Question about the free agency period…

I have a hard time remembering yesterday, let alone 11 or 12 years ago. But, after the last lockout, when they reached a new CBA, how was the situation with the free agency period handled? I know they only played 50 regular season games that year, but does anyone recall how long the free agency period was? I’m thinking it had to be greatly accelerated. Instead of months, was it more like weeks? Also, did they still play pre-season games, or did they just jump right into the regular season? Anyone recall how the whole situation went down?

    How what situation went down??

  2. There were like 2 weeks of preseason stuff before the shortened season started. Pretty much a couple of days after they reached a new deal they did free agency immediately. Then they started the season a couple weeks after that. It really sucked for the payers because they had no time to get settled in their new towns or with their new teams.

  3. Thanks for the info Brandon…I was just wondering what to expect if this lockout plays out in a similar fashion.
