Meet
Millsap to the Nets?

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. There is a lot of buzz coming from the Brooklyn side about trading for Millsap, they like him, whats not to like? The trades suggested by BKN fans in their various team blogs is Millsap for some combination of Mirza Teletovic, Marshon Brooks, and Tyshawn Taylor. I found a couple Jazz blogs that question if the Nets have any pieces we want, I say take a look at what Nets fans believe they have to offer.
Taylor is a rookie PG from Kansas, he was one of the surprises of Summer League and could be a decent player, he is obviously stuck behind D-Will so he hasn’t played much this season, averaging 4.3 MPG and only one game with more than 9 minutes… he scored 7 points on 3/6. The word is that he is an ultra quick, ball handler/facilitator type and tough defender…at least in the preseason…has to be an upgrade over Watson.
Marshon Brooks is a second year shooting guard, 6-5, 200lbs …He was awesome as a rookie last year, he averaged 12.6 PPG, 2.3 ast, and 3.9 reb! in 29 minutes … this season he is only seeing 11 mpg behind Joe Johnson and it looks like Nets fans feel the same way we all feel about Burks… Stackhouse is the Nets Raja Bell. He has a ton of promise based on his rookie season last year … his FG% is up to 49% from 43% last season.
Teletovic may be the most interesting of the three, he is also a rookie …1985, Bosnia, played in Spain before NBA… The European Ryan Anderson? I love the idea of a player like Teletovic for the Jazz, he is 6-9, 255, plays the 3 or the 4, above average ball handler, oh and he’s a 3 point shooter. He is only playing 7.8 minutes this season, again, stuck behind Wallace and Humphries…but in January he finally saw a stretch of 21, 14, and 22 minutes … he managed shoot 7/14 from three and average 10.6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 1.8 assists and .7 steals … I know, three games isn’t much, but thats all there is. His numbers from Caja Laboral in Spain last season were stellar, 21 points, 6 rebounds, 43% from downtown, but again that was only ten games …in europe.
Overall, I do think the Nets do have the pieces to trade back for Millsap. The Jazz would get back two or three players on rookie contracts with at least as much potential as this years 10-20 projected picks … If we like them we can keep them for many years before they become unrestricted free agents, and if we don’t, we can package them as part of another trade.

The pg you mention is interesting. I don’t see a reason for Brooks though. The Foye/Hayward/(minimal)Burks combo doesn’t seem like it would improve with Brooks in there.
Yes the Nets have players. And when you look at those figures that you produced they look good, but they are very limited minutes. We know what Millsap gives us through his many years of experience. When the Jazz trade Millsap or Jefferson or both, they need a lot more than the promise of potential. The Jazz needs to turn those players into something that will take the potential that this current Jazz team has onto the next level. If we just make a trade involving Millsap for more potential the chances are we are moving backwards from our intended goal.
Teams around the NBA keep adding young players to the potentially great squad they already have and don’t go anywhere. We have some talented young players here already, we need the right experienced guys to add to that to bring out that potential into bonafide results.
Watched Taylor play college ball. He is so fast he can turn the lights out and be in bed before it gets dark.
Bell and Watson would need to be included in the trade. Does it work on the trade machine?? Nets are out of picks for a coulple of years so that would be out.
I don’t want to take Marshon Brooks, the last time the Nets visited he tweeted “Utah, numb state of mind.” We don’t need someone like that playing for us.

Ehh?
I wish we could give up Al before having to trade Millap. Sap has played in more elimination games than Al has played playoff games!!! Its a no brainer who has to go first. Plus there will be a bump in production from other players. I don’t like the idea of keeping Al, trading Sap, and getting a bunch of young pieces that Corbin will not even play. That seems pointless, unless Corbin being fired is part of the immediate future. I don’t see this working out considering how much Corbin loves his mediocre veterans.
Id like to dump Al, Watson, Bell, and somehow pick up a combination of a 4th big, a PG, pick up some young talent, and pick up some draft picks. The deal for Millsap looks good if we could get a third team to take Brooks and send us a 1st round pick, but…….Corbin and Al would remain with the Jazz so those young players will be getting DNPed to oblivion and Al would just buckle in the big games and wed be a first round exit at best. Polishing the brass on the Titanic. So until Al is traded and Corbin gets off his fixation with mediocre vets, its the same song different verse.
For Sap I don’t think it is enough value. Combo of Bell, Watson, Al is a lot of salary. Three or four team deal would be needed. Besides Nets will be too busy picking up Howard..
Meh.
@ Riley Currently the Jazz have a full roster. In order for this to work you would need to include more pieces to free up roster spots. I’m not opposed to the trade if we can make it work. I think including Raja Bell, Earl Watson, and Kevin Murphy to the trade would help facilitate things. I would still love to see a Bell for Maynor trade.
I agree with Andy to many guys at sg. We definitely need to be looking to get rid of Al Watson and bell for a wing and better pg. I still think Toronto is the best option.
I’d accept nearly any trade that involved Millsap IF we also were able to dump Watson, Tinsley and Bell. If it required 3 or 4 teams, so be it. I want all of them gone to open up time for the young guys. It would be sweet if we could get a decent PG back in the deal or a pick. As long as we weren’t taking on equally useless players and it was primarily for money or picks……i’d be down.
