE it (and, I hope he siezes this opportunity)he can very well become the JAZZ Future Point Guard. He can accomplish this in many ways: 1) learn from the current PG’s (Tinsley, Watson). Then, during the ALL STAR BREAK and SUMMER TIME – to go visit the MAN (John Stockton) in his State of Washington ‘HOOD’ and learn from the MASTER (just like how D-Will did it). BURKS can become our PG, who can dribble-drive-dish/assist-shoot (drive lay-up; tear-drop which he still needs to show/develop). Again, IF I AM HIM – I’ll take that direction rather than pout (hope he is not doing it ;{ and hope have taken lessons during these DNP times.

    Yes, go Free BURKS ! ! !

    Awesome! Jail-break, Friday!!! FREE BURKS!!!!

    If Corbin DNPs Burks….we riot!!!!

    Attica! Attica! Attica! Attica!……

  3. Burks hasn’t played in awhile, so let’s throw him into the fire against one of the best teams in the NBA in the Oklahoma City Thunder. That makes a ton of sense.

The Jazz aren’t about developing players for the future at the cost of losing game in the present. You long term Jazz fans still haven’t figured that out about our front office yet? KOC made it known at the beginning of last season that the organization wasn’t looking to rebuild, but instead, to make the playoffs. Mission accomplished. This season, the goal is to win more regular season games, and go further in the playoffs. Corbin has never been given the green light to develop the young talent at the expense of winning in the short term. Management has made it clear to him that he is expected to win as many ball games as possible. Is it really any wonder then, that when push comes to shove, Corbin goes with the veterans? His job is hanging in the balance guys. When you go to work, isn’t it your job to please your employer?

  4. Corbin is a first time NBA head coach, looking to prove himself, and keep his job, so that he can support his family. You really think he gives a hoot about whether or not some young 20 year old kids, who happened to be high draft choices, get “x” number of minutes on the floor each night? His only concern is about winning games. Case in point: leaving Millsap on the bench in the fourth quarter in two recent games. You guys are out of your minds if you think that he wouldn’t play the young talent more if he felt that was going to give his team the best chance to win.

  5. I agree that Corbin needs to find Favors more minutes, regardless if that means taking a minute or two away from all the other bigs (including Kanter). We need Favors on the floor for what he can bring to the table defensively. Favors should always play between 25 and 35 minutes per night (unless he takes himself out of the game by getting in foul trouble).

Besides that, I like the choices Corbin has made this season. He is trying different lineups, and is willing to go deep into his bench.

  6. L.K.Anderson says:

My problem with Corbin: When interviewed and asked about burks he says”He has worked his but off and he deserves some minutes.” Corbins doghouse is the worst in the history of the Jazz. Even Sloan let the player off the hook after a few games. Corbins plan is for execution….
@Jason your last paragraph is very wrong. Corbin has mainly gone with a ten man rotation.. And if you like his choices you are one of the few..

  7. Omar says:

Earl Watson: 14.0 minutes; 2.8 points
    Tinsley: 21.3 minutes; 2.9 points
    Foye: 24.7 minutes; 10.9 points

ALEC BURKS: 15.9 points; 7.2 points

This isnt about developing, Burks is already better than them 3, this is about playing your best players against the best teams, thats how you win a championship.

Jazz have been super fortunate with our schedule:
    Mavs (no Dirk)
    LA (no Nash)
    Wiz (no Nene, Wall)
    Houston (no Harden)
    Nuggets (Iggy ejected)
    NO (no Davis, Gordon)

Playoff teams at full strenth have smashed Jazz. Jazz should be like 4 and 10 playing the line ups Corbin puts out there.

OKC is at, hot, and athletic
Jazz, in road, some momentum, non-athletic (more so with no Marvin). Ibaka and Westbrook have miss match all night.
