Random Offseason Thoughts
Posted by: Shane on July 25th, 2012
The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz. Here are my random thoughts on free agency and off-season moves so far:
- The signing of Randy Foye for one year at $2.5 million has to be one of the ultimate steals of free agency. Great job KOC. How did he get Foye to agree to only 1 year? Amazing.
- Another great move that flew under the radar: Lowry to Toronto. They need help and he is a great player that comes cheap.
- Nets signing of Lopez is the worst signing of the offseason. $60 million for 4 years?????
- Most over-rated move: acquisition of Nash by the Lakers. He will have a mildly positive affect, but he is aging and his defense is not very good now.
- Rookie that looked the most impressive to me in summer league: Harrison Barnes.
- Team with the strangest offseason: Houston
- Best off-season re-build: New Orleans. draft Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers, re-sign Gordon, add Ryan Anderson. Solid.
- Most desperate team: Dallas.
- Biggest band-wagoner: Ray Allen.
- Biggest gamble: Detroit drafting Andre Drummond.
- Player I’m most interested to see how they mesh with their new team: Marvin Williams.
- So sick of hearing about Dwight Howard. Media needs to move on if nothing is happening with him.

I agree with all of these points except Nash being the most over rated move. I don’t care how old he his, he still makes every player around him better.
The addition of Mo Williams to the Jazz is another throught. I whole heartly agree that we have heard enough about Howard. Think that Jeremy Lamb and Donatas Motiejunas will also be very good players. Lillard being drafted 6th and being co MVP of Las Vegas summer league are a few other memories.
AK 2 years 20M……….Ill pass.
Ha ha ha Houston… WTF? gotta love it. Another highlight I thought of is Kobe’s mocking Irving during USA practice and then Iving lights him up. at the end of Kobes trash talk he says , “you have to be able to dribble the ball and score”

and then Kyrie Irvings response:

also at the end of that Kyrie crossover on Kobe vid is a crossover highlight vid for the season that the jazz make with Tinsley.

Good point on Kobe. On thing I failed to mention on the post is Kobe’s claim that they can beat the 1992 Dream Team. I don’t care who could beat who, maybe this years team could win….but I don’t want Kobe going off on that stuff when really he just needs to win a gold medal….not worry about a team from 20 years ago.
Wow!! Two years, $20 million for AK. Seriously, WOW! His agent must be a phenomenal hypnotist or something to get him these ridiculous deals. Now all that hack has to do is play 20 games, and then sit out the other 62 with a stubbed toe, repeat in 2013-14, and presto, $20 mil!! Maybe I should get AK’s agent and start up a stand-up comedy career
I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the world who could make you seem humorous.
AK47’s agent is also an AK47…
Well I’ll admit I set myself up for that one. It’s just too bad someone clever couldn’t have been here to take advantage of it. I guess we’ll just have to settle for that pathetic attempt by Chris
