Please…we must make a trade!!!

The author's views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of the Utah Jazz.According to HoopsRumors, the Toronto Raptors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Utah Jazz are all interested in trading for Pau Gasol. Last night made me even more disgusted with Gasol after his tussle with Millsap and constant flopping!!! However, I think we could still profit by it! Here’s how:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a4dj8d8
The Utah Jazz Trade: Paul Millsap and Raja Bell
The Utah Jazz Receive: Jose Calderon and Derrick Williams
Why? Millsap is a big trade asset and we can really dump Raja Bell’s contract! Jose Calderon is awesome and Mo will be out for a while!!! I’m sick of freaking Watson running the reserves…have Tinsley run the reserves and Calderon run the starts! Both will give great energy!!!
The Los Angeles Lakers Trade: Pau Gasol
The Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Andrea Bargnani and Brandon Roy
Why? The Lakers have really sought out Bargnani because he shoots long range, opening up for Dwight Howard. Brandon Roy is a contract they can absorb and do with whatever.
The Minnesota Timberwolves Trade: J.J. Barea, Derrick Williams, and Brandon Roy
The Minnesota TImberwolves Receive: Pau Gasol
Why? The Timberwolves trade menial players for a high contract, good player in Gasol. Roy hasn’t panned out and the Lakers are just the team to take on a bad contract. J.J. Barea is expendable due to Rubio and Ridnour… Derrick Williams wasn’t getting much playing time. It’s a total win!
The Toronto Raptors Trade: Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon
The Toronto Raptors Receive: Paul Millsap, Raja Bell, and J.J. Barea
Why? Andrea isn’t working out and they want him out. Paul Millsap is a great piece to run along with their young guys and J.J. Barea is a high intensity guy who can score when he needs to. I’m thinking it looks good for a lot of people!
After this trade, let’s ship Al Jefferson!!!!
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=c95ffy8
I know this trade keeps coming up but I want this trade SO BAD!!!! Kemba Walker could be our future point guard! He scores, he passes, he’s high intensity. Al Jefferson could do wonders for them! He could easily average 23 ppg. and 13 rpg. in their system. Pair him at PF with Biyombo at C and you have the scoring, the defense, and the rebounding between the two!!! The Bobcats can just draft someone else later on! Send them our Golden State pick!!!
Here’s what it looks like:
PG: Kemba Walker, Jose Calderon, Mo Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, Earl Watson
SG: Randy Roye, Gordon Hayward, Alec Burks
SF: Marvin Williams, Demarre Carroll
PF: Derrick Favors, Derrick Williams
C: Enes Kanter, Tyrus Thomas
We got lots of contracts. I say dump Mo Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, and Earl Watson at the end of this year. With the money let’s find a defensive, rebounding PF/C in free agency to backup Kanter and Favors. Derrick can play PF and stretch the defense. We don’t need him to contribute a ton right now.
Jose is meant to hold down the fort ’til Mo comes back. I’d play Mo at SG when he comes back and have Gordon Hayward play the SF off the bench. I’d put Demarre Carroll in the starting lineup. Marvin isn’t cutting it…When the playoffs come, here’s who I’d play in what order:
PG: Jose Calderon, Kemba Walker
SG: Randy Foye, Mo Williams, Alec Burks
SF: Demarre Carroll, Gordon Hayward, Marvin Williams
PF: Derrick Favors, Derrick Williams
C: Enes Kanter, Tyrus Thomas
Whataya guys think? I see lots of holes in my plan but remember, we’re thinking long term. Long term we want Kemba Walker, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter, and in my opinion, Jose Calderon! Tell me what you guys think. But instead of just criticism, what would you do instead???

I don’t see Charlotte giving up Kemba he is one the few players with any upside playing for the Bobcats.
I think Al is the one that needs to go. I would do a trade for Calderon but I don’t see how a trade for Al and Calderon could work. To make it work you would probably have to use Millsap however I do think if we give up Al and Millsap up at once we are going to struggle with Favors and Kanter, expecially of we are getting Derrick Williams as part of the package. Williams is coming on but he has yet to find his true place in the NBA and getting traded might just knock his progress sideways. I like Favors and Kanter but their offense is still limited to run the ship on their own, I think to keep the team offensively honest we might have to keep Millsap to compliment them.
I would love to see Calderon here, as our main guy while Mo is out would really fit a need and failing finding that PG in the summer to build the team around having a one two of Jose and Mo to run the ship next season would be fine until we found a better option.
@Adam – At this moment in his career I see Favors more ready to step into Al’s position than Millsap’s position. Al and Favors like the same part of the floor offensively, hence the reason why he doesn’t score as many points when playing with Al. Kanter currently gets a lot of his points from scraps under the rim, but he actually has a longer range than Favors at this point of career. Unfortunately he doesn’t get the minutes or the plays drawn up that reflect that. Offensively at least I would say Kanter is a PF and Favors is a C/PF, center now, probably more suited to PF as he progresses. Defensively Favors could probably play either position. Kanter needs to work on his movement.
I don’t care for what at this point….trade Al for anything. At this point I don’t care. And dump Watson in process. Tinsley to the bench or 3 string PG.
@ Omar: I agree I don’t even care, we would get better just by letting him leave. Kanter and Favors are ready to step up. They have 4 times the potential of jefferson. Defense actually matters who woulda thought?
Just look how Kevin Love broke out once iso Jefferson left.
The 1st trade, good idea and plausible. You know it still works money wise if you substitute Jefferson for Millsap and send Raja to LA instead. I think the 1st plan of action has to be trading Jefferson while his value is high.
Millsap should stay through the season and then be offered a reasonable extension.
Favors has showed he is ready for 35+ if he can stay out of foul trouble, not sure Kanter should be any over 25 just yet though.
Watson was so bad last night.
Still think Corbin shouldn’t take as much heat as he does. He’s doing a decent job of managing EIGHT players who all have their expiring contracts on their minds. If a major trade happens and he still isn’t giving Favors/Hayward/Kanter/Carroll due time then I’m all for the boot.
@Steven, who cares if they struggle? We’re struggling now!!! At least we give Favors and Kanter opportunity and minutes!
I would like to keep Millsap too for a reasonable price and possibly for a back up role. But I dont think that happens! I’d rather see Al Bell and Watson traded to Toronto for Calderon and Bargs. Id rather take Bargs 3 years than D. Williams. Or Al and Watson for Lowry and Bargs. And then just pay Bell. Lowry is really good pg and much younger. Kemba is my pipe dream!
@Millslapped, first play into the game, Favors gets a block?! Al never challenges a shot at the rim, he just stands still and slaps at ball. How many times was Al flat-footed, and Gasol and Howard just jumped over him and out muscled him for the rebound. When your Center just takes jumpers outside the paint, doesn’t play D, and plays weak as stuff, you cannot be considered a playoff team with a legit center. Maybe the reason the Big Lineup works, is cuz Al can play the SF and stay on the perimeter while the really bigs Favors, and even an undersized big Millsap play as bigs. Small Al is just sorry and weak. Last time Pacers beat him up, so I expect the same tonight. All Star teams are a lot of politics, but the reserves are selected by the coaches, and thats why Al is not an All Star, weak ass dude.
Last night Hayward was rolling, the only man scoring with ball in hand, and Corbin subs him out?! Nash is a poor defender, and Tinsley tried to be aggressive, but hes just too old and not a starting quality PG, should have started Hayward (so Kobe didn’t kill him on the O end, they ran everything through iso Kobe on Foye to the ground) and forced Nash to play some D. KOC is ineffective, Corbin is bad, Al is trash, Watson is some bad word. 8 of the next 12 games are against teams with winning records.
The other night, GSW beat Clippers and OKC on back-to-back nights?! Where are the Jazz?!
*kill Foye on offensive end, should have matched up Foye with Nash, Hayward and Kobe.
As long as Kobe plays like LeBron and dishes out assists, Pau isn’t going anywhere this year, because the last 2 games they were playing great.
