The Big Day is finally here…

All I can say is that it’s about time. The speculation finally will end, and all the backroom decisions will at last be revealed. I’m trying to emotionally prepare myself for however things play out. There was a deal of chatter yesterday that the Jazz are leaning toward taking Kanter with the third pick. Today, the latest rumor off the press, is that the Jazz will engage in a 3 team trade with Minny and Washington that will net them the second pick, which they will use to draft Derrick Williams. I trust the Jazz brass will make solid, well thought out decisions. I’ll share my feelings about the results of the draft, after the smoke has cleared, and the last name has been called.

The players we can trade are players we need. none are really worth trading to get the 2 pick. It’s still unsure whether the Cavs take Irving or Williams so why risk it, Irving will be good, but he’s got some issues. He only played 11 games. Williams will be good but it’s not worth trading a proven player for someone who doesn’t know what position he plays. I’d be fine getting Kanter, Williams, Irving or Knight at 3.

Irving can slide if Cavs pass, Minni would pass as well.
Williams will slide if Cavs pass, Minni doesn’t need another sf/pf.
Kanter could slide past Minni, but they may take him because of there need at C.
    Knight won’t be a top 2 pick.

I think Kanter and Jimmer probably is the likely pick. Williams and Jimmer could happen as well. Depends on who’s available. Don’t see Walker sliding to 12 like some think. Burkes can’t shoot the 3. Klay Thompson i would take over Jimmer if available.

Yey!! so finally the trade and draft post will be over.
    Whats next!?

  3. Usually free agency would be the next topic of conversation, but with the CBA situation, everything figures to get put on hold.

Jason, actually thats not necessarily true. Its been rumored that because of the new CBA that buisness will actually pick up until the end of the month. One reason is who wants to come back after the new CBA is decided (whenever that is), and try to put a team together last minute. Next, if they do the hard cap, its better to have your team in place and be grandfathered in, than stuck with little to no money and trying to fill up your roster. Some teams will be looking to drop their payrolls while they still have time, and there are people willing and able to work with you. Once everyone is under the New CBA, hands will be tied and money tight. At least that is the rumor. Trades, signings etc are open until the end of the month, I bet most teams do what they can, except the team already in a good place financially. Those teams may wait and see what overflows to them inside the New CBA.
